Sometimes, it's easy to forget how many things we need to carry with us on a daily basis. While the contents of every woman's bag is different there are a few handbag essentials that every woman should keep stashed away.

We looked to our Editors for a few tips on the things no woman should be without, and found out what they carry on a daily basis...

Sunnies

Keep a pair of  sunnies in your tote and you’ll always look chic. Plus, if you’re having a bad day or the sun’s shining, it’s a bonus if you can keep your eyes protected while looking ultra cool.

Concealer

Late night? Headed to the bar after work? Long day at the office? A good quality concealer is the miracle-worker for the woman on the go.

Signature lipstick

Your go-to shade says a lot about you and a quick slick of lipstick is always guaranteed to take your look to the next level. Carry your signature lip product in your bag so you can always refresh, whatever the occasion.

Wallet

Even though you can pay for most things on the go with your smartphone, keep a luxe wallet with some cash, a few cards and an ID in your handbag at all times. You never know when you'll get carded after all.

Dry shampoo

Revive tired, flat or greasy hair with a little dry shampoo and look fresh in an instant. There are some great minis out there, perfect for throwing into your bag before you head out the door.

Bleach blonde hair looks amazing but it's also a lot of hard work. Unless you want your ends to split, your lengths to be frizzy and dry or your color turning yellow, you need to follow a few rules for healthy-looking hair.  We looked to our panel of beauty experts to find out the best ways to look after blonde hair and how to repair it too.

Here's how to care for your bleach blonde hair...

No rush

You can't rush the process of going bottle blonde. If you have dark hair especially previously dyed hair you’ll need to take your time and gradually work towards a lighter shade. At least three to four appointments are needed to reach your blonde hair goals. Don’t go all in or you’ll end up damaging your hair and definitely won’t achieve your desired shade.

Perfect salon

Do your research, consult Instagram, ask friends and be sure of the best way to fulfil your blonde ambition. Take a thorough look at the previous work of stylists and salons you like. Then  be prepared to drop some serious cash to know you’re getting the best for your hair.

No DIY

At least not the first time. Home bleaching can be extremely damaging to the hair if overused or if you've never done it before. At least speak to a colorist for a consultation before attempting it.

Proper haircare products

There's no easy way to lighten your hair because bleaching damages the hair, plain and simple. But you can lessen the damage by ensuring you're using the right products. Use a selection of moisturizing products to strengthen the bonds within the hair and prevent breakage or damage.

Ready to try a bleach blonde look this summer? Before you make your hair appointment make sure you stock up on the essentials from our edit below...

It's official: summer is here and whether you're prepping with turmeric-infused smoothies and SoulCycle sessions or simply relaxing into the new season, it’s time for a fresh approach to your beauty routine. We’ve put together a few tips on how to prep your body for the beach, ensuring you feel cool, comfortable and confident in your bikini this summer…

How to prep your skin

Start with regular body brushing or exfoliating with mitts and scrubs. Smooth along the backs of the legs, elbows and knees. Stimulate your circulation and improve the appearance of your skin tone while sloughing away any dead skin and getting a fresh glow on. Next, moisturize your skin by applying a hydrating body oil. Focus on any dry areas and use a luxe night cream to nourish your skin.

Incorporate a decent sunblock or primer with SPF into your beauty routine. This is essential for protecting the delicate skin on your face from harmful sun damage in the summer months. For hair removal, if that’s your jam,  be sure to exfoliate beforehand for an even, long-lasting finish. Book your wax at least 72 hours before you hit the beach to allow time for your skin to settle.

How to prep your nails

Try an intensive pedicure with a callus-peel if necessary. Those feet could do with a  rejuvenating session after a long winter. Apply moisturizer to the bottoms of your feet to prolong your pedi for the days that follow. As for the shade, pick a hue that contrasts your skin and makes your tan pop.

