Indoor Plants are the new home trend everybody is crazy about, but many people don’t know that they have a ton of benefits aside from looking great. So, if you needed a few extra reasons to decorate your home with plants, read-on and you’ll find out why it’s definitely a good idea.

Plants help with breathing
Plants absorb carbone dioxide and release oxygen, the opposite of what humans do when breathing, making them great partners. But it’s important to remember that this process reverses at night, when plants absorbe oxygen and release carbon dioxide. So, unless you go for orchids, succulents or epiphytic bromeliads which never release any carbon dioxide, keep them in your living room and away from your bedroom.

They Purify the Air
Plants remove toxins from the air. In fact, according to NASA research, they can get rid of up to 87% of volatile organic compounds every day.

They Release Moisture
Plants naturally release moisture which increases the humidity of the air around them. This has been shown to decrease dry skin among other things, meaning you can finally cut down on moisturiser.

They Improve Health
Many studies have shown that plants help sick patients heal faster, but also decrease fatigue, colds, headaches, coughs, sore throats and flu-like symptoms. So now you finally know why bringing plants to ill people is such a thing.

They Sharpen Focus
Studies have shown that having plants indoors makes you more attentive and increases memory retention by up to 20 percent. So if you’re looking to increase your productivity, all you need to do is buy yourself a plant!!

Now if that doesn’t convince you…

Spring is just around the corner, and we are ready to give a fresh new feel to our homes.

This season, we’re talking minimalist and colourful decor.

When it comes to decorations, less is more so the first step is to get rid of all the little unnecessary objects lying around everywhere. Say goodbye to of all the magazines, keys, old photos and ugly presents you got over a year ago… And once you’re done, carefully select a few items you really like like a nice lamp, or a candle.

Spring is also the perfect time to take full advantage of the natural lighting by adding some bright colours to your home as they will really stand out.

The trick is to add just a few touches of brightness and if you’re only going to change one thing, start with the sofa, as it’s the centrepiece of any living room. We recommend going for a bold coloured sofa which will truly add personality to your house, but you can also opt for a more neutral couch with eccentric pillows.

Another great way to bring some colour into your home is of course by adding plants. Flowers or cactuses, real or fake… anything works! And they will add a fresh spring feel that you really can’t get any other way.

Ah the joys of sleeping in, eating two lunches a day, watching festive, childhood movies in your PJs - all disappear when you realise tomorrow you start work again!

As you begrudgingly set your alarm to way too early, you feel a familiar sense of dread sweeping through your body.

No matter how much how much you love your job, the prospect of going back to work after the Christmas and New Year break can leave you feeling deflated and secretly wishing you could fake a sudden illness for just one more day of doing nothing at home.

But, go to work we must, so we’ve come up with five tips to help you get through your first week of work back from the holidays:

1. Bring the holiday spirit into work: Try to keep the festive feeling going by engaging with your colleagues about the fun things you got up to during the holiday season. Bring in some gingerbread biscuits or a fun Christmas present you can share to help lift everyone’s mood.

2. Spring clean your desk: Give yourself a fresh start by doing a quick spring clean of your desk or workspace. In the hurry to leave before the Christmas break, you’ve probably left behind quite a messy desk. Get rid of the clutter, any irrelevant post-its and put away your Christmas cards and decorations.

3. Have lunch with a colleague: Break up your day by getting out of the office during the brightest time of the day with someone you enjoy spending time with. Spending one-on-one time with your closest colleague and making sure you get plenty to eat can help ensure you’re reenergised for the second half of your day.

4. Don’t worry about productivity: Unless you have urgent deadlines on your first day back, it’s completely acceptable if you spend Monday morning clearing out your inbox, creating new To-Do lists and taking a few extra minutes to catch up with a colleague. The first day back is always slow-going, and the rest of your colleagues are probably going to be in the same boat, so don’t worry too much if you aren’t being ultra-productive.

5. Plan something for the weekend: Give yourself something to look forward to on Friday night or over the weekend. Whether your plans include your colleagues or the friends you didn’t get a chance to see over the holiday period, planning a fun night out - or just a trip to the cinema - can help you get through the week.

If you’re hosting the dinner party for New Years Eve this year, this is the post for you!

We’ve compiled six tips that should help you figure out how to host your dinner party without all the stress and anxiety that hosting (or hostessing) can bring.

From creating menus to decorating your home, it helps to plan ahead if you’re aiming to host a dinner party your lucky guests will remember.

Our six top tips for hosting the perfect dinner party with minimal stress are:

1. Plan ahead: Do as much as you can beforehand, including buying and putting up decorations (read: home decor items), creating a menu, creating place cards if you have a big party arriving, and making as many dishes in advance as possible.

2. Create your menu: Make sure you’ve asked your guests if they have any dietary requirements/restrictions. When it comes to creating your menu, it’s best to stick with what you know or are reasonably confident you can make. To make it easier to choose dishes, pick a theme such as Italian or Mexican food.

3. Pick background music: If you know your guests’ tastes, try to tailor your music playlist to reflect this. If all else fails, opt for something instrumental and keep it at a low volume.

4. Stock up on essentials: Things like party snacks, napkins, drinks and ice can all run out quicker than you might expect. To avoid having to duck out in the middle of your dinner party, make sure your cupboard is well-stocked with these essentials.

5. Create a table centrepiece: A table centrepiece can really make your dinner party feel special. Candles and vases are great options that don’t take up much space. If your table is on the small side, choosing a pretty runner can be enough for that special touch.

6. Relax: Don’t let serving or making food take up all your time. Plan your cooking and serving so that you have the time to sit down and enjoy the meal with your guests. When the meal is over, spend time mingling with your guests (rather than worrying about topping up everyone’s drinks or stopping your guests from experimenting with your playlist).

If you’re hosting Christmas this year and wondering how you can pull it off, this is the post for you. Our tips below are designed to help you save time, reduce stress and become more organised so you can be the quintessential host.

1. Make a checklist of everything you need to do, so you can stay organised.

2. Plan ahead. Do as much as you can ahead of time, including buying decorations, making party favours, ordering your turkey, and pre-cooking as many sides as possible.

3. Make a list of guests and ensure there are enough chairs, cutlery and party favours for them.

4. Create a simple menu. Doing this in advance helps keep you organised so you don’t forget any important ingredients or side dishes. Make sure to check with your guests for any food allergies or restrictions. Try to choose desserts that can be made the night before.

5. Stock up on essentials (excluding fresh food) such as candles, napkins and drinks, as well as party treats and snacks.

6. Consider setting up a self-serve area for drinks. Provide a variety of options for your guests so they can mix and match to their tastes.

7. Divide up chores so everyone in the household has something to contribute. Getting everyone involved should make the experience more fun for everyone, and it frees up your time for other tasks.

On the day:
1. Mingle: Make sure each guest is made to feel welcome by spending at least few minutes talking to them.

2. Food: Let the guests know what they’re eating, and make sure each guest has enough food before tucking into yours.

3. Relax: Once the food is served, try to remember to relax so you can enjoy the time with your friends and family.
