When it comes to inspiration for a next-level Halloween look there's only one place to go... Instagram. We looked to our favourite Insta influencers for a few tips and tricks on how to nail the coolest looks of 2018.

Now, when it comes to creating an outstanding Halloween beauty look the tools you use are super important. Plus, remember that what you're putting on your skin needs to be gentle and breathable. So step away from the face paints.

Layering is key to creating the perfect beauty look. You can't go adding glitter before you've created a proper base. Always work with light layers and make sure they're dry before adding more. This way you can create shade and texture with darker and lighter highlights.

Stencils are a great way to achieve picture-perfect results. You can buy these or make your own by simply cutting shapes in paper with a scissor. Try using fishnet tights to create scale effects for mermaid looks or cut out paper hearts for the perfect Harley Quinn tribute.

With the weather turning cooler and the days getting shorter it’s more important than ever to make sure you’re on top of your game. Summoning the motivation to work out, hydrate, take care of your skin and get enough sleep on top of your other responsibilities can be a pain, but in fall it’s so worth it.

Skincare is essential during the colder months and nobody wants dry skin and chapped lips. Get into the habit of exfoliating your face and body one to two times a week and never skip the moisturizer. You might want to invest in a few gadgets to make this easier – we love the clever little Foreo exfoliator for getting the job done.

If you’ve got a little more time on your hands, a soak in the tub with a facemask to draw out impurities and clarify the skin is always a good idea. Try adding restorative salts and oils to your bathwater for an extra mineral boost to soothe tired muscles.

Now, we know it’s colder and darker out there but exercise is key for a healthy body and mind. If you’re heading outside to work out, opt for a breathable base layer and shoes with decent traction. Don’t forget your headphones and Fitbit to track your progress.

Post work out it’s all about comfort and relaxation. Fix yourself a healthy snack; take your vitamins, hydrate and chill. We recommend comfy loungewear and a luxe sleep mask to take your down-time to the next level.

If there’s one beauty essential we’ll never leave the house without, it’s lip balm. No matter the season, it’s a must-have for on-the-go moisture. But now that it’s starting to get colder – not to mention the inevitable windy weather – it's time to step our lip care game up a notch...

The best way to beat seriously chapped lips? Start with an exfoliator. Look for scrubs with organic sugar crystals and soothing essentials and use about three times a week to buff dry, flaky skin away for good.

While balms are perfect for keeping your lips moisturized throughout the day, a mask will work wonders overnight. Opt for key ingredients like coconut oil and mango butter for soft, supple lips by the morning.

We’ll always have a space in our make up bag for a balm, but now there are so many treatments and conditioners to choose from. Whether you prefer a two-in-one hydrating lipstick or a plumping gloss, there’s a product to suit every possible need.

While we love those vacation-ready beachy waves sometimes the sun, sea and sand can take a heavy toll on your hair, leaving it feeling super dry and frazzled when fall begins.

Thankfully, there are plenty of products designed to bring post-summer hair back to life – just in time to start the new season. We looked to the experts for a few tips on how to revive your tresses to their former glory…

Before washing

The first step to restoring a healthy shine after months of UV damage? Get yourself a hair mask. Try a deep conditioning butter and cover the lengths and ends of your hair – leave it overnight for maximum effect. Your hair will be left feeling super soft and tangle-free.

While washing

If your scalp has suffered due to sun exposure, invest in a soothing shampoo that treats dry skin and follow with a super moisturizing conditioner – try a leave-in one to tackle split ends.

Before drying

Before getting the hair dryer out, it’s time to lock in the moisture with a protective serum or spray. Look for one with nutrient-rich oils to keep your hair super hydrated and protected from heat – those beachy waves are no longer going to style themselves, after all.

After drying

Opt for a smoothing serum to add extra shine, tame flyaways and lend your locks a little extra moisture or if you find serum a little too greasy, finish with a spritz of nourishing shine spray.  Shop our post-summer hair care edit below…

After a long summer of unbearably hot commutes, office air con and sunbathing on the beach (if you were lucky), now is the perfect time to step up your skincare routine.

