The society event of the year took place this weekend, and from racy speeches to beautifully dressed guests, we have all the details you need to know about to be up to date.

In case you hadn’t heard already, we’re talking about Pippa Middleton’s wedding to millionaire hedge-fund manager James Matthews of course!

The lavish ceremony attended by many royals started at St Mark’s Church in Englefield, and was followed by a reception at Pippa’s parents' house in Bucklebury. It is rumoured to have cost the family hundreds of thousands of pounds, but that’s doesn’t really surprise us given the small details that we know about, like the 140ft glass marquee that they held in their garden or the fact that all the waiters were models…

Everything ran super smoothly except for a few mishaps.

Although James reportedly prevented his brother, reality TV star Spencer Matthews, from making a speech, it looks like he was worrying about the wrong person. His best man, Justin Johannsen, compared Pippa to a dog and made several sexual comments in his speech, leading to an awkward silence at the wedding. We can only imagine the reaction of the royals…

There was also some controversy regarding the seating plan. For some curious reason, Meghan Markle, Harry’s current girlfriend, was sat apart from him during the ceremony. We hope it wasn’t deliberate…

Overall, though, the dreamy ceremony was perfectly orchestrated and the guests wore beautiful outfits, totally up to the wedding’s standards. From Pippa’s gorgeous Giles Deacon gown to Kate’s blush pink Alexander McQueen dress, we were super impressed.

Velvet has been around for decades, but the new modern velvet is transitioning:  From high end fashion to the high street, from lounge wear to formal dresses, there’s a velvet piece out there for every occasion!

This season, brands have been experimenting with design, our favourite pieces pleated fabric, ideally for trousers and midi skirts.

Colour wise, if you’re looking to play it safe we recommend going for pastel shades, but we also love the bolder and more unexpected tones like canary yellow or teal, that’ll really make you stand out.

Now scroll down to shop our selection of velvet pieces from brands like House of Sunny and Lavish Alice, to be on top of this season’s most comfortable trend.

The corset belt is having a moment! Its time to update your look with a unique accessory. The corset has been modernised. Lucinda Chambers, British Vogue’s fashion director styled Zoe Ghertner in a corset and an oversized shirt in early 2017, forming a new silhouette. The waist is the focus here, to emphasise your shape.

Striped shirts look great- as do plain white cotton or neutral colours, or shirts with exagerrated sleeves as seen in the SS17 Jacquemus show. The best thing about the corset- it can be worn during the day, at work, brunch or at night with a dress. These belts are buckled or laced and adjustable to fit your waist, it is both incorporated in t- shirts and sold as separates.

Shopcade has put together the favourites. We recommend you wear the corset with a dress, t-shirt or an oversized shirt.

1. Adidas
2. Gucci
3. Christian Dior
4. Chanel
5. Rolex
6. Louis Vuitton
7. L’Oréal
8. Burberry
9. Versace
10. Hermes

Here’s what happened in this week’s resort shows.

Prada and Chanel were the first to display their resort 2018 shows on the catwalk. In true splendour, Karl Lagerfeld and Miuccia Prada presented us with some spectacular shows, both equally as impressive with hints sparkle!

In Paris, Chanel cruise 2018 set the scene in Ancient Grece…packed with drama! Stepping back into an era of draped gold and white grecian gowns, ornate headpieces ad fine jewellery as well as gladiator sandals and gloves. Karl presented true classical glamour, with a Chanel twist. Chanel girls included models Mica Arganaraz, Marjan Jonkman and Ana Ewers, and attendees Keira Knightley and Yara Shahidi.

Prada’s Instagram revealed their post: “The Shape of Things”, with the emphasis on shape and structure for this collection. They juxtaposed soft femininity with industrial structures. The overall feel of the collection was playful, mixing sportswear, luxe, lingerie and sheer layering. Pink, green and lilac pastel hues, silver sequins and feathers lined the runway. This glittering display was accompanied by a beautiful pink walled and parquet floor set. Just dreamy!

This spring, it’s time to show your true colours.

Say goodbye to your endless pairs of dark jeans, grey jumpers and black boots and bring some brightness into your wardrobe with bold coloured pieces.

The point is to stand out, and not to play it safe. So avoid muted, dark or pastel shades, and instead favour unusual colours like scarlet red, canary yellow or bright fuchsia.

Of course, it’s important not to overdo it. If you don’t want people asking whether you’re going to a costume party, stay clear from any busy or complicated prints and favour plain colours. We do however encourage you to experiment with shapes. We’re talking voluminous sleeves, statement ruffles and architectural silhouettes.

Luckily, if you’re still unsure about what to buy, we put together a list of our our favourite pieces below, to make sure you get this one right. From Ted Baker's Cottoned On collection to Victoria Beckham SS17 pieces, you'll be sure to find something for you!
