Kate Moss turned 44 today, and for more than 20 years she has been infusing the fashion industry with her unique sense of grunge and boho style, her edge and her overall completely effortlessly elegant aesthetic. The truth is that she has had an excellent training of top designers, stylists and fellow models that have worked with her. So she has developed her unique formula of Kate Moss style that relies on a few simple style rules. Shopcade investigates.

1. Go for an edgy denim

We 've always associated denim with Kate Moss but she's always gone for the denim underdog - the styles that weren't on trend at the time. From low-cut skinny jeans to wide -legged jeans and animal print she's worn all kind of styles and it has always been ahead of their time. Kudos!

2. Quality

Moss is not a fan of the high street. Even though she has launched many successful fashion lines with Topshop she always goes for quality. One of her favourite past times is discovering second-hand clothing from Portobello market.

3. Timeless Prints

You could say that Moss is a print queen. She loves her leopard print, polka dots and a few 70s funky patterns. But she always goes for the ones with classic appeal. She would never go too crazy which explains her effortless yet edgy look.

4. Jewellery

When she wants to draw attention from the clothes she turns to jewellery and diamonds to be exact. From 19th-century drop earrings to sapphire and ruby bangles she knows how to make any dab outfit spark.

Fashion can’t get enough of throwing back to the 70s! Well now one of the biggest trend is glam rock. Clashing the disco of the 70s and the punk rock of the 80s, fashion is taking us on a time travel. Who says you can’t wear sparkle and sequin with grunge boots? Or sequins with ripped jeans and sneakers? Well it’s the time we’ve all been waiting for! You don’t need to hide the glamour behind your closets, now you can take them on to streets because street style is embracing glam rock! #glam #rock #glamrock #streetstyle #seventies #eighties #throwback #trend #style

Maybe your mother initially warned you against them, but now here you are lusting over a pair of white vinyl boots that you know well will get dirty before you get a chance to walk across the street. Still you want to purchase them. Maybe because you've been watching them as one of Lisa's favourite boot trend in "Younger" or as part of most editorial campaigns, or maybe just because at heart you're a combat boot girl that wants to relive the Marc Jacobs/ Kate Moss/ Nirvana grunge era. Luckily the choices are endless.

You can go for a typical pair of Mango white ankle boots for a classic look that will elevate any outfit. These boots are amazing to wear with long frilly dresses, or a pair of jeans or smoking trousers.

If on the other hand you'd like to go for an edgier look opt for white Dr. Marten boots with dresses or tights.

Lastly don't underestimate the power of a great pair of white slingback kitten heel shoes for those days where you want to amp up your look without overdoing it.

I am loving this makeup look from blogger @beautsoup on Twitter! The warm colour palette really works well on her skin tone, making her eyes pop! The lip colour matches the eye look perfectly too. Her messy hair style complete with a thick denim choker really add a touch of 90’s inspired grunge to the look! #beautsoup #abhcosmetics #limecrime #hudabeauty #norvina

You've seen them on Kaia Gerber, the Hadid sisters can't get enough. We're talking about the ultimate footwear comeback staple from the 90's, the grunge era of combat boots and tea dresses. Even before the Chicago grunge era of Nirvana and Courtney Love combat boots such as Dr. Martens, were causing head waves across the country with the punk rock of movement in all its vinyl, PVC and fishnet glory.

For 2017, the vibe is quite muted and nuanced. Although we may see lots of touches from the previously mentioned punk trends, the styling now has an amazing way of looking elegant and put together though maintaining that tough, rocker edge. Combat boots are also surprisingly complimentary to all shapes and sizes.

Firstly they come with that tiny rubber heel that gives a few cheeky inches to a petite figure. Also, it has a very clever slimming effect. The chunkiness of the boot actually juxtaposes to the calf and elongates the leg as a result. Nothing wrong with that!

Go for a full 90's resurgence look by sporting your combat boots with a frilly tea dress, minimal make-up and a knit cardigan.

Opt for an 80's look by adding a LBD and fishnets. For an up-to-date take on the trend, mix a slip dress under an oversized knit and finish the look with a pair of white Dr. Martens.

This season the leopard print becomes more of a day-to-day piece of clothing than a statement piece necessarily. The days of wearing it with scepticism and frugality are almost long gone. This time it's more about wearing it as a black shirt, goes with any pattern any colour or attitude your imagination can fathom.

Although there was a misconception that a leopard overload can become tacky the truth is only the quality of the leopard print item in question can determine the elegance of the outfit. Because it had been associated with Christian Dior in the 50's to true rockstar glam in the 60's onwards with David Bowie and Debby Harry in the 80's making it almost a piece of their trademark look. Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain gave it a much needed grunge boost in the 90's.

Nowadays, Leandra Medine of ManRepeller did an impressive double (but not identical) leopard print number, matching it with red strappy heels. Olivia Palermo clashes patterns of leopard print and check while Alexa Chung goes for an animal print faux fur over short party dresses. Street style during this fashion month has also been flocked with many variations of leopard print: from pochettes, to mules, jackets, shirts or leggings the animal print has proved itself as one of the most fun ways to be fashionable this season!
