Today is Star Wars day and across the world, people are celebrating the retro movie franchise that first hit our screens in 1977 – whether by rocking a vintage tee or sharing their favourite quotes from the many films created by George Lucas.

Star Wars has inspired designers everywhere with its unique sci-fi aesthetic so it’s no surprise to see homage after homage on the runway. Carolina Herrera channelled Princess Leia chic with her collections, while Christian Louboutin, Rag & Bone and ASOS are among the many brands who’ve teamed up directly with the creators of Star Wars.

When it comes to street style, there are plenty of nods to the cult movies too, with the likes of Gigi Hadid, Megan Fox and Lupita Nyong’o rocking vintage tees to show their appreciation.

Want to steal a little Star Wars style for yourself?

Amal looks like a fairy when she wears pastel colors. George Clooney’s wife has turned out to be a real style icon and not only for the formal stylish suits she wears as a lawyer. Well done! #pinkdress #amalclooney

Amal Clooney n'est ni influenceuse, ni mannequin, ni it girl.

From her engagement and marriage to George Clooney and her push to the public eye, internationally celebrated human rights lawyer Amal Clooney has long created her own personal style before meeting her husband. Clooney is a fan of a fine blend between playful and professional with feminine details that allow her to look polished on all occasions. The human rights lawyer returned to the United Nations for work only three months after giving birth to twins Ella and Alexander.

She had to transverse from businesswoman to Hollywood celebrity status and now it seems that she has it all: the career, the man, the twins, the holiday house in Lake Como, and all the handbags in the world. The barrister rarely gives interviews unrelated to her work which has seen her represent victims of Isli rapes and kidnappings and aid Wikileaks founder Julian Assange in his fight against extradition.

At the same time, she's an avid fashion follower. During her September 2014 wedding, she opted for a Dolce & Gabbana custom-made Alexander McQueen, Giambattista Valli Couture dress and Stella McCartney look. She knows the importance of quality tailoring especially when it comes to her suits such as her Bottega Veneta.

When it comes to colour palette of choice, she's a fan of black, navy, cream and red mixed with patterns. She also can accessorise like a pro. Just like the special Gucci bag, she took to the United Nations in 2016. For her off-duty looks, she can really let her hair down pairing nude tones in flattering but comfy silhouettes that accommodate her demanding lifestyle and business schedule.

For her holiday attire, whether it's Lake Como or tequilas at Ibiza she wears anything from sequinned dresses to long red dresses paired with patterned mules or striped day dresses with kitten heel slingbacks and oversized sunnies.

This week marks the 100 year anniversary of women first winning the vote in the UK. And while much has changed since 6 February 1918, the fact that there’s a plethora of feminist fashion and literature available and multiple women’s marches staged in recent years suggests the spirit of the suffragists is still very much alive. These women, unlike the radical suffragettes who were more militant and resorted to violence (Emily Davison died after walking out in front of King George V’s horse at the 1913 Epson Derby), campaigned to win the vote peacefully. The combination of tactics worked and these days women are campaigning for gender equality and protesting against issues like period poverty and sexual harassment in powerful ways.

Besides donating money and joining marches, there are other ways to share your beliefs and solidarity with fellow women. We’d suggest reading up about the history of the suffragists and suffragettes, women's rights and feminism; and fashion wise, slogan t-shirts are probably the easiest way to share your thoughts as they’ll effortlessly go with what’s already in your wardrobe. There’s bound to be one that reflect your thoughts and you can discover the protest garment’s 20th century timeline and impact at an exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum which opens today. Dior’s ‘We should all be feminists’ t-shirt, inspired by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s essay and Ted talk, is arguably the most famous and the fashion girl choice, and the audio featured on Beyonce’s ‘Flawless’ track. The word and terms ‘feminist’ (which so loaded you may have to justify yourself to onlookers when wearing it), ‘girl power’ and ‘grl pwr’ feature on a range of stylish pieces and accessories too. We’d also recommend making the Spice Girls your current soundtrack, given their still very relevant #girlpower message, and you can add empowering quotes to your home decor.

