We get it, ok? Swimwear shopping can be a daunting task at this time of year – so many styles, so many occasions to wear them. Whether you’re heading off on a sunny vacation, chilling at home, hitting the beach for volleyball and windsurfing or heading to a next-level pool party, you’re going to need at least a few options.

Luckily for you, we’ve selected the hottest swimwear trends of the summer and how and when to rock them…

Stripes

It’s all about big, bold stripes this summer, especially in rainbow tones – hello Pride Month. Invest in a high-leg one piece with lace-up detailing or a classic triangle bikini to rock this swimwear trend. Add cat-eye sunnies, gold-toned accessories and comfy mules. This look was made for fun vacations and parties so live it up.

Ruffles

Romantic Latin-inspired vibes reign this summer so a one-piece adorned with ruffles is a must-have. Opt for a monochrome style and add hoop earrings, layered necklaces, a wicker bag and a huge fedora hat for extra sun protection. This chic ensemble is perfect for poolside lounging and sashaying around that yacht deck.

Sporty vibes

Made ultra-covetable by the likes of Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein, nothing beats a sporty two-piece. A sports bra-style top and simple bikini bottoms are perfect for hitting the beach for a morning run or afternoon surf. Team yours with a classic white tee and complete the look with chunky Ray Bans.

Boho babe

The trend that inevitably rolls back around every summer because it’s just too cute and classic to pack away, crochet bikinis and monokinis with tasselled cords are the order of 2018. Up your game by opting for something besides the classic off-white style and team with a cool kimono, pool slides and round vintage-style sunnies.

Whether you're hitting the beach in an exotic location or just stopping by your local pool, looking your best is a must. So throw out the dad shorts, do away with those ill-fitting speedos and try these cool, casual swimwear trends for summer…

Tropical times

You can never go wrong with a tropical print but opting for the right style is essential with this trend. Opt for boxy styles that sit higher on the leg – too much excess fabric when paired with a print is never a good look. Go for blue and green shades to emphasize your tan and finish your look with a pair of mirrored sunglasses.

Riviera rules

Opt for a classic look with a pair of block-color swim shorts with subtle logo detailing at the leg or a contrasting drawcord. Pair them with a white polo-shirt, fedora hat and simple Ray Bans for an effortlessly cool Gallic-inspired vacation look.

‘80s statement

Infuse your summer swimwear line-up with a cool old-school aesthetic is by sporting stripes. Invest in a colourful design with a vertical stripe and add pared-down round sunnies for a vintage-inspired finish.

Playful print

Now’s your time to shine – whether you opt for a pineapple print, on-trend lobsters or a simple graphic design, a stylish print has the power to elevate your look to new heights. Opt for repeat patterns in modern silhouettes and avoid anything too long or loose – the secret to pulling off a print is tailoring. Pair with a neutral tee and you’re good to go. Now, which way to the beach?

Sun exposure, salty water, chlorine and frequent washes can make hair dull and brittle so summer can be a tough season for your tresses. We looked to our panel of beauty experts for a few tips on how to protect your hair during the warmer months.

Fancy having stunning holiday hair all summer long?...

Trim on the regular

Having your hair cut on a regular basis means preventing split ends before they can move up your strands. Book your hair appointment as a preventative measure even if your hair is already in a good condition. Every four to six months should do the trick.

Moisture locked

The sun can have a drying effect on your hair so it's essential to begin a regular regime of deep moisturizing. Apply serum on a weekly or fortnightly basis that will restore the moisture levels. For extra protection apply a hydrating mask for fine or dyed hair.

Wear a hat

Invest in cool fedora hats that will protect your hair and scalp as well as your face from the sun's harmful rays. This season we absolutely love a wide-brimmed hat with a cute bow or boho embroidery.

UV spray

Opt for a generous spritz of UV heat protector before you head out the door in summer. This seems like a small measure to take but it’ll make a ton of difference to your hair and scalp on sunny days.

