As there is an international day for everything, past Monday was Fanny Pack day. Once a dorky item, the belt bag celebrating hands-free life became a true celebrity staple. Best-sellers, they have yet to reach their peak.

This now must-have item made an incredible comeback this year, cinching every trendy waist. Fanny pack, belt bag, bum bag: you name it! This accessory was spotted on every influencer, hitting the streets after every fashion show. Part of a bigger 80-90s revival trend, the belt bag has changed a lot since its older sister version, and has nothing to do with your parents holiday looks.

While seen as a fashion faux-pas before, wearers as Kanye West or the it-models Kaia Gerber and Bella Hadid incorporated the luxury version of the belt bag into their looks. Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Balenciaga made their own version, which has nothing to envy to more “classic” bags.

Worn across the waist or as cross-body bags, this retro accessory will instantly elevate your outfit. And as Spring is finally starting to show up, you can trade the bag-over-puffer-jacket for a sweater and jean jacket version. Think oversize knitwear and long skirts to play on volumes. For a more evening look, use it as a regular belt on a fitted turtle neck dress. And if you don’t feel confident enough to sport the touristy look, loop the bag through jeans like Karlie Kloss.

Find styling inspiration in the gallery above then shop your favourite belt bags in our edit.

Moschino has painted their models like smurfs. As if it were an interstellar trip, Jeremy Scott has recalled the futuristic style of the 60s, with dresses and short coats in full colour decorated with zippers and wide belts. A style that at times reminds Jackie Kennedy, with his hat and matching gloves, and others to the efficient stewardesses of the time.Credits: pinterest

The Moschino look was fuelled by pastels. Pink lips and glittering eyes were painted onto the Moschino models thanks to Kabuki. Whilst it was mainly cat-eye flicks and Jackie O wigs some of the models were painted in bright hues to offset the colours of the clothes. This is a look that can totally be recreated with a slick of liquid liner and some light blush. Image: Jamie Stoker

Fashion and surrealism was a relationship no one expected in the 1930s. Elsa Schiaparelli and Salvador Dali was the power duo of the time as they introduced the surrealistic movement into fashion. Franco Moschino pursued this and still pursuing this today. But we would never think Dior would also join the surrealism movement. Maria Grazia Chiuri revived Christian Dior’s previous work with Leonor Fini. The Couture Show held in the Museé Rodin was a surrealists’ dream to watch! #surrealism #surrealist #salvadordali #elsaschiaparelli #dior #christiandior #paris #couture #hautecouture #mariagraziachiuri

Zendaya recently wore this stunning butterfly inspired Moschino dress to the premiere of her new film The Greatest Showman. Nature often inspires fashion, be it in shapes or colours but it's rare to see someone pull off such an extreme look. Zendaya makes this look incredibly stylish and I can't imagine anyway else making it look so chic. Image: Elle.com
