Wedding season is here, but if you’re not quite ready to give Meghan and Harry a run for their money – and let’s face it, who can afford to cater for 600 people? – you might want to consider a few shortcuts. We caught up with Fern Godfrey, Editor of the UK’s biggest Wedding blog Rock My Wedding, to discover her tips for planning your dream day on a budget…

What do you love most about being the Editor of Rock My Wedding? Rock My Wedding was founded by Charlotte O’Shea in 2009, when she was planning her own wedding, it’s grown hugely since then and we’re now a team of 10. I’ve been Editor at Rock My Wedding since 2015 and I absolutely love my job.

We get to share people’s love stories every single day, work with beautiful flowers and dresses, and champion incredible wedding suppliers with our directory, The List. The best bit is seeing the wedding photographs of brides who have read RMW religiously while planning their own weddings –- it’s such a great feeling.

What do you find are the most popular wedding themes?

We feature a lot of rustic luxe weddings -– industrial and agricultural buildings with lots of exposed brick and lofty beams, filled with flowers and candles. This theme works beautifully for weddings across Europe as we have so many incredible historic and working buildings to use. The weather in the UK doesn’t always allow for the amazing outdoor celebrations we feature from France, Italy and Spain, but all of the weddings we blog are amazing in their own unique way.

How can one plan a beautiful wedding on a budget?

If you want to save money while planning your big day, then the key thing is decide on what is important to you as a couple. If you chose the areas you’re going to spend on, then you can try to save on the others.

Do you really need wedding favours? Can you serve canapés as a starter and wedding cake as your dessert? Have you considered a Spotify play list rather than a band? Do you really need a pair of designer shoes? If flowers aren’t important to you, then use local foliage and seasonal blooms. The one thing we’d always recommend spending on is professional photographs and a film – these things will allow you to remember your big day forever and so they are the most important part.

Can you share any useful DIY tips?

We’ve created a couple of floral DIY’s for Rock My Wedding readers. The first is a chair back arrangement to take your seating to the next level. The other is for a classic flower crown – these are very popular with boho bridesmaids, especially at cool, rustic weddings out in the countryside, but you can use any kind of flower to achieve the look and feel you want. There are plenty of examples on the Rock My Wedding Instagram feed.

As an expert, what would you pack for a destination wedding?

As a wedding guest? A floral maxi dress, a wide brimmed hat and some sunglasses. As the bride? A soft and flowing gown, some pretty sandals and lots of Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Pressed Powder.

Shop Fern’s edit for the perfect pieces to make your day special, whatever your budget and wherever you’re heading to tie the knot…

The outspoken actress, singer and former Disney star has an impressive roster of movies under her belt such as Spider-Man: Homecoming, The Greatest Showman and Shake It Up. She's not only a huge Hollywood hit but also a style icon...

Just this week she traded her actress and songstress title for a fashion editorial role at Boohoo. The end result was The Zendaya Edit: a beautifully arranged selection of athleisure, '90s denim, jumpsuits, cropped tops, slogan tees, pastel hues and super seventies bell-bottoms.

Zendaya enjoys wearing a sheer bustier as a top instead of a shirt. The graphic Dior skirt and red lip made the bold choice look oh so glam.#222222">

Futuristic vibes

For a holiday party she opted for a clear rhinestone mini and turtleneck at the Star Wars premiere.#000000">

Tent-style pants

Although it looks like she paired her knotted crop top with a high-waisted skirt, she's actually wearing super wide-leg pants. Pair them with an equally cool same pattern crop top.#000000">

Flirty ruffles

Zendaya looked pretty in a blue lacy dress. The bow around her neck and waist were the perfect accents to make the dress pop.#000000">

Having mother day just around the corner, I find this image of Sarah Jessica Parker with her daughters really lovely.  SJP looks so put together and chic as always with that gorgeous sheer dress and updo. And the girls with those flower dresses that just scream spring are extremely cute.  Love a good mother and daughter fashion look.  photo credit: @whowhatwear on twitter  #outfit #spring #look #mothersday

