This time of the year is perfect for all of those endless afternoons of hibernating. This is a difficult task if our homes are messy or don't reflect our personal taste. After you read our post on the Mari Kondo way of tidying up, think about purchasing a few items to revamp your space! Sure we might live in small flats but aesthetic shouldn't be influenced by that. Take the fashion influencers for example, as they pose for their individual ootds, they give us glimpses of a home decor that perfectly defines their style. So how can you quickly elevate your flat you ask without breaking the bank?

Here are a few items you'll need:

The Rug
Opt for a cool snuggle-friendly rug you can throw to the floor. It will give your room a sense of your style and much-needed character. Plus it's the perfect alternative to a carpet that can quickly get dirty and weary.

A Marble Table
Oh yes, that fabulous material has been the perfect sidekick to any influencer flat lay shot that appeared in 2017. Apart from your Insta snapshots though, the table is practical and looks amazing IRL.

The Throw
Remember when you used to hang paintings and posters on the wall? How drab. Go for a colourful throw instead for an artsy taste of hygge to your space.

Flower Power
Scratch that posters will do. True magic lies in fresh flowers. Just ask Pandora Sykes and Leandra Medine.

Sheets
Go for a blush pink or violet shade to bring femininity and relaxation to your bedroom.

The Full Mirror
Well, how would you take those morning ootd's without that mirror? Opt for the squiggle one for that extra character.

French restaurant, Le Gavroche, has not adapted its decor since opening 50 years ago. Whilst one would assume its interiors to have become dated they present what can only be described as an 'Instagrammable' bathroom. The antique hand mirrors adorning the wall evoke a fairytale feel. Pretty and quaint and an air of French vintage. Image: Vogue

So part of resolution month is not only deciding to give up on a bad habit, toxic people, change careers or simply hit the gym. Sometimes you want to start with the simple things that will give you an instant mood lift. So what's a better way to welcome the New Year than by updating your surroundings? We have rounded up the best hacks you can use this year to make your home a wonderful living space.

LIGHTING

We don't say this enough but you may be surprised at what a little lighting can do to set the mood. Opt for a big chandelier-like lighting at the centre of a big room and use small decorative pieces to give a bit of character to a cute corner on top of your bookshelf or your reading table for example.

BEDDING

A good night's sleep will make a huge difference to your lifestyle, so why not invest in a quality bed and mattress to pursue it. This year it's all about being grounded so the trend is to go for a low bed frame that is closer to the floor - in line with a down-to-earth attitude to get you through the New Year.

BATHROOM

If you want to truly give your bathroom a makeover you can do it simply by changing the little things such a the shower curtain, the towels, a nice frame and the glass where you keep your toothbrush. This year go for the bold and sophisticated ultra violet colour which is the Pantone colour of the year - that will match amazingly with any bathroom decor.

DINING

In the name of affordable makeovers, we suggest that you go for affordable china, glasses and placemats in order to give character to your dining table. You don't have to go all out on a new dining table when you can update it by throwing a great tablecloth over it. While you're in the dining room why not invest in a pair of cool speakers and truly set the mood.

With Christmas fast approaching we want to make sure we completely immerse in pure holiday spirit. That admittedly means more than your typical Christmas decorations! This season is after all about coming together, about community, sharing, and spending quality time with family and friends. It's also a great time for a guest room makeover. Especially when leaving abroad this is the time when family tends to visit and it's almost definite that you'd like to impress them.

This year we suggest you take the time to truly invest strategically in a few purchases that will make your home instantly Christmas guest ready!

One of the most common pre-holiday purchases are the dining sets and holiday-specific china that will make your hard-prepped meals  look even more delicious.

Invest in lighting. Think of a 'wow' lighting piece such as a #ff0000">chandelier or a #ff0000">floor lamp that can easily give character and ambiance to your flat but is also very practical.

If you don't already own a guest bed you should invest in a proper #ff0000">sofa bed that can accommodate all of your guests.

Finally, if you don't have the budget to invest in expensive items than it's worthwhile splurging on a few decorative pieces such as #ff0000">plates, flatware and #ff0000">glassware. Go the extra mile and add an impressive center piece and stylish placemats! Voila! Your Christmas home makeover is done.

Stockholm home of designer Amelia Widell, featured on #ELLEDecoration has my heart fluttering. The pastel, sorbet shades are calming but alive and sophisticated. I aspire to have a wall clad in this many frames. There is something about the treasure trove of books and photos that should look cluttered but instead gives the whole room personality. The summer has finally arrived and we’re dying to redecorate our homes with a purpose instead of living in a space populated with unrelated items that we inherited from our parents…

The first rule when redecorating is to stick to a theme, and this season it’s all about the bohemian aesthetic. We’ve seen the trend in every blogger’s home and we want the same for ours!

But creating a bohemian vibe is trickier that it looks. It’s easy to add too many objects and before you know it your home might end up looking like a complete mess.

That’s why it’s key to a find a few carefully selected items that all follow the same line of thought. Our personal tip is to go for whites with a couple green/blueish shades. Add in a few plants, and it’ll give your home a fresh look perfect for the summer! And combined with a little bit of the signature bohemian gold, you’ll have the house of your dreams in no time.

Luckily, Made.com has just released incredible sales on just those kind of items! From a teal velvet sofa to palm tree embroided cushions and paint-splattered plant pots, you’ll find everything you need at the best prices.

If you’ve been letting your lazy habits take the better of you and feel like your home needs a bit of a makeover, we have a few simple tips that’ll instantly make your house look much better. You know, so instead of feeling like you’re living in a shared student accommodation with 13 roommates, you’ll actually be willing to invite your parents over for dinner…

The first thing you should do is take down your old posters messily taped up on the walls. Instead, carefully select a few of your favorites and frame them properly, you’ll instantly see the difference.

Then, you need to get rid of all the little things you have lying around. Consider leaving out a pretty closed box to pop your keys and spare change into but everything else should be put away where it belongs. And for some things, that means in the trash… After all, do you really need to keep your second cousin’s Christmas photo forever?

Once everything is neatly stored away, you’ll finally have some space for a few well picked out items. A nice candle is always a good idea or you can also go for a coffee table book if you’re feeling fancy! Plants are also great to add a touch of color and character to your home. We recommend getting a cactus as it’s super trendy and requires basically no upkeep…

Now moving on to the kitchen, wave goodbye to all the messy cereal boxes that never really fit inside your cupboard anyway, and put everything into food containers. It looks more tidy and frees up a ton of space. If you’re unsure which ones to go for, consider mason jars as they give a cool retro vibe and look just as good outside the cupboard as they do inside!

Another essential is getting matching plates and silverware. Nothing says adult like identical plates for the entire table, and the same goes for your bed sheets and towels. And remember, if you’re ever unsure what print or colour to go for, always choose the most simple option.

Finally, a soap dispenser and a hand towel are the ultimate items to complete your grown up home. So much better than your supermarket handwash and the toilet paper towels that you usually dry your hands with…

Now scroll down to shop our selection of items that’ll instantly take your home to the next level…
