Backstage at New York Fashion Week, amongst the clicking of heels, swirls of hairspray and flicks of mascara, hairstylist Anthony Turner said 'the blow-dry is back'. It's time to turn of the hair straighteners and give the tongs a miss too. The only styling tool you need this season is your hairdryer. Sleek, glossy hair is where it's at. I am loving this look. A blow-dry always manages to look glam even if it's a done yourself. I've recently started to get more into haircare and my top two products for keeping it healthy are coconut oil and a heat protection spray. To get that perfect at home blow-dry head over to YouTube to find your ideal style, there is a tutorial for everyone. Image: Rex Features

If no amount of hair masks, leave-in conditioners or DIY-egg-treatments are working to revive your dry, damaged and brittle hair, it might be time to reassess how you style and care for your hair before accepting you'll look like a one-hit glam rocker.

Try changing up these six things that you might be doing wrong:

1. Heat styling too often - Over-styling on high heat can quickly damage your hair. Wind it down to low or medium-low heat and always use heat protectants.

2. Using an old hair dryer - Using an old hair dryer or not cleaning out the air vents can clog up your hair dryer, making it work less effectively, and making you use more heat to achieve your hair style.

3. Not using UV protectant - Don’t forget your hair when it comes to sun protection - look for hair products with UV protection built in or find a hair sunscreen.

4. Using heat for every style - Give your hair a rest from heat by using heatless options to create your desired hair style - leaving your hair in braids overnight creates beautiful curls and waves.

5. Using the wrong products - Harsh chemicals such as alcohol or sulfates can strip your hair of its natural moisture. Instead, go for sulfate-free formulas and use coconut or jojoba oil products.

6. You don’t change it up - Wearing your hair in the same way every day can cause your hair strands to weaken, particularly at your parting or where your hair is most stretched. Switch it up to help keep your hair strong.

No-one enjoys the sensation of a full head of grease but having said that, who has the time or energy to wash their hair like, ALL THE TIME?

Shampooing your hair too frequently causes scalp irritation, dryness, and split ends. So how does one keep their hair in good health without overwashing while beating the grease process at the same time? Read on for discovering the secrets to prolonging clean hair!

- Initially, leaving your hair down so the world can enjoy the splendour of your luscious locks is the right way to go. Depending on how fast your hair gets greasy, on Day 2 it may or may not be worth putting your hair up in a ponytail.

- Try to hold off using dry shampoo for as long as you can since prolonged use or using dry shampoo several times a week can cause hair loss. Scary right? LA based dermatologist Sonia Batra tells The Atlantic, "[Dry shampoo] deposits substances to coat the follicle that can build up. The resulting inflammation can weaken the follicles and increase shredding. These products can also cause hair follicles to stick together, so that a hair that would normally shed during brushing may take two or three strands along with it."

- Scroll through our gallery above to see what hairstyles celebs such as Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Rihanna, and Bella Hadid rock on and off the red carpet that are great for hiding a greasy scalp!

- As the weeks go by and you reduce the number of times you wash your hair per week, you'll quickly see a difference how your hair feels, looks, and stays clean! Be strong - hang in there!

As we bid adieu to the spring/summer weather, we are also bidding adieu to the natural humidity in the air. This process can leave your hair dry and prone to a lot of damage, and that's not cute on anyone!

So for the upcoming cooler weather, we have compiled a fool-proof guide on how to keep your hair luscious and damage free.

1) Oil your hair regularly:
Whether you are prone to a greasy scalp or are a resident dry-scalp kind of girl, hair oil is your friend. The winter months can strip your scalp of its natural oils, and so using a hair oil will allow you to give your hair some extra nutrition. Not only this, but regular oiling patterns will gradually reduce hairfall as well as make your hair stronger as well!

2) Use a leave-in conditioner:
Most of us go for a classic wash-off shampoo and conditioner routine, which can be a little harsh in colder weather. To bring back some moisture into your hair, use a light leave-in conditioner instead. You will instantly find your hair smoother and more manageable!

3) The right temperature matters:
When it's colder out, it is normal to want to shower in piping hot water to feel less chilly. However, try and wash your hair only with lukewarm water, not hot water, as the latter will further dry out your scalp. Apply a leave-in conditioner to keep hair smooth.

4) Tame the frizz:
Winter often times causes static in the air, which we often enhance with the scarves and coverups we tend to pull over our heads. This can cause your hair to get frizzy, but you can easily tame it! When combing your hair, use a vented hair brush that has a combination of plastic and boar bristles.

Who doesn't love big hair?! We don't know about you, but we're all about that volume.

But we know that the monsoon and heat can get you down, so here are our best tips to get your hair fluffy and gorgeous!

Make sure it's clean
This one's a no-brainer—oily hair will always look weighed down and limp. Use a volumising shampoo and conditoner This is the first step in your haircare routine towards getting a fluffy mane!

Use a sea salt texturising spray
These sprays are a great way to add texture and volume to freshly washed hair. Simply spritz it into your damp hair, and style as usual.

Day 3 hair? Use baby powder or dry shampoo
Sometimes (more than just "sometimes", actually...we know how it is!), you're on day 3 after having washed your hair, which means your hair probably doesn't want to cooperate when you want to get it voluminous. Use dry shampoo or baby powder to soak up those extra oils as a temporary fix. Don't use too much product While there are amazing products out there (like the ones we mentioned above) that can help you get a voluminous mane, the key is to not use too much. Otherwise, your efforts will prove counterproductive, as the excess product will weight your hair down.

Back-comb/tease your hair
Simply take locks of hair, and comb them backwards with a fine-toothed comb. Instant volume!