Being a bold lip color girl, I've wanting to try the generation G lipstick from glossier for way too long.  Seems pretty good that the bright shades are sheer on the lips and they leave a stain effect. Perfect for an everyday makeup look.  Photo Credit: @matildaonvideo on Instagram #beauty #makeup #glossier #look

It seems as if the embroidery trend has been the focal point of many designer shows for the past last seasons. From Gucci to Kenzo, Dior, and Coach they have provided us with impressive offerings of embroidered pieces that we can finally find now on the high street! The designs range from roses, coral snakes, rockets and tigers designers are really using their imagination and taking us into their embroidered fantasy worlds.

Sheer is another strong trend and partnered with embroidery makes for a really powerful look! Bodysuits, mesh t-shirts and bralettes are great pieces to wear for festivals and really make a statement. If you are more discrete in your style then go for something more modest like an embroidered tee, a handbag or shoes.

Check our selected edit of designer and high street embroidered clothing and accessories below including Coach bags and Gucci trainers. Embroidered Kenzo tiger espadrilles are ideal for the summer months... Spice up your wardrobe and bring a little fantasy into your life!

Who doesn't want to know more about obtaining a youthful, glowing complexion? After the world’s obsession with the 10-step Korean routine, the latest beauty trend to emerge from K-beauty is Glass Skin.

What is Glass Skin?

The word "glass" conjures thoughts of a sheer, crystal-like complexion. But how can you really get your skin to look like that? A clear, poreless complexion is one of the main goals for beauty buffs and according to the experts, glass skin is a new look created by layering products very specifically onto the face.

How to get Glass Skin?

According to the K-beauty aficionados, your path to perfect skin is an amalgamation of layering lightweight products and following with myriad formulas. However, the first and most important step is double cleansing. No, we don't mean lathering and rinsing twice but rather using one product to remove all makeup and debris while employing another one to cleanse and get rid of dirt and bacteria.

After completing the first step, it's on to a seven skin method routine which includes multiple layers of hydrating toner, followed by a pore-refining essence and an ultra-rich moisturizer. For mega impressive results add another step of exfoliation that removes dead skin to reveal a radiant and fresh complexion. Finally, complete the glass skin routine by applying a super-rich moisturizer and there you have it, clear skin to rival the most dedicated Korean beauty bloggers.

Ready to get started? Head to our gallery for more K-beauty inspiration and shop the entire seven step routine from our edit below…

Ice cream chic is a now thing and well before gelato season. Fashion's affinity for the pastel pile-up from the cones to the runway took the form of head-to-toe violet at Victoria Beckham, lemon sorbet at Hermés and pistachio hues at Sies Marjan and it's our Instacrush of the week.

At Helmut Lang, Shayne Oliver took blushing pink and morphed it into its adversary: fetishwear, while Raf Simons at Calvin Klein took baby blue babydolls and turned them into a Rosemary's Baby sinister version. This playfulness aesthetic came about at a year that yearns for aggressive celebration. Winter's metallics, feathers, glitter, rainbows and all round sparkle surrounding a Buz Luhrmann movie set, is the perfect testament to the celebratory moto.

Feel good fashion also was translated into pencil skirts and sheer layers that we can wiggle and shimmy in. Our staples like our trench coats, faux fur coats slip dresses and boots are receiving the joyful reincarnation of their own. Embellishments, diamonds, broaches, and lavish bandanas that would make any fashion girl sigh.

Stockholm Fashion Editor and street style extraordinaire Jeanette Madsen is an ice cream hue aficionado. She has the engaging ability to effortlessly combine pastel shades and evading the baby connotations at the same time.

Margot Robbie may not have left the Oscars with an award but she floated into the after party with a killer outfit. For me this is how sheer should be done. Sheer is always sexy, even here when it's not clinging to Margot's figure. The tulle brushes over her elegantly. Of course the top is the star of the show, or party in this case. Not a single inch of the dress is lacking in jewel. Margot was sure to be catching every light, and every eye. Image: Getty Images
