When you imagine the impossibly luxe decor of your dream home, there are no doubt a few brands that spring to mind. We all have our favourites for luxurious linen, sleek furniture and unique artworks for that gallery wall but when you’re on a budget, it’s not always easy to get the look you’re dreaming of…

We all know that Groupon makes it easy to enjoy huge discounts on activities all over the world, but did you know that Groupon also offers next-level discounts on homewares, furniture and accessories? The perfect brand to shop with if your home improvement fund’s tight, Groupon is our go-to for making a space look high-end on a budget.

We looked to our panel of experts for four fail-safe tips to help you transform your space and put together a selection of our Editors’ favourite pieces direct from Groupon, perfect for elevating any room in your home.

Trick of the light

Keep things light and bright to create a greater sense of space. With pale greys and whites in the mix, you’ll have a fresh foundation to build on. Add mirrors to increase the depth of the room and reflect the natural light from your windows.

Colour theory

Choose a simple palette and stick to it. Like greens or pinks? Go for muted tones and mix them up with your simple white and grey walls and pieces of furniture. Next choose a luxe accent colour like copper or gold and pick out a few accessories in this tone.

Texture flex

The secret to making a room look more high end is to layer textures while retaining a minimalist look and feel. Do this with textural fabrics, woodgrain, rugs and cushions. You can also opt for tactile bed linens, one-off pieces in rich velvet and smooth metallic surfaces.

Add greenery

A well-placed plant can make a room and sometimes fresh flowers, a potted houseplant or a tropical tree can really elevate a space. Consider the colour palette in your room and opt for plants that will complement it or act as a neutral component in the room.

Louisa Drake is a force to be reckoned with. A fitness expert, business founder and a serious source of lifestyle inspo, Louisa recently launched LDM, a fitness and lifestyle brand built on the principles of her own inclusive training method and her no-nonsense approach to health and wellness.

We caught up with her to find out more about LDM, her motivations and of course, her style both in and out of the studio…

So how does your method work? How can LDM sessions influence your lifestyle?

At LDM we focus on body confidence and effective training techniques that educate clients on what their individual bodies need. My Method offers a host of fitness disciplines – cardio, conditioning, resistance and stretch – to keep the mind and body guessing and strengthen the muscles you use daily.

Our whole approach is to encourage confidence, so the Fitzrovia and Muswell Hill studios are a welcoming space where our instructors will calmly guide you through a class, leaving you feeling rejuvenated and well worked, but never worked up and stressed.

Who can take part in LDM classes?

LDM classes are accessible to anyone, regardless of their experience, fitness level, shape or size. We have two boutique studios in London, where you can access small group classes and private training daily. We also have LDM online video subscriptions and range of fitness equipment and apparel for taking part at home.

What inspired you to launch LDM – tell us about your journey...

After a professional dance career I started to transition into teaching dance and fitness. I was known for my unique style and had several disciplines under my belt but I realised there was something lacking from the workouts I was doing as a client at other gyms and studios.

I saw a gap for doing things my way and created LDM. After combining the best bits of popular disciples such as yoga, HIIT, Pilates to name just a few I created my signature total body workout that ticks all the boxes in one session – the Shape Changer, the perfect balance of cardio and conditioning material.

Next month we celebrate our first birthday at our Fitzrovia studio which offers a range of LDM classes that are constantly being fine tuned to suit our clients’ needs.

What does the word ‘wellness’ mean to you?

Wellness really sums up being at your optimal best physically and mentally. For me it’s about finding the right balance – time to focus on my changing needs, to honour my own rhythms and have the energy to achieve everything I need.

What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning?

My clients. Most mornings I’m either up early teaching group classes or I’m with a private client. The occasion I have a morning free, I’ll top up on sleep or schedule some time for myself on the mat.

How important do you think physical health is to how happy and confident we feel?

Massively important. It should be the main reason you choose to work out and aesthetics are the bonus. The natural high we get from exercise is what keeps you committed.

What about fashion and style – can what we wear make us happy?

Absolutely, wearing something that helps you feel happy will be the reason your posture improves which will then be part of the reason your confidence improves and you carry yourself differently. You can express yourself through fashion and your own unique take on it.

What are your feel-good outfits for work, the weekend and going out?

I spend a lot of time in activewear and when I'm working out and training clients it’s all about supportive, feel-good fabrics. I select a sweat-wicking product that’s going to work hard for me when I’m back to back and versatile items that mean after a quick change I’m ready to go from studio to meeting.

When I’m off-duty it’s a mix of denim, fun prints, slogan tees and a vintage feel is always present in my style. For going out I add some standout accessories, switch a trainer for shoe and opt for a dress or cool jumpsuit.

What about your favourite brands?

Activewear brands such as Sweaty Betty, Lululemon, Lucas Hugh, Nike and Adidas keep me supported and stylish. For tees and sweaters I like British brand Double Trouble Gang – we collaborated on some limited edition LDM sweaters & hoodies. I also love brands such as Etre Cecile and Sezane for an injection of fun prints and slogan pieces.

