A quick glance at a recent streetstyle album will provide all the evidence you need that the beret has replaced the beanie as the fash pack’s go-to hat. Pushed forward to cover the hair line, back to frame a fringe or placed jauntily at an angle, you can wear it any way you want and it still manages to look oh-so French cool. Blame Dior for starting the trend with leather berets because brands and designers have taken the hat shape and really run with it- crafting them in all sorts of wonderful shades and textures. Wool, sequins, velvet- you name it, there’s probably a beret made in it. And it’s also become an unlikely site for empowering slogans that definitely won’t be obscured by a winter coat. Add in the fact that it’s cold and you want to keep your head warm, there’s no reason not to rock one.

Well, only if they fit your head properly. A too-tight beret is not a good look for anyone but you don’t want them to be too baggy either because the effect is less chic outfit accent and more sloppy. Having the kind of hair that will retain the beret hat shape for hours after wear or a forehead that indents easily are other potential deterrents. Keeping the beret on at all times in public (inside and outside) could overcome them or equal sweaty/greasy-looking hair; and how insulating or waterproof is a sequin or net-like style exactly? Not very. Some berets are simply worn for decoration.

Photographed on the streets of Milan by Sandra Semburg. Sandra is a fashion and portrait photographer based between Berlin and Paris. She travels twice a year to London, Paris, New York and Milan as part of her 'street style' looks. This orange coat is a vibrant look, guaranteed to catch the eye.

Alexander Wang shocked everyone at New York Fashion Week with his Fall 2016 runway and ready-to-wear collection - and you'll never guess why! Wang's AW16 collection turned into a 90's rage party inside Saint Bartholemew's Church in NYC.

From the show's notes, AW16 collection "deliberately opposses standard defintions of beauty and taste."  Wang turned typical fashion rules on their heads at his show, presenting a daring collection filled with mesh, chokers, pot-leaves, and boxy skirt suits. What??? Peek through his new pieces. Are you brave enough to wear them?

If you’re going to London Fashion Week this year and want to draw attention for all the right reasons, this is the post for you!

Below are our tips and tricks to get noticed at LFW - whether your aiming to be featured in a fashion blog or maybe even get noticed by a fashion house!

Stay on trend
Do some research beforehand to find out what the season’s trends are, and try to emulate this look in your outfit. Think about every aspect of your outfit including coat, handbag, shoes and even gloves.

Embrace London weather
It’s likely to be cold in February, so make the most of having to wear a jacket by investing in a stunning piece that ties your entire outfit together. Once you’re there, make like Kim-K and wear your jacket draped over your shoulders for that extra touch.

Accessorise
Unusual accessories are always a talking point, and a pristine watch, bracelet, earrings, ring or necklace can really make your outfit pop.

Tights, stockings and socks
Whatever the rest of your outfit is doing, a pair of statement tights, stockings or socks are guaranteed to get you noticed by a fashion blogger at LFW.

Headwear
As well as making sure your hairstyle is pristine, an interesting hat can set you apart from the rest of the fashion crowd. Whether you opt for a beret, bowler hat or beanie, a hat can also come in useful if it rains.
