Bleach blonde hair looks amazing but it's also a lot of hard work. Unless you want your ends to split, your lengths to be frizzy and dry or your color turning yellow, you need to follow a few rules for healthy-looking hair.  We looked to our panel of beauty experts to find out the best ways to look after blonde hair and how to repair it too.

Here's how to care for your bleach blonde hair...

No rush

You can't rush the process of going bottle blonde. If you have dark hair especially previously dyed hair you’ll need to take your time and gradually work towards a lighter shade. At least three to four appointments are needed to reach your blonde hair goals. Don’t go all in or you’ll end up damaging your hair and definitely won’t achieve your desired shade.

Perfect salon

Do your research, consult Instagram, ask friends and be sure of the best way to fulfil your blonde ambition. Take a thorough look at the previous work of stylists and salons you like. Then  be prepared to drop some serious cash to know you’re getting the best for your hair.

No DIY

At least not the first time. Home bleaching can be extremely damaging to the hair if overused or if you've never done it before. At least speak to a colorist for a consultation before attempting it.

Proper haircare products

There's no easy way to lighten your hair because bleaching damages the hair, plain and simple. But you can lessen the damage by ensuring you're using the right products. Use a selection of moisturizing products to strengthen the bonds within the hair and prevent breakage or damage.

Ready to try a bleach blonde look this summer? Before you make your hair appointment make sure you stock up on the essentials from our edit below...

Wedding season is here, but if you’re not quite ready to give Meghan and Harry a run for their money – and let’s face it, who can afford to cater for 600 people? – you might want to consider a few shortcuts. We caught up with Fern Godfrey, Editor of the UK’s biggest Wedding blog Rock My Wedding, to discover her tips for planning your dream day on a budget…

What do you love most about being the Editor of Rock My Wedding? Rock My Wedding was founded by Charlotte O’Shea in 2009, when she was planning her own wedding, it’s grown hugely since then and we’re now a team of 10. I’ve been Editor at Rock My Wedding since 2015 and I absolutely love my job.

We get to share people’s love stories every single day, work with beautiful flowers and dresses, and champion incredible wedding suppliers with our directory, The List. The best bit is seeing the wedding photographs of brides who have read RMW religiously while planning their own weddings –- it’s such a great feeling.

What do you find are the most popular wedding themes?

We feature a lot of rustic luxe weddings -– industrial and agricultural buildings with lots of exposed brick and lofty beams, filled with flowers and candles. This theme works beautifully for weddings across Europe as we have so many incredible historic and working buildings to use. The weather in the UK doesn’t always allow for the amazing outdoor celebrations we feature from France, Italy and Spain, but all of the weddings we blog are amazing in their own unique way.

How can one plan a beautiful wedding on a budget?

If you want to save money while planning your big day, then the key thing is decide on what is important to you as a couple. If you chose the areas you’re going to spend on, then you can try to save on the others.

Do you really need wedding favours? Can you serve canapés as a starter and wedding cake as your dessert? Have you considered a Spotify play list rather than a band? Do you really need a pair of designer shoes? If flowers aren’t important to you, then use local foliage and seasonal blooms. The one thing we’d always recommend spending on is professional photographs and a film – these things will allow you to remember your big day forever and so they are the most important part.

Can you share any useful DIY tips?

We’ve created a couple of floral DIY’s for Rock My Wedding readers. The first is a chair back arrangement to take your seating to the next level. The other is for a classic flower crown – these are very popular with boho bridesmaids, especially at cool, rustic weddings out in the countryside, but you can use any kind of flower to achieve the look and feel you want. There are plenty of examples on the Rock My Wedding Instagram feed.

As an expert, what would you pack for a destination wedding?

As a wedding guest? A floral maxi dress, a wide brimmed hat and some sunglasses. As the bride? A soft and flowing gown, some pretty sandals and lots of Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Pressed Powder.

Shop Fern’s edit for the perfect pieces to make your day special, whatever your budget and wherever you’re heading to tie the knot…

Crop tops are all the rage the past few seasons from the catwalk to editorials and blogger style insta feeds. Their popularity is mostly due to their versatile nature and their ability to mix and blend easily into your summer day or night out looks.