How to top up your tan

Whether you're booked a spray tan appointment or are tanning at home make sure to exfoliate and moisturize to prevent streaks and always book your spray tan a day before heading to the beach. If you're at home apply your formula with a mitt to avoid staining your hands and distribute the color more evenly. Wash your hands immediately and wait for at least ten minutes before putting on clothes.

Now that summer’s here, we’re investing in breezy warm-weather ensembles to see in the new season in style. Vacay-ready dresses and denim shorts in summer hues call for bronzed limbs but we’re not about to risk sun damage by hitting the poolside sans SPF. Instead, we’ll be opting for a quality self tan to achieve that healthy summer glow without exposing skin to harmful UV rays.

Want to get the glow? Just follow our simple tips for achieving the perfect summer tan without compromising on your skin’s health…

Choose wisely

Opting for a dark self tan might seem like a quick fix, but your glow is far more likely to look natural if you invest in a subtler shade. Make sure your skin tone matches whatever you pick and opt for something similar to a product you already enjoy using

For example, if lotion is your jam then a tanning cream could be for you. If you prefer something more lightweight on your skin, go for a spray or mousse. Work with whatever feels comfortable for you.

Exfoliate

Be sure to prep your skin before applying your self tan. Use a quality exfoliating scrub in the shower to brush away dry skin and get your skin feeling clean, fresh and ready for application. Using bronzing products after exfoliating means your glow will last much longer.

Layer it

Avoid the temptation to pile on the product and instead, apply a light layer a day at a time to build up a natural-looking colour. This way, you can exfoliate any dry patches and moisturise in between applications to keep your skin soft, supple and happy.

Glow up

Finish off your tanning routine with a shimmering bronzer – we love a gold-toned powder or simple contouring kit to highlight that golden glow. Add a little definition to your cheekbones and décolletage and you’ll be ready to rock that summer dress in no time.

Ever wonder what is it that people with healthy hair do to get their tresses so on point? Sometimes it's about more than just using the right shampoo. We looked to a few haircare experts to find out what to do to achieve that natural bounce, strength and shine...

Get haircuts on the regular

If your ends are splitting, be sure to book in for regular trims curb that breakage. Make your hair appointments every 6-8 weeks.

Go au naturel

Everyone needs a rest from time to time and the same goes for your hair. Let your hair dry without heated styling products if you can and take a rest from too much product. Let it all hang loose and avoid scrunching it up too.

Hair care also means scalp care

If you're itchy and constantly scratching your head that might be a sign. Dry hair, too much product and regular pulling or scratching can  traumatize your scalp. Try products that will enhance the health of the scalp and be kind to your hair.

Add protein to your diet

Hair is keratinized protein so adding it to your everyday meals will practically mean building more hair. Add some iron while you're at it, as iron deficiency has been linked to female hair loss. And for vegans there are a lot of yummy ways to add it too.

Condition your hair

You should incorporate a deep conditioner into your weekly hair care routine for extra hydration. There are many deep-conditioning hair masks that you can apply once a week for extra shine and healthy locks. We’ve listed a few we love below.

Harsh weather, fumes and the stress of city life can weaken our defences and dry up the skin so protecting it is key. Luckily, anti-pollution beauty has arrived. So, for all you city dwellers, we've prepared a list of hacks and products to save your complexion, fight free radicals and get that much-desired glow. Anti-pollution beauty consists of purifying the skin and then  reviving it with great skincare and nutrition...

Begin your routine with a great cleanser. Wash your face and then exfoliate to slough away dry, dead skin; you can use an AHA for this or a gentle scrub two or three times a week.

Follow this with a charcoal mask charcoal is great at purifying the skin and ridding your face of city grime and dirt. Next, apply defence-boosting oils and glow-activating serums for that extra luminous effect.

Finally, make sure you invest in a quality SPF and a daily moisturiser that will protect your skin against damaging UVA and UVB rays. Make-up containing an SPF is great for an extra barrier against sun damage too.

