Véronique Forge-Karibian Founder of the French platform for female entrepreneurs, Business O Feminin, lets us in on her secrets to a healthy work/life balance, her go-to brands and how to succeed as a woman in business...

Why did you create Business O Feminin?

I had the chance to work on a show about women called Women of Exception for several years in which I interviewed women with like Christine Lagarde and Simone Veil but also business minds like Mathilde Thomas of Caudalie and artists like Dee Bridgewater.

What fascinates me about all these women is their path in life, their thread and the entanglement of the circumstances that helped them find their way. Through Businessofeminin.com, I wanted to give all women the ability to fulfil their professional potential and develop their full personal potential.

How do you juggle your personal life and your career?

I am fortunate to have help with my two children who are still young. I also try to spare some time for myself – I lived in London for nine years and in that time I started playing a lot of sports, which I still love to do. In the mornings I have my rituals and begin the day by using the Calm app to meditate. It’s a great little app that helps teach a life-changing practice.

What are the pieces in your wardrobe that make you feel most confident?

I like to feel comfortable in my clothes and not be too overdressed. I'm pretty keen on suede jackets, especially from the brand Van Palma. I wear them with jeans by Closed or leather pants by Fête Impérial. I’m also a hat person and I love Estrée for these.

What essentials do you always carry with you?

I always carry a pouch that turns into an evening bag in my handbag and in terms of other essentials I really like Clio Goldbrenner's new chic and practical collection. As for beauty, I carry a survival kit comprised of Mademoiselle Saint Germain's eye cream with cucumber, Glossier's pink blush and my favourite, By Terry's rose balm for my lips.

Long days at the office can take its toll on your skin. Tell us about your skincare routine…

Always remove make up before bed, apply a mask twice a week and stay hydrated. This season I’ve been road testing a cream by Raw Material and a pomegranate serum from Wisdom Cares. I also do a deep skin cleanse every month to maintain a healthy glow.

Who inspires you?

I have a lot of admiration for Arianna Huffington, the founder of the Huffington Post, whom I had the chance to meet in London. She is extremely intelligent, cultured and visionary and the proof is in her new project, Thrive Global, a media platform geared towards personal development. She has drawn on her own experiences of burn out in order to help people take a step back and enjoy the multiple aspects of their lives.

What would you say is the secret recipe for becoming an accomplished businessperson?

Finding a balance between personal and professional life and always saving a little time for yourself. Before you start, meet other entrepreneurs to exchange experiences, ideas and insights and join existing communities, like the Business O Feminine Club. We organise monthly meetings with entrepreneurs, coaches and leaders to share knowledge and give women the tools they need to succeed.

What is your favourite motivational quote?

I have two… "They did not know it was impossible, so they did it" – Mark Twain. "Well behaved women rarely make history." – Eleonor Roosevelt.

In this exclusive interview our Founder Nathalie Gaveau catches up with Véronique Forge-Karibian, Founder of the French site for working women Business O Feminin, to talk work/life balance, fashion, focus and how to get into the back to school mindset for the season ahead...

V: What are your tips for maintaining your zen during the busy 'back-to-school' period?

N: The key is to organize well and take advantage of the summer holidays to sort out the essentials. Plan trips and important meetings, review plans for the last quarter and communicate your goals to the teams you manage. Suddenly, we'll find we have more time for sports and the spa, it's a virtuous circle.

V: Who's been inspiring you this season?

N: Jeff Bezos, he started out 15 years ago with a small online bookstore, was criticised for years by analysts and became a leader in cloud computing. Today Amazon is valued at $1000 billion. What audacity, what tenacity in his vision.

V: What quality do you admire most in women?

N: Adaptability. Business woman, mother, wife, girlfriend, sportswoman, coach, every woman is plural and manages multiple tasks in a day, sometimes to a staggering extent.

V: What's your daily routine like and how do you start your day?

N: I don't really have a routine with my travels between London and Paris but I cannot live without an Earl Grey tea followed by an espresso and kisses from my husband and children first thing in the morning. A poached egg with avocado toast always tempts me and then it's on to emails, dashboards and the day begins.

V: What are your workspace essentials?

