Struggling to sleep in the summer heat? You’re not the only one. Seems like everyone’s circadian patterns are being disrupted by these warm summer nights but don’t fret, help is on the way…   


A decent night’s sleep is essential for our physical and mental health so eight hours of undisturbed shut-eye is a must. If the summer weather is keeping you up, try these tips to rest a little better and wake up feeling fresh.

Breathe

Deep breathing is the easiest way to relax so invest in essential oils, diffusers or pillow sprays and practice deep breathing for ten minutes while you settle down to sleep. You’ll find this helps you drift off quickly and that your heartbeat stays regular, helping you to sleep deeply and calmly.   

Lighten up

Opt for light layers made from natural fabrics like cotton, silk and linen. A pair of silk and lace pyjama shorts with a strappy camisole will feel cool and gentle against your skin, whereas an oversized cotton shirt will help your skin breathe in the heat.

Go natural

Choosing natural bed linen will also help to regulate your temperature while you sleep so consider investing in pure cotton and linen sheets and pillowcases.   

Cover up

No, we don’t mean cover your skin – just your eyes. Using a soft silk or cotton eye mask will encourage a deeper sleep. A gentle weight across the brow bones can help with relaxation and as sleep experts will tell you, the darker your surroundings are, the better you’ll sleep.

Just a few minutes of practice per day can help ease stress. According to research, a daily meditation session can transform the brain's neural pathways making you more resilient to stress and better at regulating your thoughts.

Exercise is your go-to tip to combat those strung-out feelings because believe it or not, putting physical stress on your body through exercise can help relieve mental stress. 

People who exercise regularly are less like to experience anxiety because exercise lowers the body's stress hormones and helps release endorphins aka the all-natural happiness drug.

The third one at the right lacks definition on the beautiful curvy silhouette of the girl. Maybe with a good belt, it could be a winner.  The one in the center, I mean, the dress is beautiful but I wouldn´t pair it with that hat. The dress is very romantic and the hat is kind of edgy. If the girl would have an updo or some nice relax waves on the hair, again a winner.  And now the winner, the one in the left. Everything is right with this outfit, the gorgeous plaid against the white, the hat, the little clutch. We are all glued (and most people will admit- addicted) to our phones, whether we like it or not most of use are dependant on our devices. Email, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat or Instragram, we are constantly looking for a sense of gratification on social media. But why not try switching off now and again and trying some new hobbies.#000000"> Switch off and relax. Switching off from social media is a great way to relax stop our brains going into overdrive. Why not try things the old fashioned way and channel our energy into spending quality time with  friends and family, doing activities.


Meditation and relaxation can be a great way to really relax and spend time with your thoughts.Try a new hobby- there are plenty of new ways to enjoy time away from a screen. Madeline Shaw, the health and fitness author switched off from social media after having her first child to spend time with her newborn away from the pressures of posting. She found there were some great benefits and admitted she saved hours of time instead of wasting it searching through other peoples accounts. Just around Springtime, we all think of a little weekend retreat. It's the perfect way to have some fun and relax without breaking the bank. So now you've booked the flights, and can't wait to enjoy your newly reserved Airbnb or hotel room. But, before all of that, you need to go through the tedious task of packing. Unfortunately, packing for a quick getaway might be more daunting than a longer trip as you have to fit all of your essentials in a small travel bag. In other words, packing smart and making the most out of limited space is of the essence. 


Here are the five essentials you'll need for a quick getaway: 

CLOTHES 

Take advantage of an app like AccuWeather and check the following 7 days. Then, you can plan ahead for the exact outfits you'll need instead of guessing if you'll need a coat for example or a light denim jacket. Open your closet and choose your favourite day and slip dress, shorts, t-shirts, and sleepwear. 

SHOES 

It's true that many times we tend to pack items that we don't even take out of the suitcase and that usually involves high stilettos that are too uncomfortable for holiday life. Instead, go for a pair of sliders if you're going to a warmer climate or trainers. Try smart pointy flats, ancient Greek sandals or a pair of your comfiest mid-heel ankle boots.

SWIMWEAR 

If you are going to a summer holiday resort, you should pack at least two pairs of bathing suits. Try a bikini and a one piece for variety. Pack a sarong wrap or a comfy skirt that you can sport to the nearby cafe after your morning dip.

ACCESSORIES

If you buy one for summer, you can buy another one for a relax day in winter time. The black colour slims your body and the colourful pieces highlight your beauty.
