Thursday, September 7th

Although the past few seasons seemed to have belonged to the Hadid sisters this time around it was all about Kaia Gerber's debut. The daughter of supermodel Cindy made her NYFW appearance at Calvin Klein. Raf Simons showed his second collection for Calvin Klein in front of an A-list crowd in the front row, including Lupita Nyong'o, Jake Gyllenhaal, Kate Bosworth, and Millie Bobby Brown.

Heidi Klum launched her first collection Esmara, for Lidl. Alongside her were Zac Posen, Louise Roe and Nina Garcia for the supermarket fashion line launch.

Kim Kardashian West, Andreas Kronthaler and Pamela Anderson were amongst the many A-List guests who celebrated the Vivienne Westwood x Juergen Teller exhibition opening.

Friday, September 8th

The Tory Burch SS18 show took place in an open New York space in front of a busy front row including British actresses Vanessa Kirby and Emily Blunt.

Jeremy Scott spring/summer 2018 show comprised of a greatest-hits medley as the star marks 20 years on the fashion scene.

Saturday, September 9th

Irina Shayk and Adriana Lima opened and closed the Philipp Plein show before Dita Von Teese appeared in a massive Martini glass. Live music is important to Phillip Plein so he employed Future with guest appearances by Nicki Minaj, Tiana Taylor and Snoop Dog. The braided massive locks that required 7 packets of hair per head were a concept of haid guru Tina Outen.

Eckhaus Latta's casting was heralded as "the most exciting thing to watch at NYFW now" featuring a range of bodies, sexualities, genders, diversity, and races.

Alexander Wang's, Wangfest, saw him driving around a bus in New York making 3 stops two of which were for the public—on Lafayette and Astor Place. Kaia Gerber opened the show.

Sunday, September 10th

In Jonathan Saunder's third season as the Chief Creative Officer of the DVF brand, he presented a decidedly Seventies aesthetic.

Rihanna arrived at her Fenty x Puma show on a motorbike. Later on model of the moment Adwoa Aboah walked in her show filled with heavy sportswear with a millenial take.

Monday, September 11th

Two days after their Monse show, designers Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia prepared for the Oscar de la Renta show.

The Helmut Lang SS18 show was hailed as the most anticipated of New York Fashion week as it marked the debut of designer Shayne Oliver behind the creative realms of the fashion brand.

The Carolina Herrera show was staged at the Museum of Modern Art and it was the first time that the venue allowed for a fashion presentation.

Fashion week has arrived which means massive new trends on the catwalk for Spring/Summer 18  but also an array of sartorial aficionados giving us their take on the current style! We noticed already a lot of vinyl (red skirts, trench coats, boots and berets), 90's references, chic sling backs, romantic dresses juxtaposed with leather details, booties or knee length boots and many and we mean a lot of logo t-shirts. The colour palette was leaning towards pinks, bright red, mustard yellow, and black.

Apart from the usual celeb/ model off duty sightings including Kaia Gerber, Hayley Baldwin the Hadid sisters and Kendall Jenner, our attention was focused on emerging and established influencers with an enviable sense of style. Take Marta Lozano Pascual for example who did the perfect mix and match by pairing her Mango red vinyl skirt, red thigh high boots and tee ensemble with a classic Chanel Bag. We also saw an appetite for vinyl on model Caroline Daur who paired a black vinyl skirt with a red jumper and uber cool white booties (all Rebecca Minkoff). Finally Anabelle Fleur from Viva Luxury blog in an ethereal Victorian white floor-length dress in contradiction with leather accessories such as a thick black leather belt, leather beret, white leather bag and white kitten heels.

Notable street stylers include Kaia Gerber in a black jacket embellished with Pepsi badges and paraphernalia. This was clearly as a nod to carrying the torch from the Pepsi ad queen and her mother Cindy Crawford. Model Hayley Baldwin went for 90s casual in a Canadian sweater, denim shorts, black leather booties, big gold hoops, and a small red leather Supreme bag. Bella Hadid, channelled once again a late 90s outfit complete with a dragon patterned black bralette, black cargo pants, and sliders while showing off her new uber cool short bob.

Some trends grow symbiotically. Take peanut butter and jelly, Nirvana and Dr. Martens or a cinched waist and statement sleeves. Ever since the waist became defined the shoulders and arms became big, puffy and oversized to exaggerate the silhouette. The statement sleeve has taken centre stage both on the catwalk and on our Instagram feeds. Early adopters include Leandra Medine sporting Rosie Assoulin's signature oversized sleeve tops.

