If your living space is looking a little unloved but you don’t have time for the major task of redecorating, we have the perfect set of summer home hacks for you…

Opting for nature-inspired prints and earthy accents is a great way to refresh any room in your house. Plus, the beauty of the botanical décor trend is that it can be repurposed and reinvented for every season – leaf prints and florals are always in.

Statement wallpaper

Bold wallpaper is a great way to infuse a room with botanical beauty. Opt for a lush green palm print for your living space, bamboo and bark for the bathroom and soft petals for the bedroom.

Mix everything

Mix up your couch, your cushions and your drapes by clashing your prints, tones and textures. Avoid matching pieces and opt for a cool gallery wall or surface of framed prints to achieve an effortlessly eclectic look.

Accessories and accents

Greens and earth tones look stunning next to bright tones like off white and copper. Contrast your printed pieces with metallic accessories and soft creamy-toned soft furnishings and walls.

Hot houseplants

What’s a botanical paradise without a few houseplants? Invest in a few faux options that will elevate your space and require zero time and effort all year round.

Shop our edit below to try the botanical home trend for yourself this summer…

If you don’t own a basket bag you can’t sit with us. Seriously though, we love a boho or vintage-inspired accessory and the humble basket bag is top of our list. Loved by celebs and influencers everywhere, a woven handbag is an easy piece to rock – especially with your summer line-up…

We’ve seen iterations by Insta-famous favourite Cult Gaia, Loewe and A.P.C and plenty of gorgeous dupes on the high street too, which begs the question: when it comes to raffia totes, wicker baskets and woven clutches, should one spend or save?

We road tested high-end and affordable basket bags to find out if this is one of the pieces worth investing in or heading to the high street to cop…

SPEND

As with all designer bags, there’s no denying the quality of a label-made piece. With a designer basket bag you’re paying for the sturdy straps, top notch stitching and decent lining. Proper hardware and a clasp or zip that works seamlessly is a plus in this case too.

The other obvious advantage is being able to rock an instantly recognisable IT-bag that you’ll be able to use for years to come – let’s be honest, the basket is never going out of style.

SAVE

It’s not like basket bags are few and far between, there are a ton of gorgeous options available for under £50, however, if the high street doesn’t float your boat you can find options by more niche designers too, great if you don’t fancy sporting the same style as everyone else.

Plus, a more affordable raffia or wicker bag might not be perfectly finished but it’s much easier to pull off a dupe like this than a faux Chloe or Gucci number – heaven forbid.  Ready to spend or save? Shop our edit below to find the basket bag of your dreams…

Sometimes the simplest trends are the best ones. Let’s be honest, on those days when you’ve ‘nothing to wear’ you can’t do much better than black jeans, a white shirt and a blazer. Sometimes less is more and that’s certainly the case with this summer’s hottest footwear trend…

Pool slides hit the runway a few seasons back and now they’re everywhere. We’ve seen classic monochrome iterations from Givenchy, studded slides from Chloé and our bejewelled designs in colourful satin by Miu Miu.

The high street also has an impressive line-up on offer – from Zara and Topshop to Mango, you’ll find pool slides at every turn. Now, the slide silhouette is simple and ridiculously easy to wear, meaning you can amp things up a little with the design.

We love knotted and embellished styles, metallics to give those all-white summer looks a lift and neon for summer festival ensembles with denim cut-offs and glitter. Try satin, faux shearling or gingham for a cool textural look, or go super simple in a vacay-ready rubber pair.

Now that summer’s in full swing – well, more or less – we’re looking to our favourite beauty bloggers for new tips on how to get our glow on. Achieving the perfect sun-kissed make-up look is an art form and there are a few tricks you’ll need to know before you nail it.

One of these beauty hacks is embracing the humble freckle. Freckles are unique, beautiful and should never be covered up – just take a hint from Meghan Markle who proudly makes hers the focus of her look, wherever she goes.

If you’re lucky enough to have a sprinkling of real freckles then opt for a foundation offering lighter coverage, a glowy primer or simple concealer to blend any redness or dark circles out while letting those freckles shine through.

Be sure to use a moisturiser or make-up with SPF and dot over any freckles you want to accentuate with an eyebrow pencil in a neutral shade.

If you don’t have freckles, worry not because it’s easy to fake it. For the perfect faux glow, all you’ll need are a few products. Just do your make-up as you usually would and make sure you have a smooth, well-moisturised base to work on.

Then, with a little brown eyeshadow, a pencil or a dab of concealer in a darker shade than your natural skin tone, dot a few clusters over the bridge of your nose and across your cheeks.

Start small and build up using a brush, depending on how subtle a look you want to go for. Finally, dust off with some setting powder and a little bronzer. To supercharge your look for summer, sweep a little gold-toned highlighter over the tops of your cheekbones and dot a little at the tip of your nose.

Just last year Prada showcased seashell necklaces at Fashion Week and we have to admit we loved it. This season influencers are snapping selfies with beaded bags and jewellery inspired by sealife too.

This is set to be one of the biggest accessory trends of the season - despite the circa 2000 surfer chick vibe - so we’ ve listed a few tips on how to rock it for yourself…

Avoid anything plastic or obviously faux. Instead look for delicate refined shells in gold or silver. There are a number of smaller brands that are driving this trend so don't be afraid to try them out.

