This week our Instacrush was inspired by NYFW street style. The first days of New York Fashion week were compromised by weather tantrums including heavy rain. The fashion glitterati wasn't fazed as they sported mish-mash of couture and high street pieces as they pleased. Fortunately, there were many outfits to admire on Saturday during Alexander Wang's last NYFW show and Christian Siriano. Many micro trends emerged in the streets of New York and also a few remained solid from last season: Check patterns, vinyl details, stripes, pastel colours, ugly trainers and polka dots were a few of the big contenders.

As far as accessories go, there was an omnipresent need for the top handle handbag. This "It" purse was spotted in different shapes and sizes from Danse Lente's (a previous Shopcade Instacrush) to Meghan Markle's favourite the Strathberry. Other top bags included Loewe’s basket bag interpretation, and the Fendi Shopper bag, Longchamp foldable bags as well as CHLOE's Drew Bijou

No matter the style, silhouette and budget you decide to invest the bag will prove very practical for daywear and smart casual occasions. Pair it with your trench coat for a classic look or a polka dot dress for a date.

New York Fashion Week runs from today until next Wednesday, February 14th following the Men's collections February 5th- 8th. However, this New York Fashion Week is different than the rest. It's following on a wave of changes that was initiated last season when Rodarte, Proenza Schouler, Altuzarra and Thom Browne moved their presentations to Paris. Tome's Ramon Martin and Ryan Lobo also joined the pack of designers leaving New York for Paris. While the controversial collaboration of Rihanna's Fenty x Puma received many accolades and the quintessential American spirit brand of Ralph Lauren hosted his show in his Bedford garage. This season more designers are striking on their own accord while two are coming out of town.

THE OUT-OF-TOWNERS

Tomas Maier is celebrating the opening of his Madison Avenue store and is visiting his Bottega Venetta show from Milan to New York for one season. Maier's move makes sense since the fresh air being infused into the collection abides by the New York edgy and youthful sensibility. Esteban Cortazar - the boy wonder from Paris, formerly creative director of Emanuel Ungaro, is moving his show from Paris to New York.

THE DEPARTURES

Ever since Alexander Wang announced that he's moving #WangFest to a June/December schedule there are more designers evading the conventional Fashion Calendar. Wand staged several street parties in September and will present his final show on the official schedule this Saturday before moving with his plans. Marchesa's Georgina Chapman after filing for divorce from Harvey Weinstein and Keren Craig cancelled their runway show in favour of a more low-key event. Delpozo and Victoria Beckham are switching New York for London, Tome traded New York for Paris while there will be no Fenty x Puma show. Many others Public School and Baja East switched to straight-to-consumer, Burberry and Mansur Gavriel wanted to a see-now-buy-now model while Rebecca Minkoff and Lela Rose opted for Instagram shows instead of IRL ones.

FASHION WEEK STAPLES

But still, it's New York fashion week Marc Jacobs whose latest collection was featured on the cover of American Vogue is closing the show. While Raf Simons is presenting both his third collection for Calvin Kein and also showcasing his own menswear brand. Tom Ford is showing two separate collections Women's and Men's. We're anticipating Coach, Michael Kors, Oscar de la Renta and of course Jeremy Scott! We're also expecting a breath of fresh air from newcomers (to the NYFW runway at least) Eckhaus Latta, the powerful subversive duo, and the American - Australian Matthew Adams Dolan, a denim aficionado and Rihanna favourite.

THE FROW

As with designers, there has been a thinning of big celebrity sightings too. This time last year Katie Holmes, Jennifer Hudson and Lucy Liu sat at Zac Posen alone, for example, and by September, the significant celeb snaps were confined to those of a pregnant Jessica Alba and Jessica Seinfeld. And all for a good reason. According to The New York Times, in the practice of pay-per-pose, an A-lister like Angelina Jolie could command close to $1 million per show. As expected Tom Ford kicked off NYFW AW18 with a guest list that included Ciara and husband Russell Wilson, Pusha T and Halsey. Jessica Alba is a Tory Burch veteran so she’ll probably be there, ditto for Zoe Kravitz at close friend Alexander Wang’s show. Rashida Jones is a fan of  Rachel Comey, actress Chloe Grace Moretz has been a COACH regular in the past and may even show up to the Victoria Beckham show (she’s currently dating Brooklyn Beckham). Olivia Culpo and her New England Patriots player boyfriend Danny Amendola are scheduled to make an appearance, according to E! Online. And from the music scene: Solange Knowles Tinashe and Teyana Taylor may all show up. As far as street style trendsetters are concerned: Yasmin Sewell, (heavily pregnant) Leandra Medine, Lisa Aiken and Linda Tol are all safe bet sightings and women to follow on Instagram if you’re not already.

New York Fashion Week starts today and will run until next Wednesday 14th February (aka Valentine’s Day) following the Men's collections held between the 5th and 8th of February. However, there are a host of changes, initiated last season when Rodarte, Proenza Schouler, Altuzarra and Thom Browne moved their presentations to Paris. Tome's Ramon Martin and Ryan Lobo crossed over to the French capital as well, and even more, designers are shaking up the fashion system.

