Karl Lagerfeld, much like longtime friend Anna Wintour, has been sidling up to hip and/or influential for decades. Boosting the Chanel profile to appeal to consumers both rich and broke as f*ck, this creative director knows exactly which fresh faces will ingratiate the fashion house with the masses.
Ladies and gentlemen who've been hand picked by Karl to bolster the Chanel image - in no particular order - include Claudia Schiffer, Tilda Swinton, Brad Kroenig and his son Hudson, Sebastien Jondeau, Cara Delevingne, Kendall Jenner, Lily Allen, Lily Collins, Kristen Stewart, Gemma Ward, Ines de La Fressange, Keira Knightley, Linda Evangelista, Stella Tennant, Willow Smith
and Saskia de Brauw.
But who'll be the next in Karl's never-ending line-up of brand ambassadors? Here are our predictions for who the next Chanel muse could be...
Bella Hadid: If Karl landed Bella for a campaign or two it would come as no surprise whatsoever. She and big sis Gigi Hadid have walked for the fashion house before and though Karl's shown preference for mainstream names before, Bella's still on the rise as a fashion industry maven with a distinctive look that sets her apart.
Karl has never shied away
from giving his opinions - some of which are quite controversial - and neither is 24-year-old Shailene Woodley! When Glamour magazine asked if she considered herself a feminist, the actress replied "No because I love men, and I think the idea 'raise women to power, take the men away from the power' is never going to work out because you need balance." Uh, okay Shailene. Feminism is about equality but each to their own...
Ben Dahlhaus: Karl is neither sexist nor ageist when he picks his muses but given his godson Hudson Kroenig is the apple of his eye and Romeo Beckham's been poached by Burberry, we expect the next Chanel 'It Guy' will be an experienced but slightly under-the-radar model. Cue Ben Dahlhaus: the really, really ridiculously good looking German model.
Who do YOU think Karl will line up as his next Chanel muses?
