Last Wednesday, Gucci announced that from the SS18 collection onwards, will cease using mink, fox, Karakul lamp, rabbit and raccoon, as part of its new "Culture of Purpose" sustainability plan. The luxury brand also announced that it will join the Fur Free Alliance, eliminating animal fur and will contribute one million euros as a founding partner of UNICEF's Girls' Empowerment Initiative.

This news come after a number of luxury retailers have also gone down the sustainability path such as Hugo Boss, to Armani and YOOX Net-A-Porter. Although for Gucci in particular who was very much associated with old-luxury status items including fur it's quite a departure.
Even though real fur is on the out, faux fur coats, accessories, bags and fur embellishments are trending more than ever.

Despite cold days and darker nights ahead, we can’t wait to snuggle up in our favourite knits to carry us right through the winter season! The luxurious material has the unique capability to make us feel both comfy and elegant. It's probably the reason why we see it over and over again in multiple variations every fall season on the catwalk.

We're absolutely crushing over the new collection of luxe knits at MissPap! From very on-trend colours like tomato red and mustard yellow, to different silhouettes like off-the-shoulder, cropped, oversized, and oh-so-chic

HOW TO WEAR KNITS THIS SEASON

Indulge in a hygge knit, and pair it with a vinyl black skirt, ankle boots, and a chain cross-body bag on a chilly night out.

Go for an off-the-shoulder striped number and wear it with your favourite pair of jeans, thigh-high boots, and a mini backpack for after-work drinks.

Opt for an uber cool slouchy look by donning the knit with a tracksuit and mules. That very distinctive late 90s look will give you many points of utter street and urban flair.

Snuggle up to a floor-length knit cardigan over your favourite tea dress, paired with tights and flat booties. This very sleek and coddled look will be your ultimate go-to outfit for Sunday brunch with the girls.

Use the code CHILL15 and get 15% off all knitwear from MissPap!

London Fashion Week is here and soon our eyes will be on the Parisian sidewalks. For this week, the fashion pack made a splash on the catwalk the front row and most importantly the streets were the conversation is quite different but equally sartorially sumptuous.

From oversized slogan tees to designer trainers the streets of London have never failed to provide us with ample material for style inspiration for the season ahead. This time around it was no different. We got a glimpse of anything and everything from heel height, to hairstyle trends, bag trends (yes we're seeing the GAIA ARK bag everywhere, and styling concepts such as teaming slogan tees and hoodies with vinyl or tulle skirts.

The vibrant colors were also making a splash in the streets of London as they did in NYC: orange, shocking pink, marigold, tomato red and mustard yellow. But we also spotted girls in tulle dresses and detailing or embellishments by Molly Goddard and Simone Rocha. There was another trend for bold, completely out there and blatant red. Yes, a full-on head-to-toe red outfit is going strong this season.

Finally, the check blazer and working girl outfit circa late 80's complete with geek cheek glasses and chandelier earrings were all the rage. And since we're talking about accessories, JW Anderson cross-body bags, Dior kitten heels, and Parisian berets were the best details on the street.

According to Vogue: “Denmark is like the Italy of Scandinavia”, its the new Milan and capital of Scandi chic. With labels such as Ganni, Stine Goya, By Malene Birger and Saks Potts rising up in the fashion scene, the Scandinavian brands are taking the catwalk by storm.

On the streets, the Copenhagen girl is the new Parisian: a girl that exudes effortless and laid-back style. She cycles to work, so practicality is key, wearing beautiful long dresses with flats or ankle boots. These girls can be seen in the streets of Copenhagen, photographed by renowned street style photographers. Among them are famous bloggers Pernille Teisbaeck and Funda Christophersen.

To get the Copenhagen-chic look, pair some luxury items with more laid-back t-shirts or jeans to dress them down. Do wear long leave printed maxi dresses, denim jackets, checks, midi wrap dresses and sling-back shoes. There is an element of fun in the Copenhagen style, with lots of print and colour so don’t take it too seriously, just throw on what you enjoy and feel comfortable!

It seems as if since the beginning of time a magic fairy godmother awarded all French women with effortless style and elegance. From 60's Brigitte Bardot to Vanessa Paradis and Jeanne Damas there's no denying that Parisian chic is very specific yet unattainable. But what does that mean for the rest of us? We here at Shopcade have aimed to dissect the authentic French style and follow a few simple rules to nail it this summer.

