This amazing experience begins with a tour of the bird of prey centre and a chance to get close to different species. Learn about various birds of prey and what makes each species different. Then get introduced to a bird and start handling it to get comfortable, under the guidance of an expert hawk handler. The main event means getting the chance to become a falconer; fly a bird to the fist and watch as it soars through the sky at high speed with total ease. Fly the bird right to the glove and admire the strength of these beautiful creatures. Availability: Days available will depend upon choice of venue; please check before booking. Dates generally fill up quickly, so book several weeks in advance and allow even longer for popular summer weekend dates. Weather: The weather may affect this experience. Some venues require a call to check the weather before setting out. If the experience is cancelled it will be re-booked for an alternative date. Duration: Lasts for approximately three hours. Numbers On Day: Held in groups of between four and ten people. Any displays held are always public so expect to share with larger numbers. Spectators: Not all venues can accommodate spectators, and those who do may charge a fee to visit or spectate. Please check when booking. Dress Code: Dress for the outdoors, with wellingtons or walking boots. Bring a change of clothes if the weather is particularly bad. If you have a camera and/or a pair of binoculars please bring them along. Guidelines: Receive further location details when a date is booked. Restrictions: Minimum age varies from 11 to 16 (depending on venue). You need to be reasonably fit as the day involves a fair amount of walking, at some venues over uneven ground. Other Info: Dogs are not permitted at any falconry venues. The types of bird you will meet varies from venue to venue.