Whether your skin is feeling super dry from the sun or the balmy nights have taken their toll on your already-oily complexion, we’ve picked out the essentials you need to start fall feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

Energize

If heading back to work after a two-week getaway feels daunting, don’t worry – The Body Shop’s Energizing range is enriched with Brazilian guarana and Ethiopian green coffee to invigorate your skin and give you the wake up you need. Try the cleanser first thing in the morning.

Cleanse

If your skin has been feeling oily recently, look for a deep-cleansing face wash that removes excess oil and reduces the appearance of pores. The Kiehl’s Oil Eliminator helps to eliminate sweat and airborne pollutants, so your skin will be left looking smooth and shine-free.

Hydrate

If you haven’t been spending too much time in the sun, you’ve probably been stuck at work with the AC on full blast – now it’s time to rehydrate. Kiehl’s's Facial Fuel is enriched with vitamins and ideal for normal to dry skin types, and will leave your face feeling revitalized.

Summer vacations are all about sea, sun and seeing beautiful places. Nothing beats a relaxing trip abroad or a warm-weather staycation and not much can ruin one either, apart from maybe those photos of you with poolside panda eyes …

If you’re heading somewhere hot then opting for lightweight make up that won’t budge is essential. Minimal make up is always better in the heat but if you can’t kick the foundation for a week make sure you invest in a product that won’t be sliding down your face minutes after applying.

The same goes for eye make up – an award-winning waterproof mascara is a must for beach holidays and those all-important photo moments. Our beauty insiders recommend going for a mascara formulated for sports to ensure round-the-clock staying power.

Powders can crack and stick to dry patches in the heat so consider waterproof pigment pencils for your brows, lips and cheeks and finish off with a shimmering cream bronzer for a simple sunkissed look.

We’ve created an edit of beauty heroes to help you survive the heat so rest assured your make up will be on point from morning ‘til night. Browse and shop the edit below…

With so many festivals and big events taking place this summer, it’s time to supercharge your look. We’re talking cute pastel hues, metallics, glitter and statement accessories. But why stop with your outfit?

Festival hair is the biggest trend to hit Instagram this season and believe us when we say these mermaid and extra terrestrial-inspired looks are here to stay. Though they might look out of this world, they’re actually pretty easy to master…

Start with clean hair

Be sure to give your hair a good wash before attempting a festival hair look. Using a purifying shampoo, conditioner and scalp exfoliator will give you a great base to start with. Give your locks a simple blow dry with plenty of heat protector and style wavy, straight or curly, depending on your preference.

Get textured

The boho babe look is all about texture so use a texturizing spray, pomade or salt spray to tease and curl different sections of you hair. Scrunch, twist and even backcomb a few sections underneath to add volume. Next, style in braids or space buns and finish with a little extra backcombing at the front.

Just add glitter

Next you’ll want to add a little sparkle. Spray a little hairspray or lightly apply a small amount of gel to the area you want to add glitter to. Then using soft make up brush carefully dab glitter in layers and set with hair spray.

Finishing touches

Finally, take a little color spray or hair chalk and highlight sections of your bangs or the ends of your braids. Go for a cool blue or pastel pink to really make the glitter pop. Finish with a spritz of hair perfume to keep you fresh and festival ready and voilà.

A vacation means no worries, zero commitments and a break from the daily grind. However, there are some things you probably shouldn’t let slide while you’re away from home, skincare and haircare being two of them.

Excessive exposure to UV rays can really dry and damage hair so if you’re enjoying a week of relaxation in the sun, you’ll want to at least make a low-key effort to protect your hair. We’ve compiled a few ways to help keep your locks healthy all summer long...

Quick spritz

Just like your skin, when hair is exposed to the sun it becomes dry and damaged. The best way to protect it is by applying a UV protectant spray before you leave the house. Spritz through damp hair before you air or blow dry or apply liberally to dry hair – especially around your part and hairline.

Bandana babe

Keep your head, hair and skin protected from the sun with on-trend headgear. Simply wrap a cool bandana or silk scarf around your tresses, secure your ponytail with printed fabrics or go for a full head wrap in a knotted or turban style.

Serum smooth

Your after-sun routine should feature a moisturizing serum that you can apply from the roots to the end of the hair. Keep it in your hair for at least ten minutes and rinse thoroughly. Consider switching between a serum and a hair mask for damaged hair every four days.

