Unfortunatelly, rainy days are coming, but don't worry, you can be elegant this way. Be brave to wear shorts with ankle boots, and a biker jacket. Don't forget to get stockings on. #ootd

Now that September's here and New York Fashion Week has graced us once again, it’s time to reflect on the trends we saw on the runways and get excited about wearing them in real life. Here’s our round-up of the top ten trends we loved at NYFW and the ones you'll be seeing everywhere...

Animal print

Already spotted on our favorite street style stars, animal prints ruled the New York runways. Tom Ford’s came in every shape and color you could imagine, but classic leopard patterns still dominate – see Victoria Beckham’s timeless coats.

Western boots

From slouchy over-the-knee shapes to classic cowboy styles, plenty of Western boots were worn on the runway this season. Whichever you choose, show them off with cropped denim or maximalist dresses.

Checks

They may be nothing new, but checks are about to have a major moment. Michael Kors and Calvin Klein 205W39NYC both showed punk-inspired tartan coats – we’ll be wearing them with denim and chunky boots.

Logomania

Logo prints have ruled the street style circuit for several seasons now, and they’re not going anywhere – Alexander Wang’s embellished tracksuits and Tom Ford’s sequined sweatshirts are proof if proof were ever needed.

Neon

Already championed by Kim Kardashian, neon brights popped up everywhere. We loved Calvin Klein’s industrial-style jackets and Tibi’s fluorescent sweaters teamed with low-key camel tailoring.

‘70s brown

Coach and Self-Portrait both showed plenty of ‘70s-inspired brown hues, proving the trend has serious staying power. Try a belted coat or midi dress for a timeless feel.

Colorful suiting

Navy and black will no longer do – suits this season came in every color possible. From candy pinks to pastel blues, any shade goes as long as you’re wearing it from head to toe.

‘80s maximalism

Tom Ford proved the ‘80s are here to stay for another season with purple leopard-print leggings, sequins and shoulder pads.

Modern sports

Sportswear is now a staple on the runway, and this season it came in sleek silhouettes with industrial details – think quilted nylon midi skirts and oversized drawstring pants.

The new utility

Military-inspired pieces make their way onto the catwalk every fall, and with good reason: a classic double-breasted coat or khaki jacket will never go out of style.

It’s official: the colour of autumn 2018 is undisputedly orange. Whether you rock a neon shade or a rich vintage-inspired hue, orange is the cheerful champion of our cool-weather line-ups…

Successfully wearing the colour is, however, easier said than done. It’s a bold shade and one that’s best sported with an all-or-nothing approach. We looked to our editors for a few tips on how to nail the autumnal trend sweeping Instagram.

Oversized

A statement colour calls for a statement silhouette so go big or go home with this one, literally. Think oversized duster coats and puffer styles, flared or wide-leg trousers and boxy shirts and tees. A maxi dress or skirt is always a winner too.

Utilitarian

The sporty, utility-inspired trend is big for AW18 so think less ‘70s corduroy and more futuristic crepe and lamé. Try sporting simple culottes with a cropped metallic jacket or opt for a simple military-inspired look with a button-down shirt and straight-leg trousers in bright orange tones.

Androgynous

Gender fluidity is back and here to stay this season. Rock your orange pieces in simple silhouettes and cool, understated layers. Give sports-luxe a go with an orange varsity jacket, trending camouflage prints and matching chunky-soled sneakers.

Colour blocked

Brave enough to try head-to-toe orange? Be sure to stay consistent with your choice of shade. Whether you opt for a pop-bright tone or a pale peachy orange, match your ensemble exactly to nail this season’s hottest colour trend.

A recent Instagram post of Kim Kardashian already has over three million likes (and counting) – while that may be to do with the fact she looks great, we think the neon-pink dress she’s wearing definitely helps.

Blame Balenciaga – the label kicked off the trend on the Paris runway – but everyone is rocking this look right now. Kim K has since been spotted in a series of more neon looks, along with her sister Kylie Jenner, Bella Hadid and Blake Lively. Convinced yet?

This micro trend is part of the ‘80s theme seen across plenty of Fall ‘18 collections, and it’s the perfect way to refresh your fall wardrobe – an antidote to a usually understated season of gray, black and navy.

So, want to know how to wear neon satin now? It’s easier than you think. For Monday to Friday, take your styling cues from the Balenciaga runway and try a fluorescent top under a tailored jacket for a subtle flash of color.

When it comes to the weekend, try neon-striped track pants or high-vis sneakers for an instant off-duty refresh. At night, anything goes: a neon satin clutch, a pair of pumps or a figure-hugging dress is all you need to make an impact.

With cooler weather just around the corner it’s time to start thinking about layering up. Obviously we’re not talking winter coats just yet but a jacket is always a good idea.

We recommend embracing the sporty, laid-back looks dominating the runway of late and lending your fall-ready ensemble an edge with a varsity jacket, a classic bomber or a baseball-inspired style.