It’s actually less about baring all of your midriff and more about which separates you wear with it. The other thing we love about crop tops is that it's a very affordable trend that you can mix and match with ease!

Made to flatter

It's flattering for everyone, and contrary to what you might think you don't need killer abs to rock it! It's all about clever styling and layering separates to your advantage.

Day to night

Layer over a simple shift dress or wear a printed crop top over a simple white shirt for a easy way to introduce it to your work wardrobe. Remove the shift dress and wear it on its own paired with pants for an uber sleek going-out look!

Quick fashion fix

A statement trend, it is easily recognisable as a modern update your look!

Style with

Crop tops can we worn with your favourite pair of trousers or jeans, skirts and dresses are great easy pieces to style up or down with shoes and accessories. Always be creative with your separates and style it the way that best suits your mood.

We're only just a few days before we celebrate Easter and we have already been witnessing the Easter bunny craze from shops, to restaurants even family homes. There's nothing better than enjoying quality time with family and friends at home during the holidays. It feels even cosier in an environment that has been decked out to embrace the event. It's time to hunt shop and put together amazing decorations that will infuse your home with that holiday spirit.

As an added bonus these DIY Easter ideas are a great way to spend time with loved ones especially if you have children or young relatives or simply are looking for an excuse to do some art & crafts.

SHAVE CREAM EASTER EGGS

Take an ordinary product to decorate a whole array of marbelized Easter eggs. You only need some natural food colouring or some dye to design on a bed of plain shaving cream. Then roll some hard-boiled eggs over the surface to create this cool multi-colour effect. Let the eggs dry and gently clean to remove any extra shaving cream.

WATERCOLOUR EASTER EGGS

A very inexpensive way to decorate Easter eggs is by using watercolour paints. For an amazing marble egg, use a round brush and create a two-tone effect by adding water to the original colour and stamping on the second round of dots.

FRUIT & VEGETABLE EGGS

Take small hard-boiled eggs and dip them to one solid colour. Add details with a permanent marker to make them look like your fave fruit or veggie. Add a personalised message from someone in your family, and make this an extra individual affair.

If no amount of hair masks, leave-in conditioners or DIY-egg-treatments are working to revive your dry, damaged and brittle hair, it might be time to reassess how you style and care for your hair before accepting you'll look like a one-hit glam rocker.

Try changing up these six things that you might be doing wrong:

1. Heat styling too often - Over-styling on high heat can quickly damage your hair. Wind it down to low or medium-low heat and always use heat protectants.

2. Using an old hair dryer - Using an old hair dryer or not cleaning out the air vents can clog up your hair dryer, making it work less effectively, and making you use more heat to achieve your hair style.

3. Not using UV protectant - Don’t forget your hair when it comes to sun protection - look for hair products with UV protection built in or find a hair sunscreen.

4. Using heat for every style - Give your hair a rest from heat by using heatless options to create your desired hair style - leaving your hair in braids overnight creates beautiful curls and waves.

5. Using the wrong products - Harsh chemicals such as alcohol or sulfates can strip your hair of its natural moisture. Instead, go for sulfate-free formulas and use coconut or jojoba oil products.

6. You don’t change it up - Wearing your hair in the same way every day can cause your hair strands to weaken, particularly at your parting or where your hair is most stretched. Switch it up to help keep your hair strong.

Denim has historically been one of the most flattering fabrics for both men and women. Its unique versatility factor puts it front and centre for the high street and the high end. The level of creativity for 2018 is uncompromising and can range from a pile of patches acting as jeans to exaggerated forms that can be styled in completely unexpected ways. Look out for lots of cutouts, embroidery, patches and variety in hemlines in our top picks below!

CUTOUTS
#262626">
#262626">Take your cues from Kendall Jenner by styling a cut-out midi denim skirt with a silk spaghetti strap top. Finish the look with a vintage pair of 90s inspired sunnies and an equally grungy pair of mules for an edgier outfit.

