COS has long been a style set staple – from Bauhaus-inspired accessories to impossibly soft cashmere essentials and ultra-cool oversized silhouettes, the brand’s designs always hit the sweet spot between effortless cool and minimalist elegance.

There’s a lot to be said for the COS approach to gendered dressing too. It’s styles are androgynous, oversized or tailored to perfection – ideal for back to school season and lazy girl office attire.

Now that fall has arrived we’ve been keeping our eyes peeled for simple staples to make layering up that little bit easier. Naturally, COS is our go-to for this.

The brand’s Fall/Winter18 collection blends cool neutral tones with textural wool, felt and leather while sticking to those modernist silhouettes we all know and love.

Drawing inspiration from the shapes found where architecture meets the forest and sea, the collection was shot by photographer VIVIANE SASSEN. Textural contrasts give the impression of rough industrial surfaces juxtaposed with fluid natural lines.

Black silk is the hero of the collection with dresses, pants, blouses and jackets taking centre stage. The beauty of these pieces is of course that they can be layered with just about anything for work, the weekend and beyond.

We’re filling our closets for the cooler season to come and we’ve also created an edit of our favourite COS pieces.

Véronique Forge-Karibian Founder of the French platform for female entrepreneurs, Business O Feminin, lets us in on her secrets to a healthy work/life balance, her go-to brands and how to succeed as a woman in business...

Why did you create Business O Feminin?

I had the chance to work on a show about women called Women of Exception for several years in which I interviewed women with like Christine Lagarde and Simone Veil but also business minds like Mathilde Thomas of Caudalie and artists like Dee Bridgewater.

What fascinates me about all these women is their path in life, their thread and the entanglement of the circumstances that helped them find their way. Through Businessofeminin.com, I wanted to give all women the ability to fulfil their professional potential and develop their full personal potential.

How do you juggle your personal life and your career?

I am fortunate to have help with my two children who are still young. I also try to spare some time for myself – I lived in London for nine years and in that time I started playing a lot of sports, which I still love to do. In the mornings I have my rituals and begin the day by using the Calm app to meditate. It’s a great little app that helps teach a life-changing practice.

What are the pieces in your wardrobe that make you feel most confident?

I like to feel comfortable in my clothes and not be too overdressed. I'm pretty keen on suede jackets, especially from the brand Van Palma. I wear them with jeans by Closed or leather pants by Fête Impérial. I’m also a hat person and I love Estrée for these.

What essentials do you always carry with you?

I always carry a pouch that turns into an evening bag in my handbag and in terms of other essentials I really like Clio Goldbrenner's new chic and practical collection. As for beauty, I carry a survival kit comprised of Mademoiselle Saint Germain's eye cream with cucumber, Glossier's pink blush and my favourite, By Terry's rose balm for my lips.

Long days at the office can take its toll on your skin. Tell us about your skincare routine…

Always remove make up before bed, apply a mask twice a week and stay hydrated. This season I’ve been road testing a cream by Raw Material and a pomegranate serum from Wisdom Cares. I also do a deep skin cleanse every month to maintain a healthy glow.

Who inspires you?

I have a lot of admiration for Arianna Huffington, the founder of the Huffington Post, whom I had the chance to meet in London. She is extremely intelligent, cultured and visionary and the proof is in her new project, Thrive Global, a media platform geared towards personal development. She has drawn on her own experiences of burn out in order to help people take a step back and enjoy the multiple aspects of their lives.

What would you say is the secret recipe for becoming an accomplished businessperson?

Finding a balance between personal and professional life and always saving a little time for yourself. Before you start, meet other entrepreneurs to exchange experiences, ideas and insights and join existing communities, like the Business O Feminine Club. We organise monthly meetings with entrepreneurs, coaches and leaders to share knowledge and give women the tools they need to succeed.

What is your favourite motivational quote?

I have two… "They did not know it was impossible, so they did it" – Mark Twain. "Well behaved women rarely make history." – Eleonor Roosevelt.

Keeping your vitamin and mineral levels in check is vital if you want to feel happy and healthy all winter long but sometimes this can be a challenge, especially when the sun's hiding away.

Vitamin D deficiency is pretty common in the UK so it's important to make sure you're getting enough of the sun vitamin to keep your bones and muscles healthy.

Our bodies produce Vitamin D to regulate our calcium and phosphate levels and usually, the sun's rays help us to do this. But in winter, we need a little help.

Opt for a Vitamin D supplement and go for foods and recipes that contain it, like oily fish, eggs and fortified cereals and juices.

Taking magnesium with Vitamin D can help too so try bath salts and skincare and beauty products that contain this magic ingredient.

Finally, make sure your skin is ready for the sun when it does appear by keeping it exfoliated and moisturised. This also boosts your healthy cell renewal to keep you looking and feeling fresh.

Halloween is here but if you're still worrying about what to dress up as later, don't fret... We looked to our favourite influencers for a few pointers on how to get into the spooky spirit.

If time isn't on your side and you don't have a costume sorted, make up is your friend. There are plenty of simple tutorials online and we've picked out one of our favourites for a quick and easy Halloween transformation, courtesy of beauty vlogger Chrisspy

For a long lasting finish to keep you going all night, base your face with a classic primer, followed by a layer of foundation to even out your skin tone, this is great for the areas you won't be applying white face paint to.

Once your base is set, you can begin applying your white make up cream with a brush, blending in any larger areas with a clean sponge. Work your way around half the face and leave to set before starting with the black face paint.

Watch the video above for a detailed tutorial shop all the extras you'll need in our edit below...

Move over mini, take a hike maxi – the midi is fashion's go-to skirt silhouette this season. Long enough to shield your pins from those cool October breezes but short enough to showcase your ultra-cool autumn boots and a well-chosen sock – if that's your jam – the midi skirt is the perfect low-effort piece to rock now.