Now go ahead and enjoy the summer sun with reckless abandon. Shop our favourite haircare products from the  edit below...

Even though band tees are nothing new, they're always on trend. Worn originally for no other purpose than to show your love for the music, now they've become a certified status symbol, with a ton of designers creating their own iterations.

Band T-shirts are an off-duty staple for celebs and influencers from Kendall Jenner's AC/DC and Slasher tees, to Gigi Hadid rocking a Metallica design, stars love an excuse to give their favourite acts a nod.

Now you might think a band tee should be strictly reserved for your off-duty line-up, but that’s where you’re wrong. We happen to think you can rock one for every occasion, so here’s how to style yours according to our Editors…

For off-duty

Pair your band tee with a pair of high-waisted jeans for an effortlessly cool look. Add ankle boots, vintage sunnies and a fedora hat for major rock 'n’ roll vibes. Or, in warmer weather, throw on your slides and distressed denim shorts in a pale wash or bright white hue.

For brunch

Opt for a relaxed look by wearing your T-shirt with a long summer skirt, espadrilles, a straw hat and an XXL bag containing all your day-to-day essentials.

For the gym

Rock your band tee over yoga-ready leggings, trainers and have your music up loud. Well, blasting your favourite band's tunes is optional, but we recommend it.

For travelling

For true rockstar feels work your band tee into your travel line-up. Wear it with a pair of relaxed culottes, comfy slides, sunnies and a snuggly scarf for those long-haul flights.

For the office

Finally, make a statement in a T-shirt with wide-leg, high-waisted trousers and heels. A cool block-heeled mule will elevate your look so all you’ll need to do is add an elegant shoulder bag and a chunky watch for keeping track of your meetings.

Stripes are always a good idea. They're chic, easy and complement most shapes. This year we' ve seen it all. From bold color-blocked editions, to classic Breton styles, thick bands and rainbow tones. Clashing stripes also got some buzz while oversized striped silhouettes were major winners on the runway.

We’ve rounded up our favourite ways to wear stripes this summer, so you can try them all for yourself...

Classic

Tuck your basic black and white shirt inside a pair of cool denim shorts and style them with mules to elongate your legs. Then just add an XXL bag, sunnies and a straw hat.

Ruffles

Opt for a ruffled striped shirt and pair it with fitted pants, booties and a chic clutch for an easy day-to-night look.

Skirt

Go for a long striped skirt, and style it with a silk blouse neutral heels and sunnies for an elegant twist.

Jumpsuit

Combine two trends in one by sporting a striped jumpsuit. Pair it with pointed kitten heels, a round-handle bag and a bold fedora hat, if you want to channel your inner Amal Clooney.

Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start to the summer. This makes it the perfect time to tap into a few of summer’s hottest trends. Hopefully you'll be spending the weekend in the sun, enjoying the parades and festivities.

We've put together four fool-proof looks that will match all your Memorial Day Weekend plans, whether you're attending your first pool party of the season, or jetting off on a reviving city break. Here's what to wear on Memorial Day Weekend...

For a city break

Whether it's Hamptons or Montauk you'll need an array of resort-ready separates to wear from the beach to the bar until the early hours of the morning. Snag a patterned jumpsuit and pair it with espadrilles, a pair of sunnies and an on-trend wicker bag to carry your essentials.

For a pool party

For glamping, cookouts  or simple poolside tanning you need a cool get-up. Show off in a  bikini in bold hues, pair with equally eye-grabbing sneakers, denim shorts and toss on a denim jacket for extra flair.

For a daytrip

If you're headed south for wine o'clock in Napa Valley you've got to do it in style. Sport a linen dress, red sandals, an oversized leather bag and a fedora straw hat that will keep you looking and feeling cool in warm weather.

Dakota Johnson belongs to Hollywood royalty but made her own name, starring in Fifty Shades of Grey and later becoming a Gucci muse. Now the actress is set to star in the much-anticipated adaptation of the horror film Suspiria.

