The nominees for the 89th Academy Awards are out, and it seems like the picks for Best Picture are the creme de la creme of 2016. It's certainly going to be a tough category to pick a winner from, since each film is so unique and amazing in it's own right. We found some fun facts about each of the nominated films, which makes each one even more special! So, which one are you rooting for?

Arrival: Renowned scientist and tech innovator Stephen Wolfram and his son Christopher Wolfram were consulted to ensure all terminology, graphics and depictions were sound.

Fences: When Paramount Studios originally had the film rights to the play in the 1990s, Eddie Murphy was being considered for the male lead.

Hacksaw Ridge: Director Mel Gibson wanted the war situation to be realistic because the battle for Okinawa resulted in the greatest loss of life in the South Pacific during World War II.

Hell or High Water: While shooting the film, Chris Pine got to play country and western music with his costar and music icon Jeff Bridges.

Hidden Figures: The three women in the film, Katherine Johnson, Mary Jackson and Dorothy Vaughan, helped the United States catch up in the “space race” and send John Glenn, who recently passed away at the age of 95, into orbit around Earth.

La La Land: This film has picked up 14 Oscar nominations this year, tying the record held by Hollywood legends such as Titanic and All About Eve.

Lion: Nicole Kidman filmed all her scenes in Melbourne and Hobart, Australia.

Manchester by the Sea: Critics are calling this film Casey Affleck’s “best work ever”

Moonlight: In preparation for her role, Naomie Harris watched interviews of those with addiction to crack cocaine, and met with addicted women. She related her experiences of bullying to the addicts’ attempts of escaping trauma.

While we wait to see which film snags the award this year, we thought we'd look back at the red carpet wonders of last year's Oscar awards. Scroll through our gallery above for our picks for best dressed!

It seems like every other week, there is a mass shooting in the news. Just this week, a gun-wielding man injured 9 and killed 1 person on the popular Bourbon Street in New Orleans on Sunday, while another man injured 11 people with his car and a knife on Ohio State University campus on Monday.

In fact, the Gun Violence Archive recently ran a study that showed that on average, a mass shooting occurs in the United States on 5 out of every 6 days. They defined 'mass shooting' as an incident that leaves 4 or more dead, not including the shooter.

The problem has gained nationwide attention, and recent events have spurred President Barack Obama to announce “We have a pattern now of mass shootings in this country that has no parallel anywhere else in the world.” In 2016, the June 12th massacre at Pulse (a LGBTQ nightclub in Orlando) which was the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history, saw the tragic deaths of 49 people. (The deadliest massacres were back in the 1800's and 1900's, when white mobs and American troops killed hundreds of Native American and Black people in each of the Tulsa Massacre of 1921, the Wounded Knee Massacre of 1890, and the Mountain Meadows Massacre of 1857). In 2015, there was the Charleston AME shooting, where a 21-year old white man killed 9 Black churchgoers in a racially-motivated hate crime. In 2014, a 22-year-old UCSB student committed the Isla Vista rampage, killing 6.

In 2012, a young man killed 26 people, mostly children, at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut. In 2007, a Virginia Tech senior killed 32 other students on campus. And in 1999, two high school students at Columbine High School used four guns and two pipe bombs to murder 13 others.

Mass shootings are not a uniquely American problem, but other countries have found much more success in curbing the shootings. In Australia, the 1996 massacre of Port Arthur killed 35, sparking national change. After the shooting, the country banned automatic and semi-automatics assault rifles and pump shotguns, created a gun registry, and established a 28-day waiting period for firearms. Since the 1996 policy changes, there have been 0 mass shootings in Australia to date.

England has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the world. After the 1987 Hungerford Massacre, the country banned most semi-automatic long-barreled weapons, and after the 1996 Dunblane School Massacre, also banned most small firearms. Although there has been one mass shooting since then, which killed 12 in 2010, the shooter in that case used his own legally-owned guns.

In Canada, guns are legal, but a 1977 ruling established a requirement for potential gun-buyers to get a background check before purchasing. While this has curbed killings, there have still been 11 mass shootings since the 1977 law - one of which was actually committed by a U.S. citizen, who brought his handgun to Canada - and the deadliest of which was a school shooting at the Ecole Polytechnique. The school shooter in that case was also a young man, who killed mostly women engineering students because, in his own words, he hated feminists. From 1995 to 2012 in Canada, all guns had to be registered, but each state dropped this requirement, eventually including Quebec because of a Supreme Court decision in 2015. While Canada does still struggle with mass shootings, it is a fraction of the problem in the U.S.

