We’ve all been guilty of letting our hair dry out on holiday, returning home with a salty, sun-bleached mane of tangles and wondering why we let things slide…

Looking like a bonafide beach babe doesn’t mean your hair should suffer so add these five hacks to your vacay beauty routine and thank us later.

Brush it out

Invest in a wide-toothed brush or comb to tease those tangles out and remember to be gentle. A spritz of detangler or UV heat protection spray can help with knotty hair but beware of brushing when wet and avoid slathering in conditioner before you brush as hair is more elastic in this state and prone to breakage.

Start at the root

It’s just as important to care for your scalp so before you start treating your hair, exfoliate and moisturise the skin at the root. There are plenty of great products that soothe and moisturise the scalp which is ideal if you’re heading somewhere hot.

Don’t scrunch

Gently twist your tresses and secure them with a clip or an Invisibobble, rather than scrunching them up and tying with an elastic as this bends, breaks and weakens the hair shaft leaving you with broken ends and unruly kinks – not ideal in hot weather.

Use a silk scarf

Silk prevents breakage and doesn’t create friction so if you want to keep your hair out of your face, try wrapping it up in a soft scarf. Opt for a cool printed style and knot or tie it around your ponytail or in a turban-style twist on top of your head.

Treat your hair

Use a hair mask, oil or leave-in conditioner once or twice a week to keep your locks soft, strong and shining. Restorative moisture treatments are perfect for the lead-up to a spell in the sun and indulging in a mask while you’re away and straight after you get home can’t hurt either.

Who doesn't love big hair?! We don't know about you, but we're all about that volume.

But we know that the monsoon and heat can get you down, so here are our best tips to get your hair fluffy and gorgeous!

Make sure it's clean
This one's a no-brainer—oily hair will always look weighed down and limp. Use a volumising shampoo and conditoner This is the first step in your haircare routine towards getting a fluffy mane!

Use a sea salt texturising spray
These sprays are a great way to add texture and volume to freshly washed hair. Simply spritz it into your damp hair, and style as usual.

Day 3 hair? Use baby powder or dry shampoo
Sometimes (more than just "sometimes", actually...we know how it is!), you're on day 3 after having washed your hair, which means your hair probably doesn't want to cooperate when you want to get it voluminous. Use dry shampoo or baby powder to soak up those extra oils as a temporary fix. Don't use too much product While there are amazing products out there (like the ones we mentioned above) that can help you get a voluminous mane, the key is to not use too much. Otherwise, your efforts will prove counterproductive, as the excess product will weight your hair down.

Back-comb/tease your hair
Simply take locks of hair, and comb them backwards with a fine-toothed comb. Instant volume!

Bad hair days are pretty much a part and parcel of life—try as we might, we can't avoid them completely.

However, that doesn't mean you have to suffer! There are definitely ways to battle a bad hair day and come out on top, and we're here to share some of them with you today.

Dry shampoo
This is by far the most popular method to cope with a bad hair day nowadays, and with good reason. Dry shampoo absorbs excess oils and adds a burst of volume in a jiffy.

Sea salt spray
If your hair has a tendency to fall flat, keep a sea salt spray handy. It can give your hair an instant boost of volume when needed.

Do a hair mask
If your problem is dry hair that needs conditioning, do a hair mask/hair spa treatment. It'll help a whole lot!

Slick braid
If your hair is oily, comb it back, tie a tight braid, finish it with some glossing spray, and contour the heck out of your face. Voila, you've got yourself a runway-esque look!

Messy bun
A simple messy bun is a chic, easy way to hide the fact that you're having a bad hair day.

A hat/scarf
When all else fails, just cover up! Simply pop on a hat, or style a scarf into a cute turban or headband.

Curly locks get you a tonne of compliments—every single day! But do you even realise how high maintenance they are? We tell you how to tame that fluffy mane so you can spend all your free time batting your lashes and looking pretty.

Change your comb, pronto!
If you’re still using a regular comb over the wide-tooth one, then you need to make some changes pronto! Not only do the regular combs open up your curls, but also allow strands to separate, tangle and form into a frizz that absolutely nobody in this world is a fan of.

Deep condition before shower
Ever wondered how RiRi maintains her mane? Well, our best guess is she conditions, conditions and conditions! Apply a generous amount of conditioner to your hair and put on a shower cap and head into the shower. The steam from the cap will help retain moisture in your hair.

Choose your shampoo wisely
It is no rocket science that using any shampoo can damage your curly hair; instead, choose a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner and by mixing a generous amount of both, you could create your own cleansing conditioner. Gently washing your hair with the mixture can help deep moisturize both your scalp and roots.

