Blush pink – also lovingly referred to as ‘millenial pink’ – is still dominating the world of style and interiors. In fact, since Rose Quartz was named Pantone’s Color of the Year back in 2016, the pale pink boom has almost gotten out of control…

We looked to our panel of interiors experts for a few tips on how to work the trend in your home. After all, pink is a bold tone and you want your space to be looking more Palm Springs chic than Barbie Dream House.

Accent tones

Mixing pink tones with other neutral colors like white and gray is a great way to give a room depth and lend it a little warmth. Try two different shades of pale pink for your doors or the back of your shelves to offset your primary wall color.

Statement pink

A statement piece like a pink couch or armchair is a great way to incorporate dusty rose tones. Think big and opt for a large rug or statement drapes. Just be sure to contrast the rest of your furniture for a chic color clash.

Accessories

You’d be surprised at just how easy it is to infuse a space with a new tone by using simple accessories. Update your artwork, linen, flatware and ornaments like ceramics and candles to include hints of pink in pale dreamy shades. Pink flowers in a vase always works wonders for any room in the house too.

The most famous doll in the world already has a new makeup. Barbie has to evolve, just like fashions do. A perfect combination to launch a new makeup case that will give much to talk about. Credits: Pinterest

Even though Pantone's 2017 color of choice was " Greenery", a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade symbolising new beginnings the truth of the matter is, the year felt like it was dedicated to millenial pink. Actually there's never been a year so chromatically in sync with Elle Woods wardrobe - Ever.

But, as all Barbie things come to an end, Pantone's 2018 Color of the Year will be "Ultra Violet, a "spiritual, cosmic" purple that "communicates originality ingenuity and visionary thinking that point us toward the future".

As predicted this already caused a riot with Ultra Violet’s relative hue Lilac causing a major craze. The fresh pastel shade was everywhere all over  the SS18  shows, from Victoria Beckham and Tibi at New York Fashion Week, before heading over to Emporio Armani at London Fashion Week and Céline in Paris.

So how do you wear the ice cream shade with confidence? This season it’s all about keeping it paired back with clean lines. Try it on a sharp boutique pantsuit, a see-through blouse and a simple slip dress. The head-to-toe look is very bold so if you feel a bit unsure opt for a few accessories here and there like strappy sandals, a statement bag or sunnies.

Are you ready to immerse yourself in head-to-toe Ultra Violet? Scroll down below and shop your favourite styles from our edit!

Ready for tonight in my little black dress #asos #lbdThe final Balenciaga look I'm sharing this week is this pink getup. The concertina skirt has been a staple through this winter and I'm happy to see that it won't be going anywhere soon. Balenciaga style in with Barbie pink boots which I'm surprised work against the hot, metallic pink. The chunky belt and cropped jumper make it much more 'ready to wear' and this is definitely a style that you can emulate with high street fashion. Image: Vogue

This look is just so cool! The Barbie theme has been given a much needed uplift courtesy of Missguided. The new collaboration with the toy brand has just gone live on the website - not gonna lie, I am so tempted to pick up this denim jacket from the range! ‘Life in plastic, it’s fantastic” sang Aqua in the Nineties hit ‘Barbie Girl’ but we’d definitely disagree now that some horrifying evidence and stats have come to more prominent light. A recent Refinery 29 article revealed that plastic takes at least 450 years to break down after reaching the sea: even if it’s ground down into tiny pieces. That means ecosystems are affected as wildlife eat and/or get stuck in it and the food chain too because fish and salt can contain plastic traces as well. Just let that sink in for a moment and consider the fact that almost everything is packaged in or made more durable using plastic- food, beauty products, clothes… You can’t say the environmentalists didn’t warn us.

If you’re wondering how you can reduce your plastic consumption, you’re already doing it. The 5p charge for plastic bags in the UK that you probably curse when you forget your canvas bag at home has already seen a 83% drop in usage since 2015. And plastic microbeads formerly found in cosmetics are banned. Iceland became the world's first supermarket to ban plastic packaging this week. Next up is a possible ‘latte levy’: a 25p charge on single use coffee cups which are apparently plastic-lined and therefore not biodegradable. Pret’s offering a 50p discount if you bring your own cup for your morning hot beverage and other companies have followed suit. Don’t forget about plastic water bottles either, and soon the straw in your cocktail or milkshake will disappear or be paper instead of plastic as more business ban them.

To fight plastic pollution more proactively, we’ve rounded the best reusable cups, straws and bottles around right now in our edits below.

I'm loving this hot pink suit on Margot Robbie The top she has under it, it's a bit darker than the color of the suit but it creates such a fun millennial barbie vibe to the outfit. Proving that pink can be classic and chic when you want it. Photo Credit: @whowhatwear on Twitter #suit #margotrobbie #pink #fashion #trend #outfit.

I have just discovered @chanel_archives on Instagram and boy and I obsessed. The account features Chanel throughout the decades from the classic chic to the outrageously fun. How insane is this getup 'Karl Hits the Mall' from Spring/Summer 1996. I can't deal with the utter cuteness. Chanel meets Barbie. Image from their Instagram

As of late there's a new addition to the already ever growing corduroy pants trend craze. The fabric that we ‘ve mostly associated with muted earthy tones such as chocolate brown, khaki green, off white and maybe midnight blue is now getting a bold makeover. (We could even say Barbie). Celine was the first to feature floor-skimming rose coloured cords for AW17. Then the high street quickly followed. Mango released a version of pink high-waisted cords as one of their key items for 2017.

So it came as no surprise when influencers from coast to coast from Lisa Aiken to Camille Charriere and Irina Lakicevic were seen sporting them. And though we completely get the appeal of the $65 price point, Isabel Marant and Acne studios have also shown wonderfully poppy versions of the flared corduroy pants.

Ready to add them to your wardrobe? Take your pick from our exclusive edit below!