In the United States, a study by the Guardian found that in the 20 deadliest shootings in 2015, most of the gunmen used their own, legally-owned firearms. President Obama, in an attempt to follow through on his campaign promises, has made several attempts to strengthen gun control laws. However, most of those bills died in the Senate, so there has not been much gun control reform in the past few years. From comparing U.S. laws to other countries' laws, how do we stack up? Tell us your opinion in the comments below!

1. Bring several bottles of wine.

Just can't listen to your father-in-law drone on about his boring job anymore? Good old alcohol, the oldest trick in the book, will help you not to go crazy. Whether you like wine, vodka, whiskey, or beer, bring something that you'll want to drink later. Be careful, though! Don't go overboard on the liquor, or you may find yourself in a regrettable shouting match.

2. Invite a Buffer Zone Friend.

You know that your parents are on their best behavior in front of guests, so bring along a platonic friend to keep them in check! You better make sure that your friend knows what they're potentially in for, though, or your friend will later be shooting you death glares as your mom grills her about her love life.

3. Do Conversation Gymnastics.

When your weird, racist uncle says he's excited for Trump to get into office, and you don't want to engage with him, tell him what's much more exciting is that you're going to get into the mashed potatoes. When he says Hillary Clinton should be executed, tell him a million turkey executions is enough for one day. When he says that 9/11 was faked, ask him loudly if he would like some pumpkin pie, and stare at him pointedly until he gets the hint.

4. Assign Seating Arrangements.

That's right, sometimes you have to resort to this old teacher's trick. If two people simply cannot get along, place them at opposite ends of the table. If you know you won't be able to have a conversation with your grandpa without ripping his head off, seat him far away from you. If you have kids, or little relatives like cousins, nieces or nephews, ask them to make the place-cards. Then, everybody will love their handwritten assigned seat!

5. Take a Walk. If you feel yourself hitting the limit of what you can tolerate, it is perfectly OK to excuse yourself. Go for a walk around the block, or, if it's too cold outside, just let your fam know that you're feeling stressed out and that you're going to another room to cool down. Remove yourself from the situation and do something relaxing until you're feeling ready to engage again.

6. Play Defense.

If you have a relative who always asks invasive questions, prepare your own nosy questions about their life. Ask them if their son's still on academic probation, or how they got that new dent in their bumper. Hopefully they'll get the hint and finally stop asking you when you're going to get married!

7. Have A Couple Killer Topics Up Your Sleeve. Did you know that Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg just started a cooking show together? Or, ask your mom her opinions on the whole Brad and Angelina fiasco. Maybe you have a really good "Would You Rather?" in your repertoire. Whatever it is, come to dinner prepared with one really good conversation starter, and you'll have an easy out of a difficult conversation.

8. Do Engage!

If you feel up to it, task yourself with having a patient, calm conversation with a relative about your differing opinions. Listen to them, don't interrupt, then give a thoughtful rundown of your side. Tell them you really enjoyed hearing their perspective, and that you'll give their ideas further thought. Ask them to give your ideas some serious thought too, and to deeply evaluate their own beliefs.

9. Plan Some Time For Yourself.

Trust us, after a whole evening with your family, you'll need to de-stress, whatever that may mean to you. To some, it means spending Friday on the couch in pajamas with some tea and your favorite movies. To others, it means waking up early to get down to some serious online shopping done. Maybe it's a massage at the spa, or a facial. Whatever it is that floats your boat, you need to make time for it.

The first thing we noticed about model Heena Bhalla is the killer eyebrows! But amazing eyebrows aside, there's a whole lot to this beautiful bombshell that we discovered when we interviewed her. Here's what we learnt about the 25-year-old model who runs a personalised gifting company and was a finalist in Grazia's Cover Girl Hunt 2015.

How did you get into modelling?
It wasn't the "I always wanted to be a model" cliché in my case! My mom and family pushed me to give it a shot. I took time to acknowledge my love for the ramp. But when I did, I gave my heart and soul, and there has been no looking back!

Biggest perks of being a model?
I get to travel and be paid for it! I love living out of a suitcase, seeing new places, and meeting new people with amazing creativity to unleash.