T-shirts for towels
Who knew your old cotton t-shirts could come to your hair-rescue? After shower, wring out the water from your hair with a cotton t-shirt instead of a towel. Towels are known to absorb too much moisture which causes frizz and can easily become your worst nightmare.

Rubber bands are your best friend post shower
Unlike straight hair, it’s wise to tie your hair up in a bun when semi dry to define your curls and eliminate frizz. Gravity can cause curls to elongate while still wet and cause a bushy mane which you’re going to have to spend hours fixing.

Leave-in conditioners + water + spraying bottle = gorgeous curls anywhere
Have an important meeting but hair is a fluffy mess? Carry a spray bottle with half water and half leave-in conditioner which would act as an instant diluted water spray for your hair. Spray a few times, use fingers to style your hair and you’re ready for that meeting.

Seen Kim K rocking the chic, sleek ponytail on the red carpet, and wanted to rock it too?

Shopcade is here to help! All you need in order to perfect this look is a comb, a toothbrush (yes, this is essential for taming flyaways!), some hair gel, and a hair-tie. Simply part your hair down the centre, tie it into as tight and neat a ponytail you can (keep the ponytail low), and then use hair gel on a toothbrush to smooth down the short, flyaway hair on the front to get that super sleek look.

Sported by celebs such as Beyoncé and Gigi Hadid, the wet hair look is a grungy, edgy look that gives the perpetual impression of having just stepped out of the shower.

The key to pulling off this hair trend is by starting with damp hair that’s lightly towel dried. From there, use a styling prep spray to tame your locks, then work a wet-look hair gel evenly throughout your hair.

Style as desired - you can scrunch up your hair for a damp, tousled look, pull it back into a bun and rake your fingers through your hair to separate your strands, comb it smooth and tie into a low chignon, or put your hair into a multi-strand braid.

Once you’ve finished your styling, use a strong-hold hairspray to keep everything in place and add a shine spray to maintain the ‘wet’ look all day long.

French plaits are one of the basic braids that make a big impact when done well. Master the technique and show off your new hairstyle with our step-by-step tutorial:

1. Comb through the hair to get rid of any knots or tangles.

2. Pick up a section of hair at the top of your head and divide into three sections.

3. Take the left section over the centre, then take the right section over the centre in a basic braid. Hold the braid tightly.

4. Holding the braid tightly, take a section of hair from the very front of your head and add to the right section. Make sure this section is right next to the braid.

5. Do the same thing to the left section - add a section of hair from right next to the braid, from the very front of your head. Make sure the sections you add are roughly equal to each other.

6. Once you’ve added hair to each of the sections, bring the left section over the centre, then take the right section over the centre.

7. Again, take a section of hair from next to the braid and add to the right section, and then to the left section. Braid as in step 5 and continue until all your hair has been incorporated into the braid. Remember to hold tight on to the braid as you go along.

8. Once all the hair has been incorporated into the braid, you should have reached the nape of your neck. Do a basic three-strand plait all the way along the length of your hair and secure tightly with a small hair band.

9. Optional: Finish off with hairspray to set your hair, and smooth down the hair to secure any flyaways.

Top tip #1: It’s best to try this plait on second-day hair, when your hair is greasier, less slippery and therefore easier to braid.

Top tip #2: For a messy braid perfect for an off-duty look, gently tease out some of the braids starting from the top of your head.

Gigi Hadid gave many a heart attack as she descended on the red carpet at the AMAs on Sunday night but for those who didn't scream "Your beautiful hair! Oh, Gigi how could you? Your one beauty," we're here to show you how she faked her bob!

Being coy about her new 'do to anyone who asked if she'd gone for the chop, Gigi told E! maven Giuliana Rancic they'd have to "check back tomorrow" to see if her short hair was real.

The star's hair stylist Bryce Scarlett later confirmed that a half wig with a zigzag comb was used to create Gigi's fake bob look.

Leaving the front of the hair untouched (Gigi's natural hairline is on show), Scarlett says: "The technique we used only works if you have shorter layers that are the length you want the hairpiece to match."

With LFW done and dusted until February, we've been stoked to have had the chance to see the shows and more importantly, suss out just what's hot for Spring/Summer next year!

With so many hot hair looks in the upcoming season, scroll through our gallery to see what we've listed as some of the coolest - and ok, maybe somewhat bizarre/interesting- hairstyles on the runways.

Sleek dead straight locks with a double parting, twisted buns and a half head of plaited hair with a tousled salt spray textured look are IN!

To create a double parting, keep a steady hand to ensure a precise, neat look. Comb wet hair backwards and place the comb where you'd like each parting to appear. Then plait the hair between each parting to re-create the double parting runway look of SS16!

PS: For Ryan Lo's carb heavy hairstyle, we recommend you purchase the tasty doughy treat in Chinatown; preferably in the morning on the way to work.
