Having great style doesn’t necessarily mean you should be decked out head to toe in labels. In fact, women with great style rarely opt for conspicuous logos. Mixing high street and designer is an art and so is knowing when to splurge and when to save.

Looking amazing doesn’t cost the earth and our Editors are big fans of affordable brands, especially when they roll out a decent designer dupe or two. We asked them for their tips on how to elevate an outfit, the best designer pieces to invest in and how they make their line-ups look that little bit more polished…

Never underestimate the power of accessories

Can’t afford a designer handbag but can justify that silk scarf? Let’s not forget bag charms and clip-on shoulder straps by the likes of Coach, Fendi, Valentino and Prada. Maximalise your tote’s power to shine with a few high-end additions here and there.

The same goes for your outfit. Tie that silk scarf around your neck, rock a Chanel brooch on your high-street denim jacket and rock expensive jewellery with every look. Jewellery is one of the things worth investing in – you’ll never grow out of it and higher quality pieces will last forever. Plus, most styles are timeless.

Sunglasses are your best friend when trying to achieve that super-polished look and most frames look pretty high-end whether they’re marked with a logo or not.

Do look for convincing designer dupes

From Mango to Zara and even online exclusive brands like Chi Chi, a ton of affordable labels offer great designer dupes. So, if you can’t splash out on runway-fresh styles, rest assured you’ll be able to find a convincing imitation that suits your budget.

We love floral maxi dresses for summer days, chunky buckle belts for off duty, guipure lace for all our big events and cool boxy and boho bags; there are so to choose from this season and all at a pretty reasonable price point.

Buy clothes that fit – tailoring is everything

The most important thing to remember when trying to look chic is that you should be wearing your clothes, they shouldn’t be wearing you. The cut of an outfit makes all the difference so invest in pieces that fit you perfectly and get the ones you really care about tailored. Every woman should have at least one well-fitting jacket, dress and pair of trousers in her line-up.

The silhouette that feels most current and wearable has a slightly high cut at the waist and narrow along the leg . Several brands are selling real vintage jeans, while others are creating new styles inspired by this old shoe. Credits: Pinterest.

Dakota Johnson belongs to Hollywood royalty but made her own name, starring in Fifty Shades of Grey and later becoming a Gucci muse. Now the actress is set to star in the much-anticipated adaptation of the horror film Suspiria. She'll be heading up the cast of the 1977 classic alongside Chloe Grace Moretz, Mia Goth and an unrecognizable Tilda Swinton. The Fifty Shades of Grey star is known for her role choices as well as her understated style.

For red carpet she opts for long silhouettes, like the white Proenza Schouler number she rocked at a screening of Call Me By Your Name, in New York. Usually you'll find her in Gucci, whether it's the Met Gala, Fashion Week or the Oscars, where she donned a show-stopping gold gown…

For her off-duty looks you'll find her sporting a simple pair of denim cut-offs with a plain shirt, or slogan tee,  a fedora hat, sunnies and an indie scarf. Her hack for remaining chic at all times is adding designer accessories such as an oversized Gucci tote, a velvet duster coat and Gucci brogues.

Getting a pixie cut can be very scary at first, but take it from us, once you go for a shorter hairstyle you’ll never want to go back. It's a hassle-free way to look elegant at all times, and it's been an integral style element of icons like Audrey Hepburn and Twiggy. This is the perfect hairstyle to rock whether you have blonde, red, brunette even rainbow-toned hair and it will make your cheekbones pop while adding definition to your face.

How to decide whether to get a pixie cut...

Pixie cuts come in all shapes and sizes; from Katy Perry's fringed version, to Scarlett Johansson's quiff or Zoe Kravitz's side-sweeping look.

If you have a round face, show off your features with a sleeker pixie crop like Michelle Williams' platinum blonde do. All you need is a simple cat eye and a bold lip and you're party-ready.

For a square face shape go for Coco Rocha's quiff to offset your jaw and cheekbones. Mess with the front by adding a little product and go simple or bold depending on your mood.

If you've more of a heart-shaped face, you'll need a pixie cut with a few layers to complement your face. Take Kate Hudson’s ultra-short hairstyle for inspiration.

Are you bold enough to try the pixie cut this summer?

Finally, the wait is over. After months of excitement, this Saturday May 19, the most talked about couple of the year will tie the knot at St George's Chapel in the grounds of Windsor Castle. As far as we know, they've chosen a carriage and arranged luxurious catering for 600 guests including Sir Elton John and the Spice Girls. Meghan Markle will have no adult bridesmaids as she's unable to choose between her friends and will instead be surrounded page boys, bridesmaids and flower girls.