Plus, with styles in satin, tulle, animal print and metallics with ruffles, wrap fronts and pleats to choose from, it's easy to switch up your skirt for any occasion. We suggest rocking yours with a simple black jumper, layered necklaces and a cool biker jacket.

For night, team your midi skirt with a silky camisole and complete the look with block-heeled sandals and a statement clutch in mock crock or with jazzy embellishments.

Want to try the look for yourself? We've picked out the best midi skirts for every budget. Browse the edit below to save and shop your favourites...

The newly-launched collection includes the long-awaited and ever-iconic Charlotte Tilbury Advent Calendar. This year’s is as glitzy as they come, embellished with sparkles and packed with beauty treats.

Priced as last year’s was at £150, the Charlotte’s Beauty Universe Advent Calendar is a beauty buff’s dream and well worth the spend with 12 full-size products inside its beautiful doors and drawers.

The biggest surprise, however, is the new Stars In Your Eyes palette comprised of 12 shimmering tones created to complement any and all skin tones that range from ‘happy eyes’ to ‘power eyes’.

The new collection also includes some very handy minis, including the Mini Hollywood Liquid Lipstick Charms – perfect for that teeny tiny bag – and the Magical Mini Brush Set – Charlotte’s award-winning make up brushes in a sparkling rose-gold travel case.

The Gift Of Magical Skin also features some of the brand’s bestselling skincare favourites in miniature but our favourite part of the new drop has to be the Superstar Lips Lipstick made with real diamond dust and available in six glossy shades. We’ll take one of each.

Autumn is finally upon us, and that means endless cosy nights in with your favourite Netflix series and plenty of time to pamper yourself. After a long summer of balmy nights and a few too many Aperol Spritzes, it’s probably about time you gave your skincare routine a refresh.

The sudden change in temperature can really take a toll on your complexion, so switch to a creamy cleanser that purifies your skin without stripping its natural oils and, as a result, drying it out – we recommend looking for a solution that doesn’t foam up.

Hold back from using harsh daily toners and incorporate a soothing serum into your beauty line-up. Look for a milky plumping formula with aloe vera and vitamin C to replenish and revive your skin.

Once the clocks go back, it’s all about getting an early night, so there’s no better time to step up your evening routine. Switch your lightweight moisturiser for a rich, hydrating night cream and let it works its magic while you sleep.

It’s easy to see why the teddy coat has become the cover-up of choice for influencers and editors alike – not only is it incredibly warm, it also looks effortlessly cool with anything.   So, when the temperature drops below freezing and you don’t want to sacrifice your style, you know exactly what piece to invest in. Here’s how to wear autumn’s cosiest coat like a street style star.

Maxi

Spotted on the runway at Giambattista Valli and Max Mara, long teddy coats are the ultimate way to beat the cold – and look super chic while doing it. These styles look best worn with skinny jeans and flat loafers, à la Giorgia Tordini.

Supersized

Hailey Baldwin and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley have both been snapped in oversized teddy coats, and we can’t think of a better way to stay warm when the winter weather hits. Layer yours over leather leggings or give it a sporty spin with this season’s chunky sneakers.

Cropped

Shorter styles are just as cosy – influencers Camille Charrière and Jessie Bush are both fans. Choose a camel hue and try pairing yours with high-rise black trousers (extra points for patent styles) and ankle boots.

Though the summer runway offered us oversized jewelry, seashell-inspired silhouettes and mixed metals, AW is toning things down a little with the biggest trends set to be a lot more delicate and decidedly more minimalist...

Layers on layers

Layered accessories had a serious moment in summer 2018 and from the looks of things the trend isn't going anywhere. Group necklaces, bangles and rings of different lengths, textures and weights together to nail the look.

Delicate chains

Forego your chunky chains in favour of barely there chains adorned with pendants and charms. Layer these up or wear a long chain solo with a lightweight knit for a subtle hint of sparkle.

Cosmic power

Suns, moons, stars... the cosmos is all the rage. Pendants, studs and rings inspired by the heavens are set to reign supreme this fall.

Rose gold

Reflect fall's warm color palette with glossy rose gold pieces. Mix them with your staples or opt for simple rose gold hoops and bangles from the likes of style set favourites like Tous and Monica Vinader.

Fleece or shearling jackets were only for hiking. But that was a long time ago and now shearling jackets are a trend item. If you’re complaining that nothing makes you feel warm enough for winter, this is the answer to your prayers! Last season these were teddy coats that were faux fur, but this season it has got an update and now they are fleece or shearling which is better to keep you cozy in cold weather. #winter #shearling #fleece #jackets #coats #teddy #trend #streetstyle #style #fashion

Okay, so checks may be nothing new – they’ve been a staple in autumn wardrobes for as long as we can remember – but this season, street style stars have gone wild for them. From heritage houndstooth to Prince of Wales and plaid, there’s not one single check that wasn’t seen on the AW18 runway.

There are endless ways to wear this trend, so we’ve done the hard work for you and picked out our favourite checked pieces for the new season – here’s how to wear them...

Go monochrome

If head-to-toe patterns aren’t your thing, make like influencer Lucy Williams and keep the look low-key with black checked trousers – keep them cropped and team them with a camel knit and ankle boots for a modern take.

Keep it classic

Fact: a checked wool coat or blazer is always going to look cool. Our tip? Choose a slightly oversized silhouette for a look that feels more fresh.

Suit up

Checked tailoring was a key trend on the AW runways – see Balenciaga and Stella McCartney. If you’re going for a suit, just be sure to choose a relaxed fit and balance the look with sneakers or slides.
