Wedding season is here, but if you’re not quite ready to give Meghan and Harry a run for their money – and let’s face it, who can afford to cater for 600 people? – you might want to consider a few shortcuts. We caught up with Fern Godfrey, Editor of the UK’s biggest Wedding blog Rock My Wedding, to discover her tips for planning your dream day on a budget…

What do you love most about being the Editor of Rock My Wedding? Rock My Wedding was founded by Charlotte O’Shea in 2009, when she was planning her own wedding, it’s grown hugely since then and we’re now a team of 10. I’ve been Editor at Rock My Wedding since 2015 and I absolutely love my job.

We get to share people’s love stories every single day, work with beautiful flowers and dresses, and champion incredible wedding suppliers with our directory, The List. The best bit is seeing the wedding photographs of brides who have read RMW religiously while planning their own weddings –- it’s such a great feeling.

What do you find are the most popular wedding themes?

We feature a lot of rustic luxe weddings -– industrial and agricultural buildings with lots of exposed brick and lofty beams, filled with flowers and candles. This theme works beautifully for weddings across Europe as we have so many incredible historic and working buildings to use. The weather in the UK doesn’t always allow for the amazing outdoor celebrations we feature from France, Italy and Spain, but all of the weddings we blog are amazing in their own unique way.

How can one plan a beautiful wedding on a budget?

If you want to save money while planning your big day, then the key thing is decide on what is important to you as a couple. If you chose the areas you’re going to spend on, then you can try to save on the others.

Do you really need wedding favours? Can you serve canapés as a starter and wedding cake as your dessert? Have you considered a Spotify play list rather than a band? Do you really need a pair of designer shoes? If flowers aren’t important to you, then use local foliage and seasonal blooms. The one thing we’d always recommend spending on is professional photographs and a film – these things will allow you to remember your big day forever and so they are the most important part.

Can you share any useful DIY tips?

We’ve created a couple of floral DIY’s for Rock My Wedding readers. The first is a chair back arrangement to take your seating to the next level. The other is for a classic flower crown – these are very popular with boho bridesmaids, especially at cool, rustic weddings out in the countryside, but you can use any kind of flower to achieve the look and feel you want. There are plenty of examples on the Rock My Wedding Instagram feed.

As an expert, what would you pack for a destination wedding?

As a wedding guest? A floral maxi dress, a wide brimmed hat and some sunglasses. As the bride? A soft and flowing gown, some pretty sandals and lots of Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Pressed Powder.

Shop Fern’s edit for the perfect pieces to make your day special, whatever your budget and wherever you’re heading to tie the knot…

Forget muted tones and sleek silhouettes, this spring designers are opting for maximalism, and the bolder and brighter the better. One of our favourite takes on the trend comes from Colombian designer Johanna Ortiz and luxury online retailer mytheresa.com. The pair have collaborated to create a statement nine-piece capsule collection sold exclusively at mytheresa.com

Known for contrasting vibrant, festive design with flattering and creative shapes, Johanna looked to the stylish city of Cartagena, Spain for the collection’s inspiration. ‘For me, Cartagena is visual poetry,’ says Johanna. ‘The essence of the place is a conductor of creative energy and inspiration. It is the hometown of magical realism.’

Oversized polka dots on silk, voluminous ruffles and striking tropical prints are the focus of this collection with thigh-high splits and deep V-neck styles adding extra flair. The collection includes maxi dresses, statement tops, swimsuits and kimonos - perfect for brightening up your wardrobe for SS18.

Whether you’re jetting off to warmer climes, getting festival-ready for Coachella this month or simply looking to maximise your new-season wardrobe, this exclusive collection inspired by sunny Spanish resorts is the one you’ve been waiting for.

I remember cowboy boots being a thing when I was about seven years old. I loved my cowboy boots. But then, what happened? Why has it taken so long for them to come back into fashion? It really surprises me as every decade is constantly in and out of fashion that we haven't donned cowboy boots for years. These Lucchese Belle boots are gorgeous. I love the patterned detailing, completely in line with the design but a little more modern in feel. Pair these with jeans for the classic 'wild west' look or with a boho maxi dress to update it. Satin isn't a material I wear often - if at all - and I would always see it as evening wear attire. Apparently I am wrong on both accounts and should in fact be wearing it, and wearing it in the day. That's right not only is satin the material to choose this season but also one to be worn for every day not only evening occasions. Pair a maxi satin dress with some brogues for a fun day look or even trainers to dress the look down. Would you give it a go? Image: Vogue.com

