Knutsford, Cheshire:: Learn all about the ancient art of falconry and try it out for yourselves. You'll find out lots about the birds and will be given plenty of time to experience falconry first-hand. Getting really close to different species like this, you will learn what makes a hawk a hawk, a falcon a falcon and an owl an owl. Then you'll get expert tuition in the art of falconry and have time to handle the birds yourselves to help you get comfortable with one another. Then try it out for real as you fly some of the birds, watching them show off their skills - it's an amazing opportunity to see these dramatic creatures up close and watch their spellbinding flight. Two grown- ups are welcome to join you for free. Availability: Approximately two dates each month, both weekdays and weekends. Dates fill up quickly, so book several weeks in advance and allow even longer for popular summer weekend dates. Weather: Cancellation will only occur in extreme weather conditions and in that event, would be re-booked for an alternative date. If in doubt please call the venue to confirm. Duration: Your experience will last for one hour and you are free to stay on at the centre for as long as you wish. Numbers On Day: All tution is just with the two of you and your instructor. Spectators: Under 16's must be accompanied by an adult. Spectators are not limited and are charged at the current admission rate. (Adults £8.50, concessions £7 and children ( 3-16) £6. Two adults and two children £27 or two adults and three children £33.) Dress Code: Dress for the outdoors, with wellingtons or walking boots. Bring a change of clothes if the weather is particularly bad. Guidelines: From junction 19 of the M6 take the A556 towards Northwich. At the first set of traffic lights turn left for Knutsford. At the main roundabout turn left and continue on the A50 for approx half a mile. Gauntlet is on the left, immediately after Cottons Hotel. Restrictions: Girls and boys aged five and over are welcome. Other Info: Why not bring along a camera and/or a pair of binoculars if you have them? And it would be a shame not to catch one of the flying displays that take place throughout the day.