She'll be heading up the cast of the 1977 classic alongside Chloe Grace Moretz, Mia Goth and an unrecognizable Tilda Swinton. The Fifty Shades of Grey star is known for her role choices as well as her understated style.

For red carpet she opts for long silhouettes, like the white Proenza Schouler number she rocked at a screening of Call Me By Your Name, in New York. Usually you'll find her in Gucci, whether it's the Met Gala, Fashion Week or the Oscars, where she donned a show-stopping gold gown…

For her off-duty looks you'll find her sporting a simple pair of denim cut-offs with a plain shirt, or slogan tee,  a fedora hat, sunnies and an indie scarf. Her hack for remaining chic at all times is adding designer accessories such as an oversized Gucci tote, a velvet duster coat and Gucci brogues.

This season calls for supersized everything. The wide-leg pantsuit is going through a revival and it’s looser, comfier and chicer than ever. We’ve put together a list of ways to rock the trend and put your own twist on it. So, here’s how to wear oversized pants...

Follow Meghan Markle's example by pairing your wide-leg pants with a fitted blouse, spring ankle boots and a cute tote bag.

Go for an office alternative by opting for a pantsuit in a wider fit with a silk shirt and pointy kitten heels, just like Victoria Beckham. Achieve her sleek look by going for no-filter makeup and mastering the messy bun.

Opt for low-key cool like model Nadine Leopold by teaming a colorfull pair with a relaxed T-shirt. Finish your look with white trainers and minimal jewelry.

Channel nautical chic like Amal Clooney by investing in a white pair. Team them with a white blouse, cream-colored mules and a white fedora hat for Riviera elegance.

Florence Welch recently made headlines all over the world as she sang tracks from her new album High as Hope at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Once again, Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine proved her skill not only in song and stage presence, but with her signature theatrical boho style – something we’ve always loved about her.

During the Chanel AW2015 show she conquered the red carpet in a blush-pink pantsuit with eclectic accessories and a huge black fedora hat. While at Erdem she appeared in an emerald-green feather coat, complementing a pair of dark-wash jeans.

A gal truly inspired by the '70s, Florence isn’t afraid of bold print and rocks anything from psychedelic swirls to chintzy florals. Sporting gowns with billowing capes – like that gorgeous custom Gucci column gown she donned for Chime for Change – this singer always wows us with her maximalist style. F

or accessories, Flo seems to love a fringed bag or teeny, tiny clutches. She's a fan of silk scarves, unique headpieces and of course, dangling bohemian earrings.

Following on Amy Schumer’s surprise wedding last week, it was Emily Ratajkowski who unexpectedly tied the knot this week. According to her Instagram account, she marries at a City Hall in New York City on Friday. Her feed was filled with a series of photos revealing the news, and a shared photo with engagement emojis.

Even more surprising than her nuptials was her unexpected choice of bridal wear. The model, went for a Zara Long Belted Jacket and Flared trousers in a dark mustard hue, and completed the look with a black fedora hat and gold jewellery.

Even though a City Hall wedding does not dictate a conventional white gown, we  were pleasantly surprised by her sartorially bold move. Ratajkowski married actor - producer Sebastian Bear McClard. The brief wedding ceremony  featured Instagram star Fat Jewish as a witness.

Congratulations to the newlyweds!

We all have that over the top friend or family member that is loud and after the excitement and drawn to big bold loud patterns. The important thing to remember about the maximalism lover is to aim for anything that is not basic.

So instead for a mere blazer go for a sequined blazer or a cape. Instead of a baseball cap go for a fedora hat, and instead of a parka or classic trench coat opt for a decadent faux fur coat. In terms of colour hues and patterns the bolder the better. Go for optimistic fuchsias, gold electric blue juxtaposed with white and black. Look into the patterns of Gucci for the ultimate Italian opulent maximalism mantra, or opt for a more affordable version from Ganni and Roland Mouret.
