2018  is all about mood-boosting fashion. From glam beauty to sparkly sheer dresses, metallic boots and silver or gold details the moto is life-celebratory. That joie de vivre is especially captured in the recent dress trends for 2018, that even though they are emerging during the cold, dreary winter months there's absolutely nothing dreary about them. So if you're on the lookout for uplifting mood-enhancing frocks you came to the right ... season. Try them with tights, ankle boots, flats or thigh-high creations. Sport them with minimalist accessories or extravagant numbers like feather earrings or studded boots. Just have a look below to find out how you can sport the new dress trends this season without fail!

BRIGHT HUES

The trend for bright bold colours emerged a few seasons ago with the 70s resurgence. But lately, the colour palette of the seventies ranging from khakis, brows but also bright shades like ultraviolet, aqua blue and mustard yellow has focused on the latter. Take your pick of moss greens, reds, blues, orange, and purple. Try them with neutral accessories and don't hesitate to combine them, for example, take Jeanette Madsen's cue for a green and orange combo.

POLKA DOTS

The trend for polka dots blew up last year with most influencers posting a shot of them in a patterned number. This year the trend has incorporated a puffer sleeve to the mix such as over at Isabel Marant and Rejina Pyo. Try them with a pointy pair of white ankle boots and some gold accessories for that elusive 2018 twist.

WINTER FLORALS

What's the difference between Spring and Winter florals you ask? It's all about the fabric. Opt for a rich fabric like velvet, or corduroy and opt for patterns that carry a vintage vibe. They feature wallpaper patterns, ruffled shoulders high necklines. In other words, Victorian chic at it's best.

This time of the year is perfect for all of those endless afternoons of hibernating. This is a difficult task if our homes are messy or don't reflect our personal taste. After you read our post on the Mari Kondo way of tidying up, think about purchasing a few items to revamp your space! Sure we might live in small flats but aesthetic shouldn't be influenced by that. Take the fashion influencers for example, as they pose for their individual ootds, they give us glimpses of a home decor that perfectly defines their style. So how can you quickly elevate your flat you ask without breaking the bank?

Here are a few items you'll need:

The Rug
Opt for a cool snuggle-friendly rug you can throw to the floor. It will give your room a sense of your style and much-needed character. Plus it's the perfect alternative to a carpet that can quickly get dirty and weary.

A Marble Table
Oh yes, that fabulous material has been the perfect sidekick to any influencer flat lay shot that appeared in 2017. Apart from your Insta snapshots though, the table is practical and looks amazing IRL.

The Throw
Remember when you used to hang paintings and posters on the wall? How drab. Go for a colourful throw instead for an artsy taste of hygge to your space.

Flower Power
Scratch that posters will do. True magic lies in fresh flowers. Just ask Pandora Sykes and Leandra Medine.

Sheets
Go for a blush pink or violet shade to bring femininity and relaxation to your bedroom.

The Full Mirror
Well, how would you take those morning ootd's without that mirror? Opt for the squiggle one for that extra character.

Teaming a button down shirt and jeans together is a great example of sartorial yin and yang. The formality of the work-appropriate shirt is effortlessly toned down by the relaxed comfort of the denim to create a chic look that’s timeless and the epitome of 'smart casual'. This has all coincided rather nicely with the general loosening of work dress-codes and even though men have been rocking this classic combo for years, women have much more leeway to put their own twist on it.

Besides the standard button downs, statement shirting is an enduring trend and each season brings bold new plays with proportion, exciting embellishments and deconstructed styles. And there are plenty of denim addicts among us so it’s not that uncommon to own a range of washes, fits and cuts that are regularly updated. The devil’s in the details and how you tuck the shirt is much more important that you’d think when putting your own stamp on this outfit. There’s all in, just one side, front in but out at the back and leaving it all out just for starters which affects the silhouette; and slipping on some heels/flats/sneakers can really dress it up or down. A smattering of jewellery is optional.