Your fitness mantra?
RUN! Doesn't take no brains, just go for a run on a sad, happy, lonely hungover day. Just go run!

Your biggest fashion pet peeve?
Trying to wear too many trends at once.

Name a brand/label/designer that you could be an ambassador of.
Adidas!

Your favourite photoshoot/show so far?
There have been many shoots where I not only got good pictures, but got to polish my skills because of the pepple involved in it. One that comes to mind was one of my first shoots with Manav Parhawk for 64 facets

When not shooting, you're found wearing...?
Rugged jeans and a t-shirt with my Adidas superstar sneakers! I can live in them.

Name the makeup products that you swear by.
Aloe vera gel—I'm currently using Innisfree's, and it's magical. Other than that, just a lip balm for the day!

Tips for those gorgeous eyebrows?
I have always had a good growth! It's important to shape them well, and not be afraid to let them be bushy, let them grow. I fill them in with some Embark shadow by MAC before stepping out! Eyebrows make a huge difference

Name an international supermodel that you look up to.
Coco Rocha. Absolutely LOVE her!

Heena sure seems like a super fun girl to hang out with, and we can't wait to see where her modelling career takes her!

Lady Gaga has been tipped to play her longtime friend Donatella Versace in the forthcoming third season of American Crime Story; focussing on the murder of Donatella's brother Gianni.

The first instalment of Ryan Murphy's anthology, American Crime Story, The People v. O.J. Simpson, aired from February to April this year and its upcoming seasons have been fast-tracked as a result of it's popularity (the executive producing team took home an armful of Emmys).

The second season will focus on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina while the third will be a 10 episode story based on Maureen Orth's book Vulgar Favours, encompassing the shooting of Gianni Versace upon the steps of his Miami Beach home by Andrew Cunanan.

Jennifer Lopez has jumped on the Belfie hype, about three years after Kim posted hers. Are we complaining? Hell nah, we like big butts and we cannot lie.

JLO, the original curvy #goals, has been shooting a new cop drama in NYC lately, whilst also recording a new Spanish record with her ex-hubby Marc Anthony. We're glad she's still being a boss and working hard, despite her recent split with Casper Smart (after 5 years together).

We seriously pray we look this banging at 47!

Harry Potter, loved by many, but fancied? Not so much. Until now. We've got the hots for HP. No, not Daniel Radcliffe, but model Zachary Howell who was shot by Sarah Hester in a Harry Potter Boudoir themed photoshoot.

So how did this come to fruition? Well, Sarah met Zachary and he said he'd help her getting use to shooting male models, she said "I couldn't remember his name, so I started calling him harry". They joked about doing a Harry Potter 'boudoir' session, and then made it happen a week later.

The Harry Potter Fandom are going to go crazy over this, and his erm...wand.

Priyanka Chopra had a fun afternoon date with Canadian actor Sunny Leone at New York Fashion Week recently.

PC was busy shooting second season of Quantico, while Sunny went to NYC to walk the ramp for Archana Kochhar at ongoing NYFW and the stars decided to meet. Yes, we're so jealous!

It doesn't end there, paparazzi also captured Jacqueline Fernandez strolling the streets of NYC at the same time and we're certain she's there for the same reason.

We're really excited about what PC wore to fashion week and she was seen on her Instagram in a gorgeous pink stealth dress and a floral maxi dress that has taken our breath away!

If you're loving these styles just as much as we are, you need to click on our edit down below so you can own a similar look at her. Check it out!!

Chetan Bhagat's new novel, One Indian Girl, is yet to launch, but has already garnered a bunch of attention in the media. It first became a talking point because it is his first novel from the perspective of a woman, and touches upon topics like feminism.

However, the latest reason this book is in the spotlight is because of Kangana Ranaut, who says she wants to play the lead if (or rather when, considering Chetan Bhagat's book-to-movie track record so far) when One Indian Girl gets adapted on the screen.

Bhagat sent her an early copy of his book, and Kangana apparently liked it so much that she called him up and said, "Did you really write this? It's a wonderful book, a must-read! I'm definitely playing the lead whenever you turn the book into a film."

As of now, Kangana's next movie is Rangoon, which also stars Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, and hits the theatres next year.

If Kangana does end up being the lead in a film adaptation of One Indian Girl, she'd probably start shooting at the end of 2017.