MODEL OFF DUTY JEANS
#262626">
#262626">Super tight skinny jeans have morphed into straight cut styles that are comfier and define the silhouette without being constraining. Gigi Hadid and sister Bella were spotted sporting a more laid-back option: layers of denim. To achieve Gigi’s London Fashion Week off-duty look, the model layered chambray and yellow plaid button-downs with a long, frayed denim vest, then stunned with white and light blue layered, cropped jeans.

STEP HEM

If you really want to nail the 2018 denim look then look no further than the step hem, which shows no signs of stopping since last season. You can thank Vetements for the much needed innovative twist! #262626">If you don't have the Vetements budget, why don't you DIY and give one of your pairs a makeover by staggering the edges.Look below for other affordable options. The great thing about the step hem is that you can style it as you please while showing off your shoe.

TRIPLE DENIM

Canadian tuxedo has many retro connotations that range #262626">from Dolly Parton to Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears circa 2001.Nowadays you can triple or quadruple your denim by wearing contrasting shades or denim thickness. Play with proportions and juxtaposing materials for the most impressive results.

FRINGING

For the past three years, tassels and fringes have been put front and centre everywhere from Zara to Anthropologie, without any signs of abandoning the limelight. #262626">The trend's evolved so you don't have to stick to your frayed jeans necessarily. Pick up a fringed mini skirt with fringes, a distressed denim jacket or opt for a pair of uber cool denim sandals finished with tassels. One of our favourites is a distressed denim blouse with a frayed hem courtesy of Marques’ Almeida.

EMBROIDERED

The obvious option here is springtime florals. From rock n roll roses to funky pineapples even quotes make for a super stylish way to decorate your favourite pair of jeans this summer.

PATCHWORK

You can try clashing similar blue tonal panels or play with different sizing by assembling large squares with minuscule patches on the jeans taking cues from Eva Chen and Kendall Jenner. Experiment with positioning pockets in unexpected places or colours. If DIY is not your calling, don't worry. Just browse through our selected edit of denim items and shop your favourite items now!

Take a moment to appreciate the best beauty looks of New York Fashion Week AW18 with us. Because Fashion Month is so much more than just clothes and this was our first chance to check out the hair and makeup trends we'll soon be sporting next season. As with the collections and shows themselves, which celebrated rebelliousness, inclusivity and uniqueness, the shift in society regarding the definition of beauty was reflected boldly and extravagantly.

Here are four of our favourites!

EYE FOCUS

It seems more is more again by the extravagant eye makeup choices on the NYFW catwalks. Ulla Johnson’s models have their eyelids dusted with gold glitter, while Tom Ford presented his own take on sexy smoky eyes, and Alice + Olivia traded liquid eyeliner for smudgy eye pencil. The eyeshadows surrendered to a rainbow effect with graphic edges in shimmering colours of pinks and purples at Oscar de la Renta and Anna Sui. We can’t wait to DIY Kate Spade’s eye makeup: sparkling diamonds carefully glued onto eyelids.

SUBVERSIVE HAIRDOS

The main trend was wet look hair, created by sprays that worked on every texture as seen on the Row catwalk by hairstylist Eugene Souleiman. The accessories were pretty maximalist: with 80’s leather headbands, throwback claw clips and irreverent gelled updos among the best of the bunch.

BOLD LIPS

Red was a colour constant, even when paired with pink for two tone lips. And it was masterfully set off with a healthy glow so extreme it will look like you applied moon dust to your skin. This classic crimson became a powerful pout, although painted in a carefree fashion, in liquid form at Chromat and matte at Bottega Veneta.

HAIR  DYE

Swap the single hair colour of seasons past, as bold as it is, for strategically placed streaks. The models at Sies Marjan wore pinks and blues, while green and blonde short dos made an appearance at Marc Jacobs. Which of the makeup trends will you be trying this season? Shop all the beauty and hair essentials from our expert edit below!