Boost your inner beauty by indulging in a diet full of antioxidants like citrus fruit and berries, nuts and delicious avocados for Vitamin E. Vitamin E is great for fighting free radicals and promoting healthy cell reproduction.

Be sure to incorporate lots of Omega 3 and fatty acids into your diet to help with this too. These are typically found in salmon, tuna and other oily fish. These vitamins and minerals are great for boosting your collagen production, giving you that healthy glow.

Blake Lively always looks incredible. Bursting onto our screens as the glamorous and sparkly Serena in Gossip Girl, she has dazzled us ever since. This is a snap of Lively in West Hollywood last month. What I love the most about this look is her hair. Lively often goes for a soft, curled blow dry so I always love seeing her with a tighter curl. She really suits this hairstyle and it looks fabulous and carefree with her black, fitted dress. Image: Getty Images

Spring is all about dewy skin, barely there shimmers and healthy glows but knowing how to help your skin look its best can be tricky. Protecting it from pollutants in the air is tough and layering up on make up doesn’t always help either. We enlisted the help of some of our favourite beauty bloggers and editors to put together a list of tricks and tools to help you get glowing skin in next to no time. So ditch the foundation, put a cross on your calendar and prepare for a night in dedicated to skincare and spa-like relaxation.

How to detox your skin…

Drink more

It sounds obvious but staying hydrated is the key to great skin. Water and tea are best for flushing the toxins out of your body but avoid black teas and stick to a green tea or a brew made from nettles, dandelion and other detoxifying ingredients.

Work out

Raising your heart rate and breaking a sweat are great for resetting your system, your skin included. Sweating out impurities that build up from snacking on junk food and exposing your skin to pollution and dirt is great but just make sure you hit the shower after a work out to avoid sweat drying on your skin.

Try dry brushing

Brushing your skin helps to slough away dead skin cells and gently help your face and body to feel softer and look brighter. Massaging your skin also helps so investing in a little hand-held massage roller is a great idea too.

Exfoliate your skin and use a mask

Using a face and body exfoliator is a must if you want glowing skin to rival a beauty blogger. Stick with something gentle and exfoliate once a week. You can also use an electric exfoliator like a Foreo – these are great for when you’re in a rush. Using a face mask will also help to nourish and heal your skin, drawing out impurities and leaving it feeling renewed.

Steam your skin

Warm steam is great for your skin so take a cleansing bath or make some time to use a special beauty steamer. Your face will thank you for it.

Indoor Plants are the new home trend everybody is crazy about, but many people don’t know that they have a ton of benefits aside from looking great. So, if you needed a few extra reasons to decorate your home with plants, read-on and you’ll find out why it’s definitely a good idea.

Plants help with breathing

Plants absorb carbone dioxide and release oxygen, the opposite of what humans do when breathing, making them great partners. But it’s important to remember that this process reverses at night, when plants absorbe oxygen and release carbon dioxide. So, unless you go for orchids, succulents or epiphytic bromeliads which never release any carbon dioxide, keep them in your living room and away from your bedroom.

They Purify the Air

Plants remove toxins from the air. In fact, according to NASA research, they can get rid of up to 87% of volatile organic compounds every day.

They Release Moisture

Plants naturally release moisture which increases the humidity of the air around them. This has been shown to decrease dry skin among other things, meaning you can finally cut down on moisturiser.

They Improve Health

Many studies have shown that plants help sick patients heal faster, but also decrease fatigue, colds, headaches, coughs, sore throats and flu-like symptoms. So now you finally know why bringing plants to ill people is such a thing.

They Sharpen Focus

Studies have shown that having plants indoors makes you more attentive and increases memory retention by up to 20 percent. So if you’re looking to increase your productivity, all you need to do is buy yourself a plant.

One of the main problems of hair is dryness, due to everything we do with it on a day to day basis. Heat appliances, hairstyles and many other factors make the tips dry out, and we urgently need to hydrate the hair. Before reaching this point, we should also think about using a moisturising mask for the hair.Credits: Pinterest