Braid it

Another easy hack to keep your hair safe from the sun’s rays is braiding it when wet. Braids lock in moisture and are great for keeping your hair in place and ensuring you stay cool in the heat. Plus, you can channel those mermaid vibes when you take the braids out later.

We’ve all been guilty of letting our hair dry out on holiday, returning home with a salty, sun-bleached mane of tangles and wondering why we let things slide…

Looking like a bonafide beach babe doesn’t mean your hair should suffer so add these five hacks to your vacay beauty routine and thank us later.

Brush it out

Invest in a wide-toothed brush or comb to tease those tangles out and remember to be gentle. A spritz of detangler or UV heat protection spray can help with knotty hair but beware of brushing when wet and avoid slathering in conditioner before you brush as hair is more elastic in this state and prone to breakage.

Start at the root

It’s just as important to care for your scalp so before you start treating your hair, exfoliate and moisturise the skin at the root. There are plenty of great products that soothe and moisturise the scalp which is ideal if you’re heading somewhere hot.

Don’t scrunch

Gently twist your tresses and secure them with a clip or an Invisibobble, rather than scrunching them up and tying with an elastic as this bends, breaks and weakens the hair shaft leaving you with broken ends and unruly kinks – not ideal in hot weather.

Use a silk scarf

Silk prevents breakage and doesn’t create friction so if you want to keep your hair out of your face, try wrapping it up in a soft scarf. Opt for a cool printed style and knot or tie it around your ponytail or in a turban-style twist on top of your head.

Treat your hair

Use a hair mask, oil or leave-in conditioner once or twice a week to keep your locks soft, strong and shining. Restorative moisture treatments are perfect for the lead-up to a spell in the sun and indulging in a mask while you’re away and straight after you get home can’t hurt either.

Sometimes, it's easy to forget how many things we need to carry with us on a daily basis. While the contents of every woman's bag is different there are a few handbag essentials that every woman should keep stashed away.

We looked to our Editors for a few tips on the things no woman should be without, and found out what they carry on a daily basis...

Sunnies

Keep a pair of  sunnies in your tote and you’ll always look chic. Plus, if you’re having a bad day or the sun’s shining, it’s a bonus if you can keep your eyes protected while looking ultra cool.

Concealer

Late night? Headed to the bar after work? Long day at the office? A good quality concealer is the miracle-worker for the woman on the go.

Signature lipstick

Your go-to shade says a lot about you and a quick slick of lipstick is always guaranteed to take your look to the next level. Carry your signature lip product in your bag so you can always refresh, whatever the occasion.

Wallet

Even though you can pay for most things on the go with your smartphone, keep a luxe wallet with some cash, a few cards and an ID in your handbag at all times. You never know when you'll get carded after all.

Bleach blonde hair looks amazing but it's also a lot of hard work. Unless you want your ends to split, your lengths to be frizzy and dry or your color turning yellow, you need to follow a few rules for healthy-looking hair.  We looked to our panel of beauty experts to find out the best ways to look after blonde hair and how to repair it too.

Here's how to care for your bleach blonde hair...

No rush

You can't rush the process of going bottle blonde. If you have dark hair especially previously dyed hair you’ll need to take your time and gradually work towards a lighter shade. At least three to four appointments are needed to reach your blonde hair goals. Don’t go all in or you’ll end up damaging your hair and definitely won’t achieve your desired shade.

Perfect salon

Do your research, consult Instagram, ask friends and be sure of the best way to fulfil your blonde ambition. Take a thorough look at the previous work of stylists and salons you like. Then  be prepared to drop some serious cash to know you’re getting the best for your hair.

No DIY

At least not the first time. Home bleaching can be extremely damaging to the hair if overused or if you've never done it before. At least speak to a colorist for a consultation before attempting it.

Proper haircare products

There's no easy way to lighten your hair because bleaching damages the hair, plain and simple. But you can lessen the damage by ensuring you're using the right products. Use a selection of moisturizing products to strengthen the bonds within the hair and prevent breakage or damage.

Ready to try a bleach blonde look this summer? Before you make your hair appointment make sure you stock up on the essentials from our edit below...