The general mood at Paris Fashion Week has been in line with the overall fashion aesthetic of frivolity, celebration and glam! We saw glitter galore and pretty in pink looks that marked the glorious return of the blush! Although there's nothing new about the blush the way it's applied has changed a lot. Applied in small amounts around the cheekbones the pink blush denotes to a healthy, outdoorsy look or I just finished my Zumba class face. In the 80's the blush was employed in a much more extravagant manner. The 80s pop-punk icons like Debby Harry Madonna and Boy George used ample amounts of bright pink blush giving away a more rock 'n roll vibe than a ladylike touch.

At the SS18 Paris Fashion Week backstage, the vibe was similar. The lines were drawn to create an effect going as high as the eye creases. Very different from following the natural shade and silhouette of the cheekbones which was done recently. That "buffing" effect was all the rage at Clio Peppiatt but also at Sophia Webster where cheekbones were swept up and emphasized with rosy elements. Over at Chanel, there was a clash between the blue eyelashes and the peachy cheeks, while Valentino went for that punkish brow to cheekbone technique.

You can easily incorporate this look and be as adventurous as you like with it. Take it down to an everyday makeup look by using a powdered blush on your cheekbones. Add a liquid rose blush for that extra glowing effect. For a night out go for a bold party look in tone ranging from peach to bright fuschia!

Three is usually a trend but as the Cambridges released their official Christmas photo this week, and the Kardashian-Jenners have been releasing daily sneak-peeks of their own holiday shot, we’ll make Christmas photos an exception. And by ‘Christmas photos’ we don’t mean family members awkwardly posing for an impromptu snap, we mean coordinated outfits, a professional photographer, the works to capture the moment for prosperity and social media.

Clearly these two famous families have different approaches. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stand smiling broadly at the camera with their adorable children Prince George and Princess Charlotte on a plain light background. Smartly dressed in different shades of blue, they look glossy but pretty normal. Last year they used an outdoor shot from their trip to Canada. In contrast, the Kardashian-Jenners’ pictures could double as a high-fashion shoot with ‘natural’ makeup, poses and denim and t-shirt outfits.

For your own Christmas photo, think about what you’re going to use it for, who’s going to be in it and how authentic you want it to be. Is it going to be tricky to get everyone together and dressed the same? Some families are collectively more into this than others. What’s your budget for the studio (if you’re going that far), a photographer, a makeup artist? You’ve probably missed the boat for printed Christmas cards this year but an e-card to your loved ones will have the same effect. This is a great way to mark your family memories of 2017 and possibly start a new tradition.

Check out our expert edits below to take clothing cues from the Cambridges and the Kardashian-Jenners, and if you'd prefer, shoot the picture yourself.

One of the biggest moments of Milan Fashion week was marked by the Spring/ Summer 2018 Versace show. Models Carla Bruni, Helena Christensen, Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer and Naomi Cambell strutted down the catwalk in gold floor-length gowns to pay homage to Donatella Versace's brother, Gianni Versace. They proved that beauty knows no age when great style and personality are thrown in the peculiar mix of supermodels.#222222">

The original 90s models walked the runway to celebrate the Versace brand and Gianni's legacy. At the end of the show, as the curtain was drawn, a voice announced " Gianni, this is for you", revealing the nineties icons and the George Michael track Freedom shortly followed as they walked down the catwalk. The collection featured classic baroque Versace prints as well as innovations, including a beautiful black dress with scooped neckline. The late Gianni Versace has been widely credited for the invention of the supermodel.

The 2018 show was also graced by the new faces in the millennial Supermodel generation including Kaia Gerber and Gigi Hadid. A refreshing view on fashion, the show demonstrated that age does not dictate style or beauty!