With my new found love for trainers, that I discussed in a post last week, has come searching for trends I can pair them with. My favourite look for summer is definitely going to be floaty maxi dresses. Paired with trainers or even boots dresses like this are so versatile especially for everyday. With different jackets and accessories these dresses are perfect for work or for warm holiday evenings. Image: Vogue

After two years and four seasons, Gigi Hadid and Tommy Hilfiger went out with a bang yesterday in Milan! They 've already offered us many impressive moments: From turning a New York pier into a carnival, a Malibu beach intro the grounds of a music festival and a venue in London into a  "Rock Circus".

22-year-old Gigi Hadid, who is the face of the brand, she appeared in show-stopping outfits including a TH x GH T-shirt which showed off her chiselled abs. She teamed it with a pair of almost spray-on tight leather trousers as she sashayed her way in front of an eager audience on a runway which was designed like a race track. The venue was complete with a Tommy x Gigi shop, Formula One race cars and over 2,000 guests.

For her second appearance, Gigi wore a one-shoulder form-fitting white top, paired with a maxi skirt featuring a very sexy thigh-split. Her long caramel blonde hair was styled in two sleek tiny plaits that showed off the bold metallic eye-shadow and a matte brown lip.

Her sister, Bella, 21, wore a minuscule crop top teamed with a striped skirt and trainers, accessorising with a visor and black and white checkerboard prints. For her evening look, she changed into a zip-up tight dress with a maxi skirt featuring sheer details.

The collection heavily featured 90's revival items including sleek bike and box shorts, oversized sweatshirts, bandeau tops and cardigans. The House's staples such as the classic Hilfiger polo patterned bike shorts and khaki sets were revamped. Gigi closed the show as she waved to the crowd, with the designer himself, Tommy Hilfiger.

Head to our gallery to discover the best moments from the show and shop everything Tommy Hilfiger from our expert edit below.#000000">

Kudos to Kylie Jenner for one-upping the Super Bowl by announcing the birth of her daughter. The youngest member of the reality TV clan released a youtube video tribute to her newborn on Sunday revealing previously unseen footage of her pregnancy, intimate moments with her family and the birth. What struck us was how Jenner stayed true to her style even as her body changed- sticking to mostly oversized t-shirts and sweats that comfortably hid the bump while she was keeping the news under wraps. But when she wanted to show it off among her friends and family: it was body-con dresses all the way- mini, maxi whatever. Now as Jenner is just 20, you may think that her age played a role in her decision not to adopt traditional maternity wear and keep an eye on the trends, but other pregnant women with enviable wardrobes have done the same. (Side note: did you see her daughter’s wardrobe? North West’s got serious competition as Kris Jenner’s best dressed granddaughter).

We did a double take when we saw the Duchess of Cambridge in that head-turning Erdem gown during her royal visit to Sweden. Wow. Yellow, florals, ruffled detail, that’s at least three enduring trends tick tick ticked. She looked stunning and arguably the best we’ve seen her look since she entered the spotlight as William’s girlfriend. The dress skimmed delightfully over her neat bump without making her look bulky, proving that more fitted silhouettes aren’t out of the question for eveningwear if they fit properly. Get a tailor if needed. In fact the whole trip threw up some great looks- the red and white houndstooth coat (similar to Princess Diana’s) and another floral Erdem dress- in blue velvet the second time.

But what about if you’re more tomboyish or you have your own distinctive look? Enter streetstyle star Veronika Heilbrunner who announced her pregnancy last month and hasn’t changed her style one jot. She still showing off her endless legs (in tights as it’s winter), wearing mini or clingy dresses with chunky boots and bold bags. The only discerning change is maybe she’s wearing less trousers than usual but time will tell and she’s got months and fashion weeks of pregnancy to go. It will be interesting to see how and if her sartorial taste changes. Katherine Ormerod is another fashionable women lauded for her outfits. In her own words and judging by her instagram feed, she’s actually kept on wearing her pre-pregnancy pieces with clever layering. It seems she was fond of oversized silhouettes anyway which have been able to accommodate her bump.

All in all, these four women demonstrate four different-but-successful approaches to pregnancy dressing. Pick your favourite and shop their looks in our edits below.