Everything that brings us comfort is coupled to our day to day and, when we talk about comfy fashion, it is even more pleasant, especially if we talk about footwear. Remember the flats shoes. They were a boom for their comfort and versatility to become a footwear that could fit both the casual and the executive and now the latest fad of fashion proposes a similar style, but quite peculiar: the slippers.Have a look at our gallery for more inspiration! So pointy. So sexy! ‘Buy them immediately’ was our instant reaction to the vampy mule. And by ‘vampy’, we mean the sensibly heeled mules’ latest makeover- a V-shaped slit in the vamp, mirroring the sharp toe. Some of them even allow a tantalising flash of toe cleavage. They are streetstyle stars turned designers Giorgia Tordini and Gilda Ambrosio’s signature shoe don’t you know, for their contemporary party-perfect Italian brand Attico. Available in a range of materials and finishes, these trendsetters style them with a rainbow of chic ankle buckles.

Vampy mules aren’t completely new, though, because Balenciaga’s knife point satin mules- bowed and in Quality Street wrapper shades- were the streetstyle hit of the summer, with editors waxing lyrical about their polarising-but-amazing qualities. Then Finery London released their Cudworth style in patent black which might just be the ultimate 18 hour shoe. If you’ve been looking for a pair of heels to take you from desk to disco, without packing flats in your bag for the journey home, these are they. Use them to add an enticing edge to dresses, tailoring and off-duty dressing and let the compliments roll in.

We’re as guilty as anyone when it comes to checking out other people’s party shoes. They say a lot about you, like whether you dress from the bottom up and most damningly, whether you sacrifice style for comfort. That’s a personal choice of course, however we do believe that there are six party shoes that every women needs in her wardrobe.

Heels and fancy flats are a given but have you ever considered strutting into a party in sneakers? It’s a no brainer now that dressier and fancier pairs are flooding the market and a nifty styling trick borrowed from the boys: who are well versed in pairing their lace-ups with suits and tailoring. Slide-on-and-go mules were an unglamorous proposition until their ongoing reinvention which started a few seasons ago. And obviously a pair of decorative boots are the most cold-proof option, although eye-catching sandals will show off a killer pedicure.

Step up and shop your favourite styles from our top party picks below!

Since when I was a little girl my obsession for mary jane shoes hasn't faded away. There is nothing more girly and flirty than mary-jane flats or heels. It just makes you feel extra special when you wear them. We all can never forget Carri Bradshaw's encounter with the vintage Manolo Blahnik Mary-Jane pumps! I recently had the same excitement in a vintage shop only to find out the size was too small. But thankfully I've seen some new shoe collections with mary-janes like Miu-Miu and Prada!

A few days after she appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair proclaiming her love for her beau, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their first appearance together an an official event on the royal calendar (although they were forced to sit 18 seats apart due to royal protocol). The event was the opening of the Invictus Games in Toronto, Meghan's hometown. The Games, were created by Prince Harry and have been karmic to their relationship. They met for the first time last year when the royal was doing promotion in Canada.

The couple, has managed to keep a relatively low profile since they first started dating in July 2016. Later, Harry confirmed their relationship in November 2016, and made a plea to the social media trolls to stop the "wave of abuse and harassment" against Meghan.

Apart from Prince Harry, her charity work and being part of the very successful Suits cast for a few seasons now, Meghan Markle has an amazing sense of style: smart, eclectic and laid back. She can sport a pair of PVC leggings with a sweater and a white crisp shirt for afternoon drinks. In the daytime, we' ve seen her doing a very cool version of the double denim look, topped with ballerina pointy flats and a very hygge mohair trench coat. She also has a very modern take on business casual by pairing a matching grey blazer and shorts with sexy red pumps and duffle bag.

For a weekend day out you'll see her in black dungarees over a stripped shirt offset by red pumps while she looked absolutely stunning in a red ethereal long dress for a premiere in LA.

Browse through our gallery for more inspiration and see how you can recreate Meghan Markle's top rated looks below!