This season the trend expanded to the masses, from balloon to billowing and bell-shaped the impressive sleeves this year a offered in great variety to suit all tastes and arm sizes :) For an uber romantic aesthetic head over to Roksanda Ilincic who presented elegant feminine dresses embellished with aethereal bell sleeves. Ellery focused on length rather than volume while Balenciaga and Jacquemus showed exaggerated 80's puffer sleeves. Over at Gucci, Anna Sui and Simone Rocha the interpretation was dramatic balloon sleeves. Thankfully we can now find most of these styles from high street brands like Zara Topshop and Mango without breaking the bank.

Although a summer trend the statement sleeve is an absolute winner for the upcoming AW season. It can instantly lift any old boring wardrobe item by giving it depth and volume. It also is quite cleverly elongating and thus complementary for any figure. So unless you're prone to dip your sleeves into your dinner - statement sleeve tops and dresses will be one of your favourite purchases of the year!

Check out our exclusive edit of the best statement sleeve items on the market this season!

Yes, even though we try to avoid it we're officially in September. Less sunlight, chilly mornings and chillier afternoons scream for a slight change in wardrobe and potentially a few more cosy nights in. These changes include footwear, and if flip flops were the go-to shoe of choice for summer, this season it's all about the ankle boot and its many variations: Flat, heeled, leather and suede, print or plain.

FLAT

The flat ankle boot is probably the easiest way to be comfy chic. If you don't believe me just ask a few flat ankle aficionados like Alexa Chung and Sienna Miller. Follow in their footsteps and team them with midi skirts, long floral trousers or leggings.

HEELED

The autumn/winter essentials are definitely a pair of impressive, leather heeled ankle boots. They are offered in a great variety of punky buckle boots, suede Western styles, vintage lace up booties, riding styles in metallics bright bold colours like red and purple but also look out for plain black, grey, brown or white.

Check our exclusive edit of ankle boots that you need to try this season!

It's a funny feeling when our wardrobes start getting that touch of transition from summer to autumn. The colours change but still can be complementary to our sun-kissed skin. The sleeves get longer the fabrics get heavier but they can still be juxtaposed by the summery nonchalance of jeans or a pair of smart white trousers. Very few people enjoy the start of Fall and they should be multiplied. It's a time to give your body a break, move into comfier silhouettes after all the pre-holiday workout routines, the endless parties and the often exposed stomach that doesn't really allow for that second round of pasta.

Doing comfy slouchy but still active with style takes a certain mastery in the field. So for AW17 we are lusting over the new SUPERDRY campaign that combines all of the above. Uber cool, sleek style loose silhouettes and an air of laissez-faire that is still encrypted in our psyche from our summer holidays. We're crushing over anything and everything utility which means great sturdy material for those first Autumn rain falls but also khaki is one of the most complimentary shades for tanned skin. And who doesn't want to show off their tan for just a tad longer?

Opt for this great light jacket for starters and invest in a khaki parka for the winter ahead. Go for a supermini yet comfy LBD and an uber cool pink backpack for all your back to work activities.

For men, we adored the loungy hoodies, but also the long-sleeve t-shirts are perfect for an afternoon run or basket with the guys. Don't forget to pack all your essentials in the very cool and practical foldover backpack. For a casual night out the bomber jacket is a great transitional weather option that will keep you warm and stylish. As for shoes, you may want to trade your summer mocassins or sneakers for a pair of Stirling sleek boots at least to keep your feet dry. Superdry.

As we're moving closer to Labour Day there's clearly one thought on our minds the end of summer. So we want to make the most of those last summer days and warm nights.

We here at Shopcade have prepared a small travel guide with the best cities to visit for a quick weekend getaway:

Napa Valley

For your ultimate wine tasting getaway book a room near a vineyard and fully indulge yourself in what the city has to offer:  olive groves, and the Mayacamas Mountains.

Calistoga, California

Looking for a romantic getaway with your significant other? How about a secluded ranch in the middle of California offering plenty of activities outdoors and impressive wooden interiors of a classically crafted lodge.

Connecticut

If you think that romance is dead then how about going to a place where Victorian romanticism and architecture thrive? Yes, we're talking about Connecticut and its offering of 19th century fairytails in the charming seaport village of Mystic, Connecticut.

Twin Farms, Barnard, Vermont

For a truly romantic weekend of yesteryear aesthetic look no further than Vermont. There between the maple and pine trees of Barnard, lies a 18th century  farmhouse that once belonged to Nobel Prize-winning writer Sinclair Lewis. Literary getaway check!

Tennesee

To experience the true farmhouse adventure head to the Great Smoky Mountains of eastern Tennessee. You'll be surprised to find amazing farms with a few sparse bucolic hill cottages and grand, multi-bedroom homes. Fill your days  with pursuits like horseback riding, fly-fishing, and canoeing and enjoy indulgent dinners at the hotel.