Free People, Reformation, ADAY, Faithfull the brand, Ganni and the Vampire’s Wife are labels I gravitate towards. I have some great jackets from Zoe Karssen, Whistles and Acne and my accessories are a mix of high street, vintage and investment pieces from Hill and Friends, Sezane, Laura Lee and Missoma.

I’m often in trainers by Adidas, Nike and APL and I’m currently loving the Stella McCartney x Adidas Parley shoes made from recycled ocean plastics – they work for all cardio based workouts. Veja make eco-friendly Parisian cool trainers that I like for off-duty and I also like Russell & Bromley, Birkenstock, Soludos, Hobbs and Miu Miu.

What’s next for you and for LDM?

Plans are underway to open a bigger standalone LDM studio in London where clients can still benefit from small boutique group fitness and private training with more space and amenities. We have some exciting opportunities in the pipeline and I’m working hard to build up our online LDM video offerings, so we are accessible not just in London but anywhere and at anytime. Watch this space…

The Danish word hygge (pronounced ‘hue-guh’, FYI) is used to describe a feeling of coziness – so, what better time than the start of fall to bring the concept into your home?

The most important thing is making your apartment feel comfortable, so start by adding plenty of blankets and cushions to your living space. Look for super soft cashmere and wool pieces to snuggle up with when it’s cold outside.

No cozy night in is complete without a scented candle – it will create the perfect atmosphere and fill the room with your favorite fall scents. Try warm, woody and leathery fragrances like Byredo’s ‘Tree House’ and Diptyque’s ‘Ambre’.

Having friends over for dinner? Make the dining area feel more snug with fuzzy blankets and sheepskin rugs draped over the chairs, and serve hot drinks in mismatched handcrafted cups.

Don’t neglect your balcony once the temperature drops – create an intimate outdoor space with hanging firefly lights, oversized scatter cushions and bean bags, and wrap up warm with chunky cable-knit throws and faux-fur slippers.

Want to try the Scandi look this season? Transition into fall with our hygge home picks in the edit below…

Self care is cropping up in conversation a lot recently, and while there may be much more to it than pampering yourself, sometimes it’s important to take some much-needed time out to do whatever makes you feel good.

With the start of #selfimprovementmonth upon us, there’s no better time to treat yourself – whether that’s taking a long bath with luxurious products, burning your favorite scented candle or buying something you really want but (probably) don’t need.

If you consider sleep a luxury and really value your eight hours a night, a pair of new pajamas and an eye mask will do wonders. Look for natural cotton and linen fabrics or lightweight silk blends and you’ll sleep better in no time.

Buying new workout clothes and hitting the gym may be your favorite feel-good activity, but if relaxing at home is more your thing, make sure you surround yourself with things you love – that could be new bed sheets, fluffy cushions or anti-stress scented candles.

From beauty products and stationery to homeware and accessories, browse our pick of the best self care essentials...

It’s official: the colour of autumn 2018 is undisputedly orange. Whether you rock a neon shade or a rich vintage-inspired hue, orange is the cheerful champion of our cool-weather line-ups…

Successfully wearing the colour is, however, easier said than done. It’s a bold shade and one that’s best sported with an all-or-nothing approach. We looked to our editors for a few tips on how to nail the autumnal trend sweeping Instagram.

Oversized

A statement colour calls for a statement silhouette so go big or go home with this one, literally. Think oversized duster coats and puffer styles, flared or wide-leg trousers and boxy shirts and tees. A maxi dress or skirt is always a winner too.

Utilitarian

The sporty, utility-inspired trend is big for AW18 so think less ‘70s corduroy and more futuristic crepe and lamé. Try sporting simple culottes with a cropped metallic jacket or opt for a simple military-inspired look with a button-down shirt and straight-leg trousers in bright orange tones.

Androgynous

Gender fluidity is back and here to stay this season. Rock your orange pieces in simple silhouettes and cool, understated layers. Give sports-luxe a go with an orange varsity jacket, trending camouflage prints and matching chunky-soled sneakers.

Colour blocked

Brave enough to try head-to-toe orange? Be sure to stay consistent with your choice of shade. Whether you opt for a pop-bright tone or a pale peachy orange, match your ensemble exactly to nail this season’s hottest colour trend.

Maximalism is set to be big this autumn and whether you’re revamping your wardrobe, your accessories line-up or your home, the eclectic trend is here to stay.

Now when it comes to interior design nailing the maximalist trend can be tricky and there are a few rules to follow if you want to get it right. Basically, it all comes down to clashing prints…

Power of three

When you’re clashing prints to create an eclectic, maximalist feel in your space, be sure to pick out no more than three strong prints. Whether you use these sparingly or cover an entire wall, be sure to limit your choice to two or three designs to keep things looking chic and considered rather than messy and out of control.