Pair your accessories with boho-inspired dresses, striped tops, or simple white tees. The key is to opt for a nautical or bohemian vacay-inspired theme to carry this trend.

By now you've probably noticed the beauty trend dominating Pinterest and Instagram. Your cheat sheet to achieving that dewy, radiant skin all year long without much makeup is a highlighter that complements your skin tone and is becoming a beauty staple essential as blush of eyeliner.

How to choose the best highlighter for your skin tone...

Fair skin tones

For those with a light to pale complexion, it's best to opt for highlighters with a pearlescent gloss. The light pigments add enough radiance to your skin tone without washing you out. Stay away from shades that are too warm or too dark to avoid a heavy faux look.

Medium skin tones

If you want to wake up your skin opt for a highlighter with peach or gold undertones. This slight hint of colour is perfect for achieving a very natural sun-kissed glow. Add a bronze or gold eyeshadow and a nude lip to instantly look like a summer goddess.

Dark skin tones

For those with a darker skin colour go for a rich variation of rose gold or bronze. Make sure to opt for make up options that pack in lots of pigment and stay away from opalescent hues that might make the skin look grey. Mix your highlighter with your foundation to give an all over summer glow and apply a vibrant red lip for a show-stopping look.

Summer is on the horizon and let’s face it, our penchant for palm trees is still going strong. In fact, we’re embracing the tropical trend and going full cabana with rum on the bar cart, tropical tunes in our headphones and warm-weather plants filling up our living rooms.

But hold on just a second… Lest you want your home to look more like a ‘60s themed hotel suite, there are a few rules to follow when opting for this trend in your home. Our Editors have put together a few simple tips on how to nail the look, whatever your budget and no matter the size of your space.

Unless you love that kitsch, busy look, go for a single print and stick to it. Palm print wallpaper is a great way to channel the tropical trend and some of the world’s coolest designers have created their own signature versions. Keep the rest of your room pared down for a sleek contrast.

Mix up your textures. Things are going to look a little over the top if all rattan everything is your rule. Instead, mix dark woods and maybe a little velvet for a cool, plush finish. Add a rattan chair or screen for a cool Cuban twist.

Use accessories to your advantage. Create a sense of sunshine with big, light-reflecting mirrors, metallic accents, cool cushions and cocktail glasses.

Invest in some house plants to complete the tropical look – don’t worry if you don’t get on with real plants, there are some great faux options available which are much more manageable and look great.

Create a chic summer look at home and indulge in a little staycation with the picks from our edit below…

Summer items are flooding our Insta feeds and we're already making note of our faves. After a very successful run in street style snaps and Insta stories across the globe last spring, the straw basket bag is back for good.

Fashion bloggers and influencers are trading faux fur and leather, for the lighter and more weather appropriate fashion accessory.

Quick history lesson: the wicker bag craze is a nod to the seventies style icon Jane Birkin. One of her staples was a chic wicker basket that she paired with her other seasonal faves like washed out bell-bottom pants, floral tea dresses, high-waisted denim shorts and striped tees.

Today’s fashion pack – including French model Jeanne Damas and blogger Camille Charriére – are also welcoming the trend. If you want to nail the look, pair your basket bag with a cool ruffled dress, sleek mules and a bold red lip.

In our never-ending search for the ultimate party accessory, we stumbled upon a bag that's making waves across social media. Although this is one of the chicest ways to elevate your evening attire, this accessory is completely wearable with a pair of jeans and a blazer. The design and embellishments mean this bag has the power to transform any outfit, be it day or night.

If 2017 was an ode to rustic totes, bamboo creations (thanks, CULT GAIA) and mini velvet body bags – see Gucci –  this year is a homage to the beaded bag. You might not see it as the most practical of the bunch but it's definitely got the retro aesthetic down to a T. The beaded bag was inspired by Shrimps’ Antonia bag, and the brand’s wild pink faux-fur Graham clutch with beaded embellishments.

Sasah Alexandra's multicolor version and Vanina's cult Camelia cross-body have also been spotted adorning the arms of the fashion elite, From Leandra Medine to Pandora Sykes, Camille Chariere Maria Bernard and Laura Jackson, it seems that everyone wants a piece of this vintage-inspired trend.

Ice cream chic is a now thing and well before gelato season. Fashion's affinity for the pastel pile-up from the cones to the runway took the form of head-to-toe violet at Victoria Beckham, lemon sorbet at Hermés and pistachio hues at Sies Marjan and it's our Instacrush of the week.

At Helmut Lang, Shayne Oliver took blushing pink and morphed it into its adversary: fetishwear, while Raf Simons at Calvin Klein took baby blue babydolls and turned them into a Rosemary's Baby sinister version. This playfulness aesthetic came about at a year that yearns for aggressive celebration. Winter's metallics, feathers, glitter, rainbows and all round sparkle surrounding a Buz Luhrmann movie set, is the perfect testament to the celebratory moto.

Feel good fashion also was translated into pencil skirts and sheer layers that we can wiggle and shimmy in. Our staples like our trench coats, faux fur coats slip dresses and boots are receiving the joyful reincarnation of their own. Embellishments, diamonds, broaches, and lavish bandanas that would make any fashion girl sigh.

Stockholm Fashion Editor and street style extraordinaire Jeanette Madsen is an ice cream hue aficionado. She has the engaging ability to effortlessly combine pastel shades and evading the baby connotations at the same time.