THE OUT-OF-TOWNERS

Tomas Maier is celebrating the opening of his Madison Avenue store and is visiting his Bottega Venetta show from Milan to New York for one season. Maier's move makes sense since the fresh air being infused into the collection abides by the city’s urban edge and youthful sensibility. Ever since Alexander Wang announced that he's moving #WangFest to a June/December schedule, more designers have followed suit and evaded the conventional Fashion Calendar. Wand staged several street parties in September and will present his final show on the official schedule this Saturday before executing his plans. After filing for divorce from disgraced film mogul Harvey Weinstein, Marchesa's Georgina Chapman and her co-founder Keren Craig cancelled their runway show in favour of a more low-key event. Delpozo and Victoria Beckham are switching New York for London ( the former this season, the latter next), and there will be no Fenty x Puma show (making a Rihanna a little less likely). Others like Public School and Baja East have switched to a straight-to-consumer format, Burberry and Mansur Gavriel’s collections will be see-now-buy-now, while Rebecca Minkoff and Lela Rose have opted for Instagram shows instead of IRL ones.

FASHION WEEK MAINSTAYS

But one of NYFW’s biggest names Marc Jacobs, whose latest collection was featured on the cover of American Vogue, is closing the week as usual. Raf Simons is presenting both his third collection for Calvin Klein and his own menswear brand; while Tom Ford is eschewing co-ed shows by showing his new menswear and womenswear separately a few days apart. We're looking forward to seeing what Coach, Michael Kors, Oscar de la Renta and of course Jeremy Scott have come up with! And keeping a close eye on Monse, newcomers (to the NYFW runway at least) Eckhaus Latta, the powerful subversive duo, and Rihanna’s favourite denim aficionado Matthew Adams Dolan.

THE FROW

This week Shopcade turns to influencer and author of the blog 'Ninety Percent Stardust' Rachel Reaney, for an instant fashion and beauty boost. Her blog chronicles her daily life, trends, travels and enviable skin beauty treatments. We caught up with the busy blogger, influencer and Communications professional to talk about creativity, morning routines and exotic destinations.

What compelled you to start your own blog and Instagram account?

I've always chosen photography and fashion as a medium to express myself and Instagram provides the perfect visual platform to do that. Multiple accounts on the platform have not only inspired me personally but have inspired me to start creating and sharing my own content and things that I love.

What do you enjoy most about the creative process?

For me, I really enjoy and find it relaxing to edit photos. I use VSCO to add the final touches to my photos such as adding a vintage grain or warmer tones using a filter. I use an app called Mosaico to plan the layout of my content.

What are the challenges and also the benefits of being a freelance content creator and influencer?

Luckily, I already work in social media so I feel the combination of working with brands as both a consultant and an influencer is very useful, as you can really understand both sides of the equation and how they can partner together in a collaborative way.

What are your non-negotiables regarding your wellness routine?

I'm a skincare junkie and for me feeling good about myself extends to how my skin is behaving. I try to eat lots of vegetables and drink as much water as I can but once a week I'll set aside some time to have some me-only pamper time. I'm currently a fan of beauty brands including Le Labo, The Ouai, Glossier, Nuxe and Rodin.

How would you describe your personal style? Do you have any favourite brands?

For me, I aspire to look low-key yet effortlessly put together. When it comes to my wardrobe I like to mix pieces from high-end designers on Yoox Netaporter such as Acne Studios, Staud and Nanuska with high street staples from Topshop, H&M or the occasional vintage find.

Which are your staples when it comes to dressing up in the morning? It's important to me to be comfortable in whatever I put on.

I tend to favour a good pair of jeans paired with a nude top or ruffled sleeved blouse. I'll then dress this up with gold jewellery and a statement bag.

You're always travelling. Which one of your recent destinations was the most memorable to you and why?

It sounds like a cliche but Oia in Santorini is one of the most beautiful and photogenic places I've ever been to. My next bucket-list destination is a hot air balloon ride over Cappadocia.

What are you working on at the moment? Do you have any specific goals for 2018?

Keep on improving! I've recently upgraded my camera and am excited to take my photos to the next level. On a personal note, my goal is also to enjoy the little moments and joys that life brings - most often or not these aren't planned!

As we’re move closer to February, Christmas holidays seem like a distant memory. It’s only natural that we start getting that escapist feeling in order to recharge and reboot. The perfect way to relax without breaking the bank is by organising a short weekend getaway on US soil. With Valentine’s Day coming up you may want to organise a romantic weekend away with your beau or conversely a fun weekend with your  best mates. So get your travel essentials, and prep your carry on we here at Shopcade have prepared a small travel guide with the best cities to visit this winter!

Napa Valley

For your ultimate wine tasting getaway book a room near a vineyard and fully indulge yourself in what the city has to offer:  olive groves, and the Mayacamas Mountains.

Calistoga, California

Looking for a romantic getaway with your significant other? How about a secluded ranch in the middle of California offering plenty of activities outdoors and impressive wooden interiors of a classically crafted lodge.