Denim has historically been one of the most flattering fabrics for both men and women. It's also surprisingly versatile, adored by the high street and the high end alike. So it came as no surprise that for AW18 denim is super playful unexpected and comfortable. This means no skinny jeans in the horizon, lots of cutouts, embroidery, patches and variety in hemlines. Here are our top picks!

CUTOUTS

Take cues from Kendall Jenner and sport a sexy midi denim skirt with cutouts and style it with a silk spaghetti strapped top with detailing. Finish the look with a vintage pair of 90s inspired sunnies and an equally grungy pair of mules for an extra chic look.

MODEL OFF DUTY JEANS

The days of skinny jeans are thankfully pretty much over for our figures and most of all for optimum blood circulation. Yes, those things were tight. Bella Hadid, Gigi and the entire bunch are sporting a much more comfy solution: boyfriend jeans. For example, Bella opted for a red-hot appeal to a dated Canadian tuxedo while Kendall (going for denim again) wore a sheer bodysuit under a dark wash pant and jacket. Frederikke Sofie went for a polished jumpsuit and layered it on a duster jacket while Imaan Hammam went old school by pairing her baggy overalls with a plaid top.

STEP HEM

If you really want to nail the 2018 denim look then look no further than the step hem. You can thank French designers Vetements for the much needed innovative twist! If you don't have the Vetements budget why not try a little DIY and give them a makeover with staggered edges. Look below for other affordable options. The great thing about the step hem is that you can style it as you please, no rules apply here!

DOUBLE DENIM

Canadian tuxedo has many retro connotations that range from Woodstock, to Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears circa 2001, to Dolly Parton circa forever. But even if the trend seems dated, kitsch or unflattering it actually completely depends on styling. You can go safe, by throwing a chambray shift over your denim dress, instead of going head to toe dungarees and jacket. Try sporting a deconstructed denim shirt over your denim skirt shorts or trousers and it will instantly give a modern look to your outfit.

FRINGING

For the past 3 years, tassels and fringes have been put front and centre and they don't show any signs of abandoning the limelight. The great news about a trend sticking around for more than a few seasons is that it's been given a chance to evolve. So you don't have to stick to your frayed hem jeans, necessarily. Pick up a mini skirt with fringes, a flawless denim jacket or opt for a pair of uber cool denim sandals finished with tassels. One of our favourites is a distressed denim blouse with a frayed hem courtesy of Marcus Almeida. Thank you!

EMBROIDERED

This is the year to go for embroidered. The obvious option here is springtime florals but don't let that hinder you. From rock n roll roses, to funky pineapples even quotes make for a super stylish way to decorate your favourite pair of jeans this summer.

PATCHWORK

If you want to play with dimension design and personality adding uber cool patches is the denim path for you! You can try clashing similar blue tonal panels or play with different sizing by assembling large squares with minuscule patches on the jeans. Experiment with positioning pockets in unexpected places or colours. If DIY is not your calling don't worry! Just browse through our selected edit of denim items and shop your favourite items now!

Look at your hands: how you decorate your nails is pretty telling. A polish or manicure every few weeks suggests you’re pretty into your beauty, whether it’s a standard couple of coats or an elaborate nail art design; while a lack of funds/patience to DIY, or having a job where you use your hands a lot are conclusions that could be drawn from completely au natural nails. But are you stuck in rut, (whisper it) bored with your go-to style, or do you want your nails to be different to everyone else’s?

Enter the new minimal nails we’ve spotted doing the rounds on social media. These nails are as pared back as they come with just a dot, line or simple shape for detail below a shiny clear topcoat. Technically any colour goes but we’re loving the black and metallic designs the most and the best thing about them is how easy and quick they are to actually do. And there’s no need to pay a professional if you don’t want to because you can literally dip a hair pin or pencil point into a nail polish and apply the dot in less than a minute for each finger. It’s minimum effort for maximum impact so there’s no excuse not to try this designs out for yourself. Think of the compliments you’ll get when you finally get your hands out of those gloves.

Head to the gallery above for minimal nail art design inspo and a tutorial by Mikaela Delcatty then shop the kit below.