N: I'm a bit of a minimalist so I like a white or transparent desk with just my apple Macbook Pro on it. If possible, I like an open space with no walls around me and an inspiring view. From time to time, I'll light a candle like the La Française Sympa.

V: Which books are by your bedside right now?

N: The Love Dictionary of Freedom by Mathieu Laine and a pile of documents. I usually have books on all kinds on business topics. I've recently been reading the 2018 Goldman Sachs Millennial Insights study.

V: Who are some of your favourite fashion designers?

N: Chloé by Natacha Ramsay Levi, Diane Ducasse and always Saint Laurent.

V: What about your 'can't live without' websites?

N: I'm probably more into apps than sites. I use Yoga Studio for my yoga routine, Lumo Lift to help with my posture, Paleo Leap for paleo recipes, Les Echos, Elle, Bloomberg and of course Whatsapp, Instagram, Uber and Deliveroo.

V: What's your motto or favourite quote?

N: “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.” You must have ambition and persevere on your journey.

The famous British Actress Helen Mirren admitted that she has been struggling with her confidence for a lifetime. It is quite shocking how a successful actress like Mirren could have doubt of herself! But Mirren showed us that she is just like us! The actress told that microblading changed her self esteemed in a recent interview. After seeing her friend try this beauty treatment, the actress thought, “at least when I wake up I will have my eyebrows done.” Small things can cause huge impacts and this is yet another proof. #microblading #helenmirren #beauty #treatment #celebrity #advice

Nanushka was born in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, more than a decade ago, but is finally getting under the spotlight. If you spend your days cruising on Instagram, you definitely saw the brand's design: maybe a dress, a coat... fashionistas love it! From Song of Style to NYC Bambi, without forgetting the French it-girl Caroline de Maigret, they all wear Nanushka.

It's hard not to fall for its amazing outerwear, their famous lilac wrap dress.

We had the chance to meet Sandra Sandor, the designer behind the brand, during Paris Fashion Week, for an exclusive interview, to chat about the story of the brand and what we should expect in the future.

Shopcade: What brought you to fashion ?

Sandra: Actually, it was a given way for me because my mother was a children's wear designer in the 70s prior to the fall of the Iron Curtain. Dressing was always a very important self-expression form for me. I wasn't sure that I wanted to become a designer until the age of 17. Then, I thought that I really want to try to study fashion design and it was very interesting because you know, in Hungary, there is no history in fashion and there aren't many fashion schools. I really wanted to study fashion somewhere where it was very relevant.

After studying in the London College of Fashion, I went back to Budapest were Nanushka began, back in 2006.

How do you define Nanushka's style?

S: We usually think of ourselves as a bridge between intuitive and functional design. The clothes that we will keep loving and will become our wardrobe staples are those in which we really feel comfortable in as well. So, we try to execute this also in the design from the choice of fabric. We try to make everything washable. Nothing gets very wrinkly. It's comfortable wear for every season and good for both seasons. Of course, we do have fur coats for winter, but it has a soft feel.

I don't think trends are ad-hoc things they reflect our surroundings and the people around us. Nanushka, from a design perspective is trying to be relevant for the era we live in.

Where do you draw inspiration from?

S: My main source of inspiration as a designer it to try to create harmony, while mixing very distant cultural references, like Western with Oriental or Far Eastern. Actually, these two have been permeating through our collections. Sometimes even for three seasons, we kind of have a theme that carries over and we maybe add an extra inspiration. As a designer, I don't want to jump in too quickly.

The next season is already coming, but I like to keep the inspiration flowing for longer. Mixing the Wild Western boots with Far Eastern culture has been going since Resort 18, carried over to our SS18. For Pre-Fall 18/19, we added 90s Berlin colors and silhouettes, as well as vegan leathers.

Also, as a general inspiration, the traveling state of mind really inspires me. When you travel, you're very receptive, very open and almost like a child state of mind, and comfort becomes essential.

How do you want women to feel when they wear your clothes?

S: I really want them to feel confident, easy, effortless.

Called the label to watch by fashionistas, how do you feel about social media ?

S: Social media really helped us grow. We kind of think of ourselves as a lifestyle brand. We try to make our social media platform a moodboard of our brand and also a source of inspiration. Influencers is our secret in a way. We never pay for partnerships, but we work with influencers who represent our brand values. I think it's important for a brand to give to the right people, no with the biggest followers, because their followers are similar to ours.

