Oval makeup brushes are the newest beauty trend that have sent the industry into a frenzy. What are they? Do they work? Are they worth the money? ALL the feels.
Foundation can be a b*tch to apply, when beauty blenders arrived we all took a huge sigh of relief. Yet it seems that these oval brushes may be even better at achieving a flawless finish. Yippee. They're perfect for applying liquid foundation (let's just skip over powder).
Make up artist Julianne Kay explained their appeal "the brushes have three to 10 times the amount of individual fibres as conventional brushes, which makes the application almost magnetic". They're as soft as a baby's bottom, basically.
How do you use them?
Apply the foundation to your face in small amounts, like you would when using a beauty blender, and then use the brush to apply it in circular motions. So don't swipe like you would with a brush, and don't dab like you would with a sponge.
Kylie Jenner even uses them, specifically the Artis set (shop it from our edit below). Now these oval brushes sound amazing, right? However, brands are still catching on and there isn't a middle ground available yet. The Artis sets are incredible and many think they're worth the money, but they aren't in everyone's price range. The alternatives thus far are dupes for pennies, which have had varied reviews. We'll sit tightly for the beauty industry to catch on, or wait till payday and get our hands on the Artis.....probably the latter...we're impatient.
