Treat the budding cowboys and cowgirls in the family to a pony riding experience at The Burley Villa School of Riding in Hampshire. This beginner's horse riding experience for kids features an hour's pony riding before they head back to the ranch house to try out some lassoing and horse shoe throwing. When participants arrive at the venue they'll be greeted by a trail leader who will give a safety briefing, before everyone moves out to meet ponies Boston, Tilly and friends. Once acquainted with the ponies, the kids can brush and tack them, before leaping up on their chosen steed for a riding lesson. A Western-style burger and cowkid certificate is also included with this adventure experience for kids. New Milton, Hampshire Availability: Takes place on Sundays and weekdays during school holidays at least once a month between March and October. Weather: If it's raining - this experience can be held mainly indoors but please bring appropriate wet weather clothing if it looks like rain. Duration: Lasts around two hours, with one hour riding time (depending on group size on the day). Numbers On Day: There will be up to six people taking part. Spectators: Parents are welcome to watch all the action. Their lunch isn't included, but can be booked (at least three days in advance) directly with the venue for £5 per person. Dress Code: Wear a long-sleeved top, long trousers (jodphurs if you've got them) and sturdy boots or shoes with a small heel. Don't wear trainers or flat shoes. If you've got a riding hat bring it along; if not, one will be provided. Guidelines: From London take the M3 southbound joining the M27 westbound. At junction 2 take A326 towards Hythe. Continue straight over four roundabouts, taking an immediate left onto the slip road. At the traffic lights turn right onto A35, towards Lyndhurst. Follow the one way system around Lyndhurst to the A35, signposted Christchurch / Bournemouth. Continue for 8 miles, turning left onto the B3058, New Milton. Burley Villa is 1.5 miles along the B3058. Restrictions: Minimum age is 4, max 12. Max weight 14 stone. Unsuitable for people with visual or hearing impairments. Epileptics need a medical declaration signed by their doctor, any other disabilities must be declared prior to booking to check suitability. Other Info: Traffic congestion at Lyndhurst adds considerable time to journeys made at weekends or holidays. Burley Villa is a British Horse Association approved stables whose staff adhere to all guidelines set by them. Complete beginners welcome.