Beauty & Hair

The first rule of the School of French style is that there simply are no general rules. Developing your individual style is part of the process. This process never fails to involve mineral toning water, eye cream and a great SPF cream. A thorough beauty routine with quality products makes all the difference for French women as they wear minimal make up. "I only wear red lipstick everyday, "said Jeanne Damas in a recent interview for Man Repeller. French girls emphasize on taking care of their skin instead of covering it up with endless layers of make up. They wear little foundation, use hair spray for a sexy out of bed look and have a signature scent!

Show off your Pins

Baring your legs as much as possible like French style blogger Camille CharriĂ©re is another Parisian staple. Sport your mini summer dresses, vinyl red skirts, LBDs or uber chic culottes which are basically very cool and elegant ways to nail French chic.

Where Did You Get That Shirt?

All Parisian girls own a great white shirt in their wardrobe as it's ultimately versatile and oh so chic. You can literally pair it with anything that may hang in your wardrobe: from jean bell bottoms to a pencil skirt, a pair of denim shorts, with smart trousers at the office even worn loosely over your swimsuit at the beach. Go for a white crisp shirt fitted or oversized and try a Breton design - another French girl favourite.

Quality outerwear

Even though we're in July we can recognise a quality outerwear item in all seasons. From a boxy blazer, to an elongating raincoat or a simple rock n roll biker jacket the options are endless.. Take cues from French chic and really look which outerwear items will look best with your wardrobe essentials.

Comfy flats

Especially for daytime, comfort is key to the laissez-faire nonchalant Parisian look. So invest in ballet flats, chic sandals, espadrilles and white trainers to elevate your everyday look. They can really romanticise an outfit instantly.

Accessories

When it comes to accessories they should always include a great hat, basket bag, earrings, and a quality watch. Less is definetely more so "Before you leave the house, take a look in the mirror, and take one thing off", as the mother of Parisian chic Coco Chanel used to say.

Style icons

Brigitte Bardot, Jane Birkin, Vanessa Paradis and Clemence Poesy are among many of the greats. For new sources of inspiration, follow Parisian blogger Camille CharriĂšre, Jeanne Damas, Camille Rowe, Lily Rose Depp and Louise Follain on Instagram.

Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid joined the London Pride parade this weekend in Oxford Circus celebrating the LGBT community.

The girls marched amongst thousands of Londoners who gathered to celebrate 50 years since homosexuality was legalised in the UK.

The famous models and pals held hands and laughed as they sported rainbow cowboy hats, cropped tops and low rise jeans.

Kendall went for an all-white showstopper which included a bandeau top and white boyfriend jeans topped with 90s inspired sunnies and white tennis shoes. As for accessories, she kept it chic with a plethora of dainty gold necklaces in different shades.

While Bella opted for an head-to-toe blue look complete with distressed jeans and grungy black Doc Martens boots.

French girls are the epitome of chic. They are well put together, have great style and a nonchalant cool attitude. No wonder Parisian model Jeanne Damas and blogger Camille CharriĂšre have over half a million Instagram followers! Dressing like these gorgeous creatures may look effortless, but its not easy for us Brits. Looking like you’ve just walked out the Chanel show comes naturally to these girls, but for the rest of us, it requires some education. Luckily, we’ve got some tips, and some style essentials that will transform you from Brit cool to Parisian Chic, in just a few clicks!

Beauty routine: French girls are very natural, the focus is on skincare and just enough makeup to highlight your features without over doing it. Jeanne Damas, in an interview for Man Repeller said “ I only wear red lipstick everyday, nothing else.” She also uses Nuxe moisturiser and Leonor Greyl Shampoo. French girls work on their base resulting in amazing skin, hair and body. Using a cleansing milk is great for getting rid of impurities in the skin, and a healthy diet and moderate exercise is key to keeping in shape. They wear little foundation, have a signature haircut and a sexy scent for that extra je ne sais quoi!

What to wear: Its all about dressing for both day and night. Do wear a fancy dress in the daytime, but downplay it with some casual espadrilles. Wear jeans and simple t-shirt and add some spice with statement earrings.  Wrap dresses, mini skirts, blazers, breton stripes and florals are key to dressing a la française.

Style icons: Brigitte Bardot, Jane Birkin, Vanessa Paradis and Clemence Poesy are among many of the greats. For new sources of inspiration, follow Parisian blogger Camille CharriĂšre, Jeanne Damas, Camille Rowe, Lily Rose Depp and Louise Follain on Instagram.

The bottom line: Be feminine and comfortable. Sounds easy right?