Colour code

Picking out prints from the same colour family – like neutrals, pinks or monochrome – can really help to bring a space to life and character while still sticking to your chosen theme. Try an autumnal palette for the new season or channel 2018’s punk-inspired vibes with clashing animal prints.

Accent and accessorise

Rather than adorning every surface in your home with print, carefully select smaller statement print pieces to make the most of them. Opting for accent pieces and cool accessories will mean you can not only mix and match but this also gives you the option to tone your maximalist interior up or down depending on your mood.

If you were wondering why you’ve spotted fewer marble surfaces on your feed it’s because there’s a fresh interiors trend taking over Instagram and Pinterest right now…

Terrazzo, which takes its name from the Latin word ‘Terra’, meaning ground, is nothing new – it was created in the 16th century Italy as a way to reuse stone offcuts, and it’s characterized by its multicolored fragments. But thanks to its hard-wearing and sustainable qualities (and unlimited colour and material options), it’s making a major comeback.

Terrazzo is no longer just for floors either – the playful patterned surface is now trending across everything from homeware to accessories. Want to work it into your apartment this fall? There are plenty of ways to do it...

For tiny Mediterranean touches that will make a difference, try adding Terrazzo pots to your bedroom or bathroom, or place a modern speckled candle by the likes of Tom Dixon on your bedside table. We also love speckled storage – perfect for tackling clutter.

If you want to work the trend into your living room, try a chic terrazzo-print bench or a comfy patterned bean bag. Or, if you’re ready for a full makeover, decorate the room with terrazzo wallpaper and opt for traditional stone countertops.

Goodbye sunshine yellow, farewell millennial pink – AW18 is all about muted earthy tones. Things are about to look a little softer with muted hues set to be the biggest interiors trend to drop for the new season…

We’re certainly not mad about the onset of warm peach colours and autumnal burnt oranges dominating our cosy homes just before the weather turns.

The only problem is, these sorts of colours do run the risk of looking a little dull if not styled properly. But don’t fret because we have a few tips to help you nail the trend with little to no effort required.

Firstly, always clash your colours and textures. This will help to showcase the subtle beauty of the tones you’ve chosen.

Opt for larger pieces like rugs and soft furnishings such as your sofa or armchair in neutral putty and string tones and jazz things up with contrasting cushions and throws.

Use accent tones like metallics, greys, off whites and yellows to add even more interest. Accessories are a great way to do this so think carefully about artworks, coffee table books and unique objects to add to the mix.

Finally, perfect the warm earthy glow with salt lamps, candles and yellow bulbs and create a space that’s equal parts cosy and chic for the season ahead.

Try the trend for yourself with a few exclusive pieces from our earth tone edit below…

If you dream of remodelling your bathroom but don’t have much space to work with, fear not. A lack of room shouldn’t mess with your interiors goals and we have it on good authority that revamping a small bathroom is easier than you might think…

We looked to our panel of interiors experts for a handful of space saving tips and tricks to make a cramped bathroom look more luxe.

Firstly, do away with your small mirror and invest in a larger one. Mirrors are great for creating the illusion of a bigger brighter space with more depth. Consider leaning a full-length piece against a wall or opting for a large round style.

Houseplants in a bathroom are perfect for encouraging airflow. Alternatively, you can choose to dot a few faux varieties around your space to create a sense of airiness and light.

Clever storage, floating shelves and pieces like slim stools and bath boards will help to stash all your essentials. Consider stacking pieces, furniture that doubles up as storage, like ottomans, stools and sideboards and have fun with the feng shui in the room.

Make your essentials look like part of the décor – invest in cool boxes and vanity cases and make your toothbrush holder, towel storage and even your drinking glasses look chic with luxe yet affordable options.

Finally, avoid clutter and instead pick out just a few strong accessories. A minimalist candle or vase on its own will brighten a space, add interest and keep things contained.

Sure summer is great but if you’re already looking forward to those cosy fall vibes, we’ve got good news for you. Peachy, orange tones are already huge this year and they’re the perfect way to help your home transition from sunny weather into the cooler months…

Filling your home with terracotta, burnt orange and pale sorbet tones is an ideal way to channel some of that fall cosiness while still retaining the warmth and light that summer has to offer. Plus, orange is a mood-boosting color so you can wave those back-to-school blues goodbye.

Rather than opting for a fresh coat of paint for every season – let’s be honest, who has time for that – the best way to infuse your space with a little orange energy is to invest in a few items to brighten the space.

Think kitchen accessories for a ‘70s inspired look, and soft tonal linens for laid-back boho vibes. Accessories like candles and artworks are a great way to make a space seem fuller and cosier, while statement pieces like oversized cushions and couches inject a much bolder pop of color – great if you have the space.

Want to try the look for yourself? Transition from summer to fall with our favourite orange pieces in the edit below…