Rolled out by Gucci and Chanel with luxe sequinned twists and cool monogramming and adopted by affordable brands here, there and everywhere in satin, velvet and crepe iterations, a boxy jacket is a guaranteed wardrobe hero.

Browse our pick of the best for men and women – remember a piece like this always looks cool oversized and layered – and shop the edit below…

Sure sequins are a holiday party staple but does that mean they should only be worn during winter? We say no. Summer is the perfect time to sport a glittering ensemble so take note of these essential styling tips...

A summer tan really pops against metallics so opt for gold, silver and rose gold numbers. These light reflecting pieces will work wonders after dark.

Black, white or a light cream tone always works for an event so if you've got a summer party to attend, consider investing in a classic silhouette in a neutral tone and adding sequinned accessories. Or if you're feeling like only a statement will do, rock a sequinned dress in classic black or gold.

Planning to dance the night away? Sequinned shoes are the order of the evening. Just remember that if your shoes are glittering, keep everything else pared down to avoid overkill.

If you're heading to a more laid-back event like brunch with friends or maybe a festival, a sequin-embellished jacket or blazer is the perfect addition to distressed denim. Just add your favourite white tee and sunnies.

As Fall 2018 seems not so far away, we should start to check out the trend of the upcoming season. If you’re about going all the way with fashion trends, here is something you will love to try; extreme layering! As winter is colder and summer is hotter these past few years, I’d never say no to layering. Wear your hoodie over a sweater, then wear a jacket, then wear a vest on top… If you think you will look ridiculous think again… Because now it is a trend! #layering #layer #trend #autumn #fall #winter #streetstyle #style #fashion

We have it on good authority that the ninties never went out of style. In fact, everyone from Bella Hadid to our favourite fashion bloggers has rocked a classic pair of adidas trainers or an oversized sporty tee with mini frames of late.

One of the easiest ‘90s trends to channel, the sports luxe look pays homage to the likes of TLC, sporty spice and the off-duty style of powerhouses like Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell.

Enduringly cool, comfortable and surprisingly sleek, here’s how to work the look while still looking chic and polished…

Balance it

Unless it’s freezing out and you’ve got a killer handbag, avoid the full tracksuit. Instead opt for a pair of relaxed joggers and a cropped T-shirt or a zip-down jacket with vintage-style logo detailing with cool shorts or a mini skirt.

Accessorise

This look is all about accessories so whether you go for tinted shades, hoop earrings or a statement belt bag, forget the less is more rule and layer up – otherwise you might be mistaken for somebody on their way to the gym.

Outside the box

Make the trend your own by teaming sporty trainers with a logo tee and a denim jacket or team a cute sports bra with a blazer. Knot your T-shirt, opt for statement socks and have a little fun with mixing and matching.

You know how some things simply work well together, no questions asked? Like peanut butter and jelly, gin and tonic and of course, all-white ensembles and summer days…

There's something about nailing an all-white outfit that makes you feel and look extra elegant despite the heat. White is our go-to during the summer months and the head-to-toe look is having a moment right now, which is great, if you can get it right. Read on for our tips on how to nail the trend with ease…

White denim

A white pair of jeans is the ideal base, allowing you to experiment with a whole host of options. Opt for faithful cuts that you’d usually rock in blue or black washes and team with a white tee or a silk blouse. Too hot for jeans? Try pressed denim culottes or a distressed off-white skirt for a rock’n’roll twist on the look.

White shoes

White mules were basically invented for summer but if you don’t fancy wearing a heel for your day-to-day, opt for a cool pair of pool slides and pair them with a white summer dress or your jeans.

Plain white tee

You just can't go wrong with a white tee at any time of year. Tuck yours into your jeans or a cool white skirt complete with a wrap front or ruffles. The trick with all white is to break up your profile a little so don’t be afraid to go bold.

White tailoring

A white suit jacket is a stock piece that won’t let you down. Use yours to jazz up your jeans, toughen a skirt or give a maxi dress a little more of an edge. Nothing beats a classic pantsuit so rock the matching white pants with a cool cami top and block heels for desk-to-dark flair.

Remember 10 years ago when white skinnies were the pinnacle of cool? Well, white jeans are back and this time round they’re way easier to wear. In fact, relaxed white denim is hotter than hot right now and we’re thanking the fashion gods for their graciousness…

Rocking white denim is easy – simply team your wide-leg jeans with a classic white tee, slip on a pair of luxe pool slides and grab that basket bag. Or if a denim jacket’s more your vibe, throw an off-white number over your sundress and complete the look with oversized gold-toned or tortoiseshell-style sunnies.

Relaxed silhouettes reign but so do ruffles and a rips so don’t be scared to invest in a skirt or pair of shorts with a little extra detailing for sunny afternoons at home and on your holidays – might we suggest a knotted white shirt and shorts for your next city break and a cute skirt with mules for that afternoon drinks date?

If you feel like taking the plunge and opting for double denim, you can’t really go wrong with all white. Team cool culottes with simple trainers and a cropped denim jacket and throw in a tan leather bag for a classic finish.