Connecticut

If you think that romance is dead then how about going to a place where Victorian romanticism and architecture thrive? Yes, we're talking about Connecticut and its offering of 19th century fairytails in the charming seaport village of Mystic, Connecticut.

Twin Farms, Barnard, Vermont

For a truly romantic weekend of yesteryear aesthetic look no further than Vermont. There between the maple and pine trees of Barnard, lies a 18th century  farmhouse that once belonged to Nobel Prize-winning writer Sinclair Lewis. Literary getaway check!

Tennesee

To experience the true farmhouse adventure head to the Great Smoky Mountains of eastern Tennessee. You'll be surprised to find amazing farms with a few sparse bucolic hill cottages and grand, multi-bedroom homes. Fill your days  with pursuits like horseback riding, fly-fishing, and canoeing and enjoy indulgent dinners at the hotel.

For the past few seasons, the trainer has elevated to omnipresent status. It's almost a street style prerequisite to sport haute couture with a pair of sneakers. But more than even the contrast has been more evident with the rise of the "ugly" dad trainer and more specifically the Balenciaga's designer version. But the expensive option is luckily not the only one. Usually, the trainer trend doesn't exceed the $100 mark making it quite easy for us.

Here are a few of our best Shopcade finds:

VANS

Those classic black Vans slip ons have been one of the most popular options to pair with frilly dresses, colourful pantsuits even a basic jeans and shirt combo.

NIKES

There's something about Nikes with jeans. a long coat and a chunky knit that says 80s elegance. Although denim goes perfectly with Nikes you can try it with dresses as a tennis shoe alternative.

REEBOKS

Apart from the highly anticipated Victoria Beckham collaboration in 2018, we love Reeboks because of their slight pump making them an ideal pairing for dresses and joggers alike. Take your pick for an uber cool street style look.

ASICS

Turn back time to the naughties in the Kill Bill era that made this pair Hollywood level popular. Try them with a midi denim skirt or denim overalls.

Kate Moss turned 44 today, and for more than 20 years she has been infusing the fashion industry with her unique sense of grunge and boho style, her edge and her overall completely effortlessly elegant aesthetic. The truth is that she has had an excellent training of top designers, stylists and fellow models that have worked with her. So she has developed her unique formula of Kate Moss style that relies on a few simple style rules. Shopcade investigates.

1. Go for an edgy denim

We 've always associated denim with Kate Moss but she's always gone for the denim underdog - the styles that weren't on trend at the time. From low-cut skinny jeans to wide -legged jeans and animal print she's worn all kind of styles and it has always been ahead of their time. Kudos!

2. Quality

Moss is not a fan of the high street. Even though she has launched many successful fashion lines with Topshop she always goes for quality. One of her favourite past times is discovering second-hand clothing from Portobello market.

3. Timeless Prints

You could say that Moss is a print queen. She loves her leopard print, polka dots and a few 70s funky patterns. But she always goes for the ones with classic appeal. She would never go too crazy which explains her effortless yet edgy look.

4. Jewellery

When she wants to draw attention from the clothes she turns to jewellery and diamonds to be exact. From 19th-century drop earrings to sapphire and ruby bangles she knows how to make any dab outfit spark.

New Year means new shows and a new opportunity to discover what twisting plots, haunting performances and amazing sceneries that tv has to offer. We here at Shopcade have rounded up the best shows you need to binge on this year:

THE CHI (SHOWTIME, JAN 7)

The series follows a group of residents of the South Side of Chicago wanting to better their lives featuring an amazing cast headlined by emerging star Jason Mitchell director Rick Famuyiwa and star of last year's best Oscar film "Moonlight".

THE ASSASSINATION OF GIANNI VERSACE: AMERICAN CRIME STORY (FX, JAN 17TH)

Following on the very successful real-life crime anthology of The People v O.J. Simpson, season two exposes the murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace - shot at his home in Miami in 1997. The series features an A star cast including Penelope Cruz as Donatella Versace, Ricky Martin and Darren Criss.

THE ALIENIST (TNT, JAN 22)

One of the most talked about series of the new season produced by Cary Fukunaga (if say True Detective - the first season rings a bell!) while Jacob Verbruggen (who has worked on London Spy and Black Mirror) was employed as a showrunner and director. It tells the story of Teddy Roosevelt before he came into office when he was serving as New York Police commissioner and he got the help of a criminal psychologist (Daniel Bruhl), a newspaper illustrator (Luke Evans) and secretary (Dakota Fanning) to catch a deadly serial killer of the time.

WACO (PARAMOUNT NETWORK, JAN 24TH) These miniseries tell the story of Waco 1993 Texas siege that lasted 51 days and left 76 people dead. Expect mesmerizing performances by Taylor Kitch as Branch Davidian leader David Koresh and Michael Shannon as FBI negotiator Gary Noesner. Keep your eye out for unsettling mullets!

UNSOLVED - THE MURDERS OF TUPAC & THE NOTORIOUS B.I.G. (USA, 2018)

As the title suggests, the series tells the stories of murder mysteries of the deaths of rapper megastars Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur. They were gunned down at an early age and at the height of their careers as they were representing a coastal feud as well. The series chronicles the two extensive investigations that revolved around the heinous murders.