However, just like the rest of the world, what the team at SHOPCADE is mostly excited about is the dress. All bets are off when it comes to the designer though Ralph & Russo and Erdem are among the rumoured but whoever it is, the designer will go down in history.

Our Editors have a few ideas for the perfect royal wedding guest outfit, so you can join in on the fun, even if your invite got lost in the mail.

A polka dot dress would definitely make the cut, it's classic and elegant. Pair it with strappy heels and a simple clutch for a play-it-safe look. Next up, an edgier look with flats and a long-sleeved silk dress. And finally, a statement look by way of a Victorian-inspired ruffled top with flattering pants and mules. Chic and royal-wedding ready.

We're always excited to discover  the tiny details set to make this season stand out from the last. This summer the fash pack has agreed in absentia on a mini detail that’s perfect for channeling the carefree spirit of summer.

Smocking is a technique that gathers fabric giving it the ability to stretch and is absolutely dominating our feed now. If you haven't already started shopping for summer essentials, you'll soon discover it on tops, dresses and bikinis. This detail is what makes an outfit 2018-ready and oh-so-summery.

If you don't believe us just take a look at the queen of summer dressing, Emily Ratajkowski sporting an array of smocked styles. We fell in love with Ganni’s selection of printed pieces bandeau tops and denim cut-offs looks.

As for swimwear, you can't go wrong with the offering at Moda Operandi, and our Editors love Tory Burch’s latest selection of bikinis too..

Bella Thorne is known for her unique fashion sense. Despite fashion's tantrums and changes of heart Bella stays true to her niche sense of style. The actress who became popular from her roles in TV shows such as Shake it up and Famous in love, knows how to put her own touch on any outfit.

She hit  the carpet at the age of ten in 2008. Now just before her 20th birthday her style has evolved dramatically. Glitter, mesh and bold make-up are among her go-to choices when stepping out on the red carpet.

To emulate her red carpet style opt for a long dress  in burgundy with mesh detailing. Choose minimal silver jewelllery and heavy make up including a bold lip and a cat eye with thick eyelashes.

To infuse some of Bella's off-duty wisdom go for slogan tee, denim cut-offs, designers sneakers and oversized shirt.

Ready to rock some of Bella's most memorable looks? Visit our gallery for inspiration and scroll down to shop our Editors' picks below…

Spring in the UK doesn’t always equal warmth and sunshine. In fact, rainy days are pretty much a staple of the British springtime, but when has that ever stopped us from looking our best?

The only problem with unexpected spring showers is having to lug an umbrella around, or worse, go without the brolly and end up ruining that lovely new-season trench. Luckily, the SS18 runway has the solution to the UK’s weather problem.

Blending form with function, beautiful plastic macs, vinyl jackets and see-through raincoats are everywhere meaning you can rock a waterproof layer while still looking chic. Touted by Valentino, Anya Hindmarch and Chanel, a clear plastic mac with cool detailing is the perfect spring layer.

Team your see-through iteration with a bright clashing ensemble underneath, or opt for a simple off-duty look with cut-off jeans, sunnies and your favourite trainers. Alternatively, go for a brighter style to lend your wet-weather look a statement twist.

Rainy days are no reason to compromise on style so browse our edit of the best plastic macs and try this easy spring trend for yourself…

Who doesn't love a co-ord? I get very excited when it gets to summer and I can start seeking new two pieces. They are endless style fun and easy to mix and match with clothes you already have hanging up. I just love this two piece. The cut of both pieces is fab. the neck line is very flattering and a great length of crop with the high waisted trousers. I like that the trousers and flares but they aren't quite fitted. A denim jacket thrown over is all the outfit needs to be complete. Image: Getty Images

Another leopard print coat I am lusting after is this one by And Other Stories. And Other Stories tends to be just out of my price range but with key pieces that you plan on wearing over and over I find it's usually worth spending a little more. This definitely goes for a coat. Just like the Ganni this could definitely be worn with anything and everything. I really like the waist tie on this which would give it a little more structure. I also love the pockets and sharp cut collar. A great shape. Image: And Other Stories/Vogue.com

Spring doesn’t have to mean floaty boho dresses and voluminous shapes. In fact, sleek tailoring is making a big comeback for the new season in fresh spring colours and prints. As seen on Kendall Jenner, floral suits are set to be on your workwear radar from now until winter.

Perfect for the office to drinks or for cool guest looks as wedding season approaches, floral suits put a spin on traditional tailoring. Think big, bold patterns from Dolce & Gabbana or chintzy florals in vintage-inspired shapes from the likes of MSGM.

Whatever the cut, be it skinny leg, wide-leg, with a cropped jacket or an oversized blazer, the trend – excuse the pun – suits everyone.