What's your favorite piece from the current collection ?

S: From the SS18, our tiger-inspired print made with watercolor painting, and digitally printed on fabric fabric is my favorite. We made a pair of long pants from it called Nevada pants, inspired by pyjama pants from Coco Chanel in the 30s or 40s. She was the first woman to wear pyjama pants as a daily wear I think.

What should we expect for the future collections ?

S: The values and clashing cultures as a source of inspiration will definitely remain, I think it's important to highlight where I come from. Hungary has always been an intersection of East and West. The German Empire had a big effect on us, as well as Turkish culture and the Parisian Belle Epoque.

At the turn of the century, travel was open for everyone. Hungarians and artists came to Paris to get some inspiration and change their values etc. So, when you come to Budapest, you'll find a Turkish bath on one side of the street, next to Brutalist buildings on the other side. So it's a mix of cultures.

But going back to how I imagine my future collections, I think we're going to develop, while our core brand values and sources of inspiration remain. And spice it up with the season's trends. A good balance.

If you had to pick only one piece you created, which one would it be?

S: Hard question! But I love outerwear and our brand is really known for that. So I would probably pick a coat, specifically a robe coat.

What are your do's and don'ts when it comes to fashion ?

S: I don't really believe in do's and don'ts. I think you can get away with anything if you put it in the right context.

What is the must-have of every outfit?

S: The right pair of shoes, they define the whole outfit in the end. But I could also say that a good pair of jeans is a must.

Happy Mother's Day! To celebrate the day, we recently caught up with new mummy and fashion blogger Vaida. She is the author of the blog Fashion Addicted and the Instagram account @fashionbyvaida, where she documents her adventures in fashion, beauty travelling and of course parenting. Read her interview below and find out the best Mother's Day gifts she suggests on her exclusive list below.

What compelled you to start your own fashion & lifestyle blog?

I started my fashion career as a model but it just wasn’t for me.  Despite that I still was into fashion very much. After constantly being approached by girls and asked where I bought one or another item I decided to create fashion blog and share all my outfit details there.

What do you enjoy most about the creative process?

Even it’s hard work I enjoy every bit of it. From creating an outfit to posting it on the blog/Instagram and all the bits in between: looking for beautiful spots to shoot, posing or creating a flatlay, taking pictures, editing them. And the most enjoyable thing is to get positive reactions from my readers.

What are the challenges and also the benefits of being a freelance content creator and influencer especially being a new mum?

I love being independent, I can work cosily on my sofa watching my baby playing around. I think that’s the best thing. However being a mum and freelancing has cons too. I am limited to attend various events and sometimes plans can be changed because of my babies needs.

What are your non-negotiables regarding your wellness routine?

Having a bath with lot’s of bubbles, candles and relaxing music on Sundays is my best wellness time.

How would you describe your personal style? Can you give us an example by styling your go-to outfit featuring your favourite brands?

In one word I would say it’s elegant. I usually choose classic pieces. Mango white suit with Gucci handbag and Zara heels.

What are your new mum lifesaver products that you can't live without?

Mama Mio products are wonderful for both mums to be and new mums.

You're always travelling. Which one of your recent destinations was the most memorable to you and why?

Probably the best memories are from Mauritius (we got married there) and Thailand. Everything is so different there, nature is mesmerising, people are relaxed and the food is super delicious.

What are you working on at the moment? Do you have any specific goals for this year?

I have Build a Bear project coming up. I am going with my boy to Build a Bear workshop to create Easter bunny. I am sure we will have a lot of fun. I have also few beauty and fashion projects coming up soon so keep your eyes peeled and follow my blog Fashion Addicted and Instagram account @fashionbyvaida

It seems as if since the beginning of time a magic fairy godmother awarded all French women with effortless style and elegance. From 60's Brigitte Bardot to Vanessa Paradis and Jeanne Damas there's no denying that Parisian chic is very specific yet unattainable. But what does that mean for the rest of us? We here at Shopcade have aimed to dissect the authentic French style and follow a few simple rules to nail it this Spring?

Beauty & Hair

The first rule of the School of French style is that there simply are no general rules. Developing your individual style is part of the process. This process never fails to involve mineral toning water, eye cream and a great SPF cream. A thorough beauty routine with quality products makes all the difference for French women as they wear minimal make up. "I only wear red lipstick everyday, "said Jeanne Damas in a recent interview for Man Repeller. French girls emphasize on taking care of their skin instead of covering it up with endless layers of make up. They wear little foundation, use hair spray for a sexy out of bed look and have a signature scent!

Show off your Pins

Baring your legs as much as possible like French style blogger Camille Charriére is another Parisian staple. Sport your mini summer dresses, vinyl red skirts, LBDs or uber chic culottes which are basically very cool and elegant ways to nail French chic.

Where Did You Get That Shirt?

All Parisian girls own a great white shirt in their wardrobe as it's ultimately versatile and oh so chic. You can literally pair it with anything that may hang in your wardrobe: from jean bell bottoms to a pencil skirt, a pair of denim shorts, with smart trousers at the office even worn loosely over your swimsuit at the beach. Go for a white crisp shirt fitted or oversized and try a Breton design - another French girl favourite.

Quality outerwear

Even though we're in July we can recognise a quality outerwear item in all seasons. From a boxy blazer, to an elongating raincoat or a simple rock n roll biker jacket the options are endless.. Take cues from French chic and really look which outerwear items will look best with your wardrobe essentials.

Accessories

When it comes to accessories they should always include a great hat, basket bag, earrings, and a quality watch. Less is definetely more so "Before you leave the house, take a look in the mirror, and take one thing off", as the mother of Parisian chic Coco Chanel used to say.

Style icons

Brigitte Bardot, Jane Birkin, Vanessa Paradis and Clemence Poesy are among many of the greats. For new sources of inspiration, follow Parisian blogger Camille Charrière, Jeanne Damas, Camille Rowe, Lily Rose Depp and Louise Follain on Instagram.

Scroll down below and see how you can nail French style this Spring!

Meghan Markle has been in the fashion watch for the past few months as expected. Whether it's her Burberry coat, her welly boots, beret hat or Strathbery bag it's no surprise those products will sell out as soon as she's snapped sporting them.

And while when it comes to her fashion sense her preference leans towards British designers, when it comes to make up she goes for Italian and Giorgio Armani to be exact. In an interview with Refinery 29, Lydia Sellers, Markle's make-up artist for two years before the Suits star moved to the UK revealed her affinity for Giorgio Armani's Luminous Silk Foundation.

In that interview, Sellers revealed that Markle was very "in the know" about beauty and she could instantly tell which products she liked and which she didn't. She was also a fan of a light foundation that would let her freckles shine through. One of the ways to achieve this is by blending it with your moisturiser for an even lighter effect that leaves the skin to breathe and glow.

This product is an all-round Bestseller with amazing reviews online! Get your perfect shade from our expert edit below and let your skin shine!#222222; background-color: transparent">

Even the biggest health nuts are prone to these bad habits, but as we enter 2018 it's time to live your best life yet! There are all of those tiny things we tend to do without even noticing that are seriously diminishing our quality of life. But we can take back control by simply acknowledging them. Here are a few examples of no no's:

1. Taking your smartphone everywhere: Even the bathroom because you get separation anxiety. We promise the world will not crumble if you don't have access to your phone for a few minutes.

2. Holding on to grudges. It never helps to hold it in. Excuse the pun. Release your frustration and move on. You have more important things to do.

3. You avoid confrontation. Just like the previous point, you have to express your issue to another person with regards to finding a solution. Problems don't go away by themselves unless we confront them head-on.

4. You postpone health checkups. Yes it's boring and you rather spend your free time doing much more exciting things than waiting in line for your GP but early detection can save you.

5. Binge-watching Friends on Netflix instead of meeting your actual friends.

6. You rely on social media for a self-esteem boost: Blogger Leandra Medine said it best in a recent interview. "Posting on Instagram constantly is a cry for help. I used to post more often when I felt bad about myself." There's no button for self -esteem it takes time and social media are irrelevant. Instead, re-connect with your close friends and family for the perfect self-care boost!
